Clemson and under.

Man I was gonna say Texas mops the floor w them. Let’s be real, I think a big reason they jumped out on smu cause they had way more big game experience, they damn near pissed that game away, if smu wasn’t so shaky early I’m not sure tigers win and I was all over them. Actually saved me smu tied it up or woulda been like 4th time this year i had a Klubnick over and only needed 10-15 yards going into ;4th and woulda lost if not for smu tying and the miracle ending! Not sure I can lay 11 but tigers won’t have the big game edge here, Klubnick will be under a lot more fire without Texas having to blitz cause Texas dline should own tigers oline. Not saying I’m on Texas yet im just not sure I could play Clemson. I have a lot of time and work to do! Always respect your Clemson opinion so I’ll keep that in mind, I just worry what Klubnick looks like when he facing pressure with 4 and be rushed while throwing into coverage. The Clemson d will have to play a full 40 that for damn am sure, if they look like they did in 4th vs smu horns will run them out the building imo. Def agree with under.

Clemson's line has protected Klubnik pretty well this year. Georgia sacked him twice, while they sacked Texas QB's 13 times in two games.

And when did Texas cover this number in conference play? With revenge against their archrival (Oklahoma, 2-6 in the SEC), against an otherwise good UF team playing a walk-on QB, against 1-7 UK (and that was only 31-14), and against 0-8 Miss State. They just haven't been dominant on the scoreboard.

It's certainly not a big play for me at this point, but I think there's a bit of value.

It’s gotta be an under for them to stay in it don’t ya think?

I will say ewers threw for all kinds of yards on Uga but that couldn’t convert those into points. That a plus cause not sure there any stopping horns offense but if you can get them in red zone and hold them to fgs that def the path. I have to look back but sure felt like Texas d controlled the game but still couldn’t put up points.

UT had 260 yards and 6 points in the 1H.

It's interesting to look at first halves. In Clemson's three losses, CU scored 0, 7, and 7 in the 1H. Texas is 0-4 ATS in conference games in which they allowed more than 3 points in the 1H. Clemson's really going to need to do something early.

Klubnick scares me in this game, he can be so good, then in same game be so bad! But

The way UT's games have gone this year, it should go under either way. 7-1 to the under when not favored by 20+ (i.e., every conference game except UF). Likewise Clemson/s 5-1 under when not favored by 13+.

Good stuff

Many similarities with Ewers - Texas high schools, highly recruited, underachieved at college level, pocket presence isn't very good, very sporadic / unpredictable overall. At least Klubik has mobility and has improved his play this season. Ewers has regressed.

On Klubnik, about the most solid kid you could ask for. Deeply spiritual guy. I live about 10 minutes from Westlake. Have met and visited with his parents and it's no shock how he's turned out. Think I told it before on this site but one of my lasting memories is going the Lake Travis game in November 2021 at Westlae. The game was over at the half for all intents and purposes (Westlake way up). We are leaving the stadium and walking alongside the Westlake team as it headed toward the field house for the half. Kubnik's in front of the other 40 - 50 teammates. A guy, his wife and 3 small kids are trying to cross a little backstreet in front of the team. Klubnick stops all his teammates and signals the family to walk in front of them so they get on their way. Small thing, indicative of bigger ones. /CSB

I don't have any feel for the Clemson game. People around here are still looking at the Georgia game - so bizarre, especially Sarkisian's coaching. Just wondering what he was doing last Saturday. especially when it came to use (lack) of Manning.

He has def improved over the years he been there. Like I said at times he looks like a nfl qb, then he has mental lapses where I dunno wtf he thinking! Doesn’t surprise me he a good kid as he appears to have an excellent work ethic and never heard anyone say a bad word bout him. I just worry if Texas front 4 gets pressure, and they really good, do his mechanics go back out the window? His legs are def an asset, I think smu was so scared of him running it left guys open in the passing game. Agree w you on Ewers as well, there been a bunch of times I wondered if they would go to manning, think I prob would have! I have no clue how he racked up so many yards vs Uga last week especially in 1st half but couldn’t score shit? This really feels like an under to me, I suppose that many points gotta be tempting if I expect a lower scoring game but I’m just not sure. I dunno if Clemson has really beaten a team anywhere close to horns this season? Honestly even tho I was on Clemson last week I feel like If smu didn’t come out like a team who hasn’t played in all the big games Clemson has I think they prob beat them, once they finally settled in and just started playing football Smu looked like the better team. I was thrilled to get the win and really the reason I played Clemson cause I knew the environment be nothing new to them while Smu kids have next to no experience in games with that kind of meaning. They really spotted tigers a nice lead and they damn near blew it. Horns won’t do that. Early on especially I expect the defenses to dictate. Maybe a 1sr half under?

11 feels like alotta points. Maybe its bait but it sure doesn’t look bad.
I definitely don’t want to lay it with TX I’ll say that for sure.

When I like under 47.5 11 feels like a ton! That said 24-10 wouldn’t completely shock me but I’m w you, no way I lay it, just dunno if I can play it either. Maybe parlay under with iu under 10, lol

I remember that story and have repeated it a few times. I've heard that the earpiece in the helmet has really helped him this year, but that doesn't really explain the drop in turnovers. His OL and WR's have both been upgraded significantly, which has to help.

This thing about the big games is what convinced my local handicapping friend (who went to SMU with Chip Brown and has been speaking with Chip regularly about SMU and UT) that Clemson would probably win in Charlotte. But is the "big game" thing really true anymore? We have six players on the roster who were on the last playoff team in 2020, including one (the punter) who was on the team in 2019. Two of these six actually played in the 2020 playoff. The six include starting safety RJ Mickens, starting DT Damonte Capehart, 2nd-string DT Tre Williams (played in 2020 playoff), OL Trent Howard (one of the top 7 OL this year but now injured and OFS), 2nd-string safety Tyler Venables (played in 2020 playoff), and starting punter Aidan Swanson.

Among the coaches, Dabo obviously has been through all of Clemson's big games in the playoff era. CB coach Mike Reed joined the staff in 2013, safety coach Mickey Conn joined in 2017, and the OL coach (Matt Luke) went through the playoffs to a championship with UGA in 2021. DE coach Chris Rumph was DL coach at Alabama for the 2011 and 2012 championship seasons.

Fair point but I thought it was pretty clear Smu had some early gitters.

Clemson ended up with 326 yards on 70+ plays. Not exactly an offensive outburst, despite the 34 pts they put up.

Early on they were impressive, you could make the case smu was nervous or you could just point to the fact tigers had a bunch of games they came out very strong offensively and really tailed off as the game went on. I don’t trust their offense at all. Texas should get pressure w 4 and when Klubnick feels the pressure his mechanics tend to get really bad.

There's no avoiding the issue with Ewers status going forward and the impact on the team / this game. He'll be a QB somewhere next year, likely in college, but it won't be in Austin. So much noise now and the last thing a team needs going into a playoff game.
Yeah, a definite distraction..

We'll see more and more of this in CFB now with the overlapping of FA and playoffs.

School semesters really get in the way of having the off-season start after the Championship game.

Yeah this game is a blowout

Aaron may not be what you like, but he was a helluva safety for the fighting Texas Aggies
He was also a great player for the Jets but I will lose it if Woody picks him or any other defensive coaches. Glenn is a better fit for New Orleans anyway. Again I very much like Aaron as a person and wish him well wherever he ends up it just better not be with the Jets.

I just don't see an NFL QB at all with this guy.

Yes but the thing is Even tho I tend to agree I don’t think sticking around and losing his job to Manning will help him out and if there ever a year a mediocre qb has a chance to go high this is it!

If it's true that someone is offering him 4 million in the portal there's no guarantee he'll get close to that in the draft

I was reading a Texas message board, and someone said Klubnik hasn’t seen DB’s like UT’s. Another guy: “He played with and practiced against Taaffe at Westlake.” Lol.

Taafffe also played WR, so UT has a safety who used to catch passes from the Clemson QB, and Clemson has a safety (RJ Mickens) who used to catch passes from Ewers at SLC.
Not to mention, Klubnik played with another Texas safety (Andrew Mukuba) for two years at Clemson.

Yea I wasn’t really thinking bout that, nil and portal is keeping these fuckers around forever!! Can’t blame them I rather have 4 mil and banging college chicks than struggling to make a nfl roster or playing in the cfl! I’m not sure 1 the kids coming out this year a nfl qb? I have serious doubts bout sanders and ward.. I actually think the kid from cuss, McCord could end up being at least a really good long term backup if not have a chance, he reads field quick and gets ball out, the shit sanders and ward doing in college is great but I dunno that it translates? It not the running obviously that has proven to be fine, I just dunno if I ever seen either one scan field on their drop back and then bang, let it rip when they hit back foot. They always hit back their drop and have to start running around all over the damn place like they don’t know where ball should go till they see it. Just not sure that works in the nfl?
