CFP Who Gets In Discussion

So stupid, Tulane game should be the noon kick. Guessing they don’t want to go up against Bears/Packers in prime time.
ABC/ESPN only has the Friday night game and the first game Saturday, and they get first pick of the two games they want to carry. And yes, going against NFL is why they have the slots they do. They leased the other two slots to TNT

How is Alabama's resume better than Texas'?
I think the win over Georgia gets them over the top.

before IU beat tOSU, that Bama win was the best win all season by any team and it was on the road.

both have bad losses. (Bama at FSU and Texas at Florida)

Texas also looked bad in wins at Messy St and at Kentucky

overall i think Bama has to get the nod.

#1 seed in SEC hence the champ game appearance

texas's win over A&M was just too little too late i think

i get your point tho

So what's the consensus, does Aggie have a chance in hell to play on Jan 19? I probably have a better chance of being struck by lightning.

Bro I have the CANES over you guys on Dec 20 morning in College Station.

Love your coach, your qb, your team, and the 12th man culture. Gig Em

but not on that morning.

I like Carson Beck and the CANES to beat you guys in the morning 11 am kickoff.

It's one thing to not take every conference champion, which should be the case....

BUT

If you aren't going to do that, then there has to be a rule that if the conference champion does not make it, no other team from that conference can make it. That should be easy. That should be a no-brainer.

Miami, FL is better than Duke but not as deserving as Duke to be in the playoff.

Worst Loss: 5-7 team who finished 13th in their conference for bama, 4-8 team who finished 11th in their conference for Texas. Per Sagarin the 4-8 team played the toughest schedule in the country. They also played in a tougher conference than the 5-7 team. They also beat the 5-7 team by 19 points in a rivalry game. The bad loss to the 5-7 team by bama was first game of the year, the bad loss to the 4-8 team by texas was first week of october. Advantage Texas

Strength of Schedule: Per Sagarin Bama 3rd hardest, Texas 12th hardest. Advantage Bama but kind of splitting hairs there.

Best Win: Bama beat Georgia, Texas beat TAMU. Edge to Bama there for sure.

Recency - Texas won 6 of their last 7 with only loss to Georgia and in a more competitive game with Georgia than the SEC championship finale Georgia had with Bama. Alabama won 5 of last 7 with both losses to quality opponents: Small edge to Texas.

Ownership of the Committee: Big edge to Bama.

As for Miami vs ND, it should be moot due to Duke winning the conference but I think the following if you look at them head up ... Miami beat them. That should take precedence over almost everything once there is a reasonable debate between two teams.
Good job making the case for UT.

Their two losses are worse than BYU's and the wins are comparable at best
I will give some grace to BYU as the two losses were against top 4 TexTech and both were in Texas (one in Lubbock and one in Jerry's world) and were blowouts.

BYU beat several teams with winning records by good margins.

re ND losses, just 4 points at Miami and 2 more pts at home v Gig Em, and they are undefeated. two CFP playoff teams they lost to.

(3 more points and 1 point, respectively, means ties in those two games and we want Wins LOL)

I want to give ND some grace on their wins but other than the one vs USC the others were not that impressive.

yes they hammered Pitt in steeltown but then a few weeks later the Canes hammered Pitt worse !!

Saw this. Is it real or fake?

Line has not moved so I am skeptical

No, John Mateer—the quarterback for the Oklahoma Sooners—has not announced that he is not playing. A viral social media post this week falsely claimed he was opting out of the College Football Playoff to prepare for the 2026 NFL Draft, but it originated from a parody account and was debunked by multiple sources, including The Oklahoman and Sporting News. Oklahoma officials have confirmed no change in his availability as the team prepares for their playoff opener against Alabama on December 19. Mateer, who is draft-eligible after this season, stated in late November that he is "not really" thinking about the NFL or a potential return to OU, emphasizing focus on the current season. Recent X posts from his account (@John_Mateer4) also show no such announcement, with his activity centered on team updates and game
