CFB playoff rankings debut tonight..

Ohio will put up half a hundred on Boise if they meat up, possibly in the first half

They strictly care about wins and losses. Strength of schedules and wins mean nothing.

Not sure what Penn St or Indiana or even Texas have done to be ranked where they are. Notre Dame losing at home to Northern Illinois should be automatically eliminated.

I've been watching football long enough to know that this Indiana team has zero chance on a neutral field against some of the powerhouse schools. Have they even played a team with a winning record right now, much less beaten one?

I don't envy the committee, because there is no way to apply the exact same standards to every team, other than losses I guess. But if we're going to continue to have such variance in schedules, they either have to be willing to move past that, or accept the unavoidable consequence of programs and conferences making schedules as easy as possible

Surprised to see Mizzou still ranked.
I thought the same, until I started looking at who else could be ranked in that spot. I wouldn't argue switching Mizzou out for several teams, but I also don't have a strong argument the other way

I am not an Indiana fan but 10 - 0 is still 10 - 0 especially for a team that has never done this. All these other power house teams have a loss or 2. If we are comparing, the power house teams play power house teams and a couple of soft teams and are not undefeated .

Indiana hasn't played power house teams but they did beat Michigan even though we know it's somewhat of a down year fir Michigan.

Why not wait and see what they can do against Ohio St.

Correct me if I am wrong but I have seen these so called power house teams barely win games that you would think they should blow someone out.

Again 10 - 0 is still 10 - 0

The ideal thing to do would be to make it a requirement to play a p4 only schedule, non-conference included. Sure, there would still be some SOS discrepancies, and it eliminates the g5 teams, but we'd have a better idea. I don't know what you say about Indiana is true or not. I think we'll learn a lot this Saturday. If Indiana loses a close one, shouldn't we put them ahead of Penn St? I think so. But the committee will likely put them at the bottom of the CFP if not out completely. At the end of the day, the committee will put who they want in the playoff and use whatever justification that they can when explaining it

Have pretty much come to grips that winning in College Station is necessary to get into the playoff. If it doesn't happen, then no go. And I'm probably going to understand that.

We'll see how things play out.

This is exactly what it is. Might be this year, might not and we don’t even have to name the teams but that strategy of scheduling hopefully goes away.

Something has to give. You can't use number of losses as the only or most important metric if the schedules are so different, or if there isn't a clear cut objective way to make the playoff.

Whats the point of scheduling an out of conference game with clemson if it doesnt add value? Army is 10 - 0, why arent they ranked higher? Do you think Indiana would be 10 - 0 if they played at Bama, at Texas, at Ole Miss, Clemson and Tennessee? It really doesnt matter, except it makes no sense. Kirby has beaten more top 10 teams the past 2 months than Franklin has his whole life.

Then why have conferences? If Indiana is in a PW5 , now the PW4 then it is what it is.

What you are saying we might as well have 8 SEC teams and 1 from the other 3 PW4 with 1 from the rest and we can all sit back an enjoy the playoff. 🙄

I'm going off AP and coaches rankings. Do I think all conferences are created even? No. Would love to play the Big 12, ACC champ any time any place. You haven't been watching football for the past decade, if you think the conferences are similar at the top.

Oooo, I have been watching and personally I am sick of the same teams every year. I personally like the DOG and ic we are talking betting, you make way more money betting the dog than the favorite. Back to the task at hand, when Indiana keeps it close if not wins then they very much deserves to be in.

And if we do the head to head... let's talk commen opponents (NEB) and Indiana is having a very good year.

Same old, same old gets very boring
