Cavs make blockbuster trade

jimbof20

thunder thighs & hairy muffs specialist
Hughes. Goooden. Newble. Simmons. Marshall. For wally. Big ben. D west. J smith. I'm still thinking on this. Be back later

1. I still love Ben Wallace.

1a. His only rightful place in the league is with the Pistons.

2. The Cavs still don't have a point guard, is Ben there simply to get rebounds and throw them back out to LeBron when he misses?

lebron should just play the pt like magic and guard a 2 or 3.
boobie
wally
wallace/smith
z/sideshow

i think Delonte could thrive in Cleveland.. Him and Boobie are both quality shooters, And with Bron, the need for a true point guard really isn't there.

I'm at work. Can't really get on computer. Using my phone. But we just received a lot of money. I like west and smith a lot. Wally makes a ton of money. I guess u west wally/boobie. Lebron. Ben/andy and z dont sound bad. They really need to mature Shannon brown for this deal to work IMO. I dont yet

OK, but if LeBron goes the Magic route, doesn't he need scorers?

Where's Cleveland's Big Game James Worthy? Who's their Kareem?

I'm not saying its a bad idea, just that right now, if LeBron stops scoring, that team doesn't win.

Sure, you'll now get 10 or 15 a night from Wally, but after that . . . um . . . there's always Sideshow Bob I guess.

Save for the last 10 games or so from Hughes, they really didn't part with any scoring.

wow...not sure if it's good or bad for the Cavs...or good or bad for the Stones...it will be interesting watching BEN in a playoff series VS his old mates...

its not so much what they received, its what they got rid of... a bunch of garbage outside of gooden imo.

Great year for deals.

I like it from all standpoints. Actually think SEA suffers the most losing Wally . He was playing great ball for them. Clearly understand why they did it but just from a quality standpoint this season.

Cleveland might lose Gibson for awhile but West will probably play the point and he has shown flashes of being capable. Some times players just need the opportunity , look at how well Rondo has played in Boston. I wonder if they start Varaejo at PF when he returns and let Wallace backup both Z and him. I think that could b a great way to get max effort out of Big Ben. Sort of return to the role that made him famous . Wally fills a great need of someone who can actually hit a jumper consistently. Oh wait they got Joe Smith as well playing some great ball. Joe Smith is the equivalent of the guys in MLB who cant get major league deals because of past injury issues and sign 1 yr minor league contract and blossoms. Think Dmitri Young . Anyway you can start Joe Smith at PF and have both Varaejo and Wallace off the bench..

G's : Devin Brown , West , Gibson , Pavlovic , Damon Jones , Snow and Szczerbiak( or SF ).

SF's : King James

PF's: Joe Smith & Varaejo

C: Z and Wallace

Shedding Hughes and Gooden rid them of two veterans whose name outweighed there level of play.

Even though Chi lost Wallace and J. Smith they have so many bigs with the acquistion of Gooden as well. I'd rather have Larry Hughes bad contract then Wallace's bad contract. SO I think the trade did work for both of them.

G : Duhon , Hinrich , Hughes , Selfosha ,Gordon and S.Brown

SF: Deng , Nocioni

PF: Gooden , T. Thomas , Simmons

C: Noah and Gray

'an_horse'

Interesting to see how it unfolds. I think both teams got abit more exciting

U sure? I havent seem him included...

Gooden , Hughes , Simmons , S.Brown , Marshall , Newble

Szczerbiak and West

J. Smith , Wallace and Griffin

are the 11 I saw

Lebron James is officially on Suicide Watch.

Cavs pressing need... Point Gaurd

What does Danny Ferry do, trade for Ben Wallace

I'm sorry, Drew Gooden is about equal with Ben Wallace, but has a better offensive game, and a smaller contract. What an incredible fuck up.

Congrats to Seattle/OK City, they are setting themselves up with some money to spend to bring in a 2nd piece to pair with Durant.

Cleveland, wow, I'm shocked, what a stupid trade. I like West, he's got a nice game, but he doesn't really help Cleveland get over any hump.

Somebody needs to check Lebrons pulse, make sure he's still breathing, or if his House is already on the market, considering he can't wait to get out of Cleveland soon enough.

I am sure LeBron is very happy with Wally coming to town. Yes, Kidd would have been perfect, along with any solid PG, but Wally will add a lot to this team. And West has shown some nice flashes here and there. This is an interesting trade for the Cavs.

For the Bulls, I'll take Gooden and I'll take Hughes over what we gave up for the most part. I like Hughes when healthy (big when). He is a good guy off the court and can score at times as well as anybody. The thing that bothers me the most is that Thabo has been playing so well as a starter and now you have Hughes. Will Thabo continue to start, even over Hughes? Gooden will be nice and it will pave the way for Noah, the center of the future for the Bulls. It will also allow Gray to get more time, along with more of a role for Tyrus. All in all, an ok trade in the midst of a terrible year.

You are right in a sense. The problem was Cle had no one to get a good PG unless I am missing someone( Bibby possibly?). So they did what they could do. First Gooden groin is acting up again and he is less then 100%. I think Cle shed alot of crap and got 4 quality role players in return. Did they address there most pressing need ? No , but at this point both Cle and CHI NEEDED to make deals for the sake of making a deal. Especially with all the rumors flying around since camp. I dont think either team is worse and maybe it somehow provides a spark... Plus give CLE a PG and they still dont look that scary IMO

I don't believe in the theory that teams need to make deals for the sake of making a deal. Respectfully, WTF does that mean?

lebron has more shooters now for when he drives.

kapono, lebron, and dwight would be a sick threesome. Almost as good as wally, lebron, z.

goop, do you expect Tyrus' minutes to go up as a result of this deal? is he the starter at the power forward spot now?

Yeah, exactly. Gooden and Noah. Although Boylan will probably make some shit up about how everyone needs to earn their new roles. LMAO.

well now reading Shannon was involved too. By the way I can't believe sac passed on the deal we gave them for bibby. And took that deal from Atlanta

Goopster , I was responding to lifesallover post. What I mean though is both teams have had rumors flying around them all season which does hang over a players head , both teams have played below expectations ( Cle more due to injuries) , so both teams needed some "freshness" to there scenery. Does firing a coach not happen to send a message to the players at times? Skiles I think quit because he felt like he had lost his team and was no longer the right guy for the position. So basically my point was these teams need some change even if one can view at as simply lateral movement. Lateral movement would be making a deal for the sake of making a deal IMO. Which I dont and I also agree with your post right ebfore my comment.:shake:

LMAO, sportjunky, sorry. Fantasy bball and you are targeting a Bull. BOL to you.

Noc has been playing out of control. He does whatever the fuck he wants to. Tyrus has looked good recently but who knows if he can keep it up or go back whatever the fuck he was doing before. I believe in Tyrus but then again, I believe in Chicago sports. Take it with a grain of salt.

I agree things need to be shaken up in general for teams from time to time. Hell, the Suns shook up their roster. In that sense, I agree with what you are saying. I just don't like the phrase "making a trade for the sake of a trade."

And SportsNut, if the Cavs had gotten Kidd, then YES, IMO, they would have been scary.

That was my point though and again I was responding to lifesallover post not yours. How could they acquire Kidd ? What pieces did they have? So I was trying to say who did they have a legit shot at acquiring ? No ne really , Possibly Mike Bibby?

With Kidd his offensive game is in such decline that his greatest asset is his passing abilities . True that has always been his gift but like Mike Mussina you still need a fastball to go with your breaking stuff. Kidd to me offensively is so bad right now its like he lost fastball and can only rely on his passing skills. Which he needs athletes and shooters for....Lebron and who else fit...? Kidd didnt make NJ better IMO and the had some talent surrounding him...

:shake:

yeah , silly term but we also agree it kinda fits here..

The Nets had bigger problems than Kidd. That is a different argument/debate.

I see what you are saying and it makes sense. Bibby would have been nice but Kidd's passing with LeBron would have been special. We saw what they did for Team USA.

Everyone keeps on saying they need a PG but Gibson will be their guy. Why are people ignoring this?

Agree again. NJ did have bigger problems but Kidd should have played alot better . His numbers have been in steady decline and even he said last night he needs to get out of his bad habits. Maybe it is that simple...

Also agree with Gibson he looked damn good shooting it in the Rookie / Soph game and I think it helps to get along with your superstar...

Like I said I think Cle did well getting 4 solid role players...

I am no longer a bulls fan until they build a decent fucking team. I already hated just about everyone on the team except for tyrus thomas and thabo, but adding that idiot drew gooden and bum larry hughes for what they paid for ben wallace, I really do not like the team, the players on the team, or the style of play of the team.

Glad to know the majority of Chicago is not like you, still supporting their teams no matter what (excluding the White Sox and Blackhawks). To each his or her own, with all respect.

I don't see the point of supporting a team if they aren't something you like. Why should I support them if I hate most of the players and think their style of play is garbage? I survived the post-jordan days just fine, but I just can't stand this current team...

i am very happy that the cavs did something and decided not to be wondering why their season didn't work out in the end.

That's fine man, like I said, I respect your view and opinion. Just curious, did the 15 win Bulls back in 2000 have a better "style of play" then the current Bulls? You did support them then and not now right?

if people dont like the product thats being put out there they sell it. if anyone has or wants to sell the bulls this season at any point i understand.

if you wanna stick it out. im fine with that, too.

Personally, i feel like this is a step backwards (giving up on wallace and trading our most reliable player in joe smith) and am at a crossroads with what to do.
