Carolinablue Countdown to Vegas Week 6 Plays

Heading out to Vegas for first time ever starting this Friday 10/5 so will be posting my normal BM plays and also plan to play a couple at one of the books there so I can pop my proverbial cherry at the window. For all you Vegas vets, feel free to post any insight for a first-timer in this thread along with the normal discussion about the plays.

Week 5 was a weird one to say the least as I somehow ended up with only a push on the App State total after they put up 49 combined in the first half, but then barely squeaked out 10 in the second half. Can't complain too much though as I got beyond lucky with that UNCC fumble on the goal line at the very end of the game, as that play helped me cover the 16.5 with UAB. Overall ended up 6-5-1 for a small profit, so can't complain, because at the end of the day, it is just like the stock market in the sense that it is all about long-term performance and not getting too overly concerned about any individual week's performance.

Year to Date 32-27-2 +0.788 Units

Week 6 Plays
  • Cincinnati -6.5 126
  • Notre Dame -4.5 110
  • LSU -2.5 115
  • Ball State +4.5 110
  • Northwestern +11.5 120
  • UAB +10 120
  • Toledo -19.5 117
  • USF v UMass Over 69.5 115
  • Liberty v NMSU Over 61.5 110
  • Fresno v Nevada Over 61.5 117
  • ECU +11.5 110

Have fun in Vegas. My two restaurants recommendations if you don't mind leaving the strip: Golden Steer and Lotus of Siam on E Sahara. Golden Steer is old-time Vegas steak joint where Dean, Frank and the boys went. Lotus of Siam is the best Thai food I've ever had. It's in a shitty strip mall. I go to both every time I'm in Vegas. There's a legal weed shop down by the Westgate/Strat end of the strip if you're into that kind of thing. Good selection.

Thanks for the suggestions! Have Red Square booked for dinner Friday night folllowed by front row seats for Zumanity with my lady. Keeping options open for Saturday night but will be hitting Lagasse’s at some point that afternoon to catch some games.

As a Vegas local, I 2nd the Golden Steer! Fabulous steak house! You can sit at Joe DiMaggio's booth among some other greats. Food and service are the bomb. Joe's @ Caesar's is another I'd recommend on the same level as Golden Steer. Enjoy sin city and best of luck this weekend!

Thanks for the recos! Will add these to the list for Sunday as that is when we will probably venture off the strip to do Freemont Street, downtown, and other various places off the beaten path.

Any recos for where I should head on Saturday morning to place some wagers at the window fir the first time? Staying at Harrahs so figured I would just do it there unless you guys have some other advice. Basically just going to mirror as many of my posted plays that I can depending on the lines available Saturday morning.

GOOD LUCK. Be careful on Toledo and ECU

Bowling green is a covering machine on the road in conference 17-5 last 22..though many were as favorites

Temple is good at covering conference games . The Owls are at 71% during the last 5 yrs. ECU is 3-17 ATS their last 20 conference rd games and 2-13 their last conference games as dogs

Tomorrow I will post my top 20 conference trends for the weekend. Under Nevada/Fresno is one of them

Love NWEST/LSU and NOTRE DAME. Have a great trip. I enjoy ml parlays on big favs in vegas to build up bankroll

8 team ml parlay $100 TO WIN $141

CLEMSON -970
CFLA -2500
OHIO ST -3000

I stayed down at freemont. At the D. William hill sportsbook upstairs was pretty gangsta. Like not nice at all hahaha... last month for 4 nights

true but what you are failing to mention is they opened at Oregon and last week had Ga Tech. 2 of the best rushing teams in the country

does Toledo have any defense?

last 3 games points allowed 49,44,49 @ that rate they will need to score about 67 to cover.(which they can do )I just think last weeks travel gives the edge to BG.

We'll see.

good luck

OK. So how did BG's run D do against Eastern Ky? Gave up 389, 6.5 yards a rush.

What did Toledo do last year in this game? Hung 66 on BG and ran for 389, 7.3 yards a carry.

I'm not taking Toledo because of their QB injury situation, but they will run all over BG.

As you say, we'll see.

Restaurant: Herbs and Rye. Half price steaks 5-8p, 12-3 fine dining. So you’ll be in $30 plus $8-10 side for one of the best steaks you’ll ever eat. It’s on Sahara maybe 3 mi east of strip

I think local places are best to watch games. Green valley ranch you’ll have a personal tv and get free drink tix everytime you place wager. That’ll be prob $15 Uber ride tho so $30 round trip. But if you plan on drinking a bunch a local place is where to be. Place station doesn’t offer personal tv and isn’t as nice(but was remodeled recently no longer a dump) would be $5 Uber. Make sure to ask for drink tickets when placing wager. If you watch on strip bring a flask. It’ll be like $8 beer. Also at locals place they will give multiple free drink if playing a machine. There will be bunch of tvs by the bar machines at sports book bars

Best buffet is Ceasers. It’s like $60 but the quality is excellent. Split crab and plethora of seafood.
PBR rock bar great place for a burger. Its expensive for burgers but everything on strip is going to be expensive.
Since you are staying at harrahs you definitely should pop in casino royale bc it’s $2 Michelob. Bout only place left has cheap beer and it’s just north of harrahs

This is Carolinsa thread.Feel free to come in mine

Carolina, My only piece of advice is don’t make Eye contact with any of the women looking at you. 99% of them are “ladies of the night” and they will not leave you alone!! Enjoy

Thanks for taking the time to post in the thread Steve, as I always enjoy good discussion. I’m not a huge trend guy as I tend to view each game as an independent event given all the variables involved when one starts to get into trends, but they are definitely interesting from a sound bite perspective and I have no issue with those who use them as one part of their work, as we all have our own methods for sure.

Again, appreciate the added insight, keep posting your thoughts and I will be sure to drop by your thread before the weekend.

I’m actually not too worried about the QB situation as Mitchell G. had only completed one pass before he was named the starter, so neither guy was experienced before the season and Peters was put in a tough spot having to play the second half against Fresno. Given the BGSU run defense, Peters should be able to find some easy open looks that will build his confidence early on, but again we shall see.

I will be with my lady and some of her friends from Japan, so gotta factor that into the equation as she is cool as hell but I have to respect the fact that it won’t just be me hanging solo on Saturday. Any reco for best place on the strip to catch the games?

Thanks!

Venetian is really nice and its pretty close to Harrah's. Most places on the strip are nice they just might be crowded and the drink prices suck. Harrah's usually doesn't get crowded though. It's not as nice as other places on the strip but its not like its bad. Westgate has a great book. It's not directly on strip but very close. It's like behind the strip. Mirage and Caesar's are also very nice.

Perfect! Thanks for taking the time to respond! Will let you know how it goes. Flying out Friday afternoon and coming back late Monday night.

I never pass up an opportunity for those $2 Michelobs...very jealous.

I used to stay at Harrahs quite a bit. I actually like their sports book and have had some great runs on their craps tables. Enjoy the trip.

Anyone have a nightclub reco for tomorrow night? We will be dressed up so looking for an upscale place with plenty of staff for drink service, cool atmosphere, a big dance floor and located in the strip as we will be coming from Zumanity at NY NY. Basically give me your reco for what someone envisions a Vegas nightclub to look and feel like as it will be our first night and we will be feeling pretty good by that time!
