FCS Playoff Pix went 2-2; now 5-3-1 for playoffsand are included in the figure above.
Had one very bad pick (loss) in Montana St over Sam Houston. What I saw was a total mismatch. Had one very very lucky pick (win) when Mt Union scored two touchdowns in the last 5 seconds ! and covered by a single point. Better to be lucky than good sometimes. And now on to this week’s games.

In the Division III final tonight I can find nothing to hang my hat on. I can’t even find St Tommie’s game by game record anywhere. If this weren’t a championship final on TV, I would pass. But - two undefeated teams are playing, and with nothing to hang my hat on I’m taking the points.

St Thomas +19 v Mt Union WIN

Georgia Southern +9 @ No Dakota St. – The defending champion Bison got some needed experience playing against the triple option last week when they beat Wofford 14-7, the 7 points came on a pass interception returned for a touchdown. The Bison defense kept the Terrier offense off the scoreboard, but they did surrender 260 yards rushing. They will need to repeat that effort this week against the Eagles, who defeated Wofford 17-9 during the regular season and rolled up over 600 yards last week when beating Old Dominion. WIN

The Saturday games will have to wait until tomorrow morning.

I haven't found out much about Valdosta. They seem to have gone further in these playoffs than was expected.
I did see second half of Winston-Salem last week and came away impressed. Pre-tournament W-S was ranked #2 ands Valdosta was 17. I will use that as my rationale here.
Winston Salem St -4 1/2 v Valdosta St

Sam Houston St -2 1/2 @ Eastern Wash - Sam Houston shoots for the tri-fecta against Big Sky teams here. A narrow win at home over Cal Poly did not impress. But last week's dismantling of Montana St on the road did. A repeat of that game gets it done here.

They gave up incredible field position on that possession and I was just wondering why they didn't punt and try and stop them and get the ball back?

Punt there and we never see the ball again, IMO. Our defense didn't force a punt vs them last year and you saw what happened last week. At least going for it, if you don't get it, we still had a shot to tie it up.

Dwight- as I understand it, there are 5 seeds in the playoff. And I can't tell you what the 5 is all about. So I'm not aware of SHSU being an 8 or if there even was an 8.

I underestimated SHSU - won on Cal Poly but lost on Montana St. In that game, there just seemed to be a big discrepancy between the two teams which accounts for SHSU being a road favorite. I do like their chances of winning this game but hate like hell to have to give meaningful points.
