Boxing tonight Davis vs Woo

Tonight I bought Kelvin Davis -225 to beat Nahir "Woo" Albright.
Yeah, that's right the guy's nickname is "Woo."

Not "Lights Out" like Toney.
Not "Thunder" like Gatti.
Not "Bonecrusher" like Smith (although he was more like Bonehugger than Crusher - the guy lived to clinch and hold.)
Nope, this guy's fighter nickname is Woo.

I'd bet against him on principal alone just for that offense.
If he was Asian, and it was Wu, I'd give him a pass, but it's Woo.
Why stop at just one Woo?
Why not two and make it Woo Woo?
That way, when he does his walk to the ring his fans could shout out train noises, "Woo, woo!"
Anyway, totally unforgivable, even in the singular form.

I actually have real reasons for betting on Davis (Do you really think I'd lay better than 2-1 because a boxer has a terrible nickname? Come to think of it, I might. But it would have to be a really terrible nickname.)

I'm betting against him because he hasn't fought since...
OCTOBER of 2023.
That screams SLACKER!

He also got DQ'd from a fight when they found marijuana in his system afterwards.
So, POTHEAD SLACKER!
(Nothing against herb, been there, done that, but it's not something I want in a boxer in the ring.)

Davis also has the edge in just about every other category: height, reach, weight, age, and KO percentage.

Barring injury, the usual reason fighters have a long layoff is because they just don't like fighting anymore.
And I love betting against guys like that.

You'll never see me lay juice like this in any other sport, but in boxing it's the nature of the beast, though I rarely do it there either.
I have in the past though, I used to write for a boxing magazine in exchange for ringside seats. Going to the big fights was one of the best things about Vegas.
Especially when I used to get an inside tip about a fighter having problem making weight, or slacking in training camp.

Davis -225

Yeah, Kelvin's brother Keyshawn didn't make weight. Not making weight is disrespectful, to your opponent, the fans who bought tickets and your team.

Correction - it was Keyshawn who got DQ'd for pot, not Woo.

Kelvin gets knocked down in the first round but the refs call it a slip. He's hurt, saved by the bell.
Not sure he'll make it out of the second.

How is Davis a better than 2- Fav??!!
Has holes in his defense, moves backward in a straight line, has no head movement.
Survived round 2 but he's lost both of the first two rounds.

Fighters off long layouts often look unprepared, unready, and/or unwilling. Got to give him credit, Woo is none of those, he's here to fight.
Davis was probably lost all five rounds.
Bad 'cap on my part.

I'm in trouble, I got my money on a runner not a fighter.
My boy is backpedaling for all three minutes of the round.

Last round goes to Davis, he's landing but he's got no power.
Luckily Gabby's going to get me a piece of this loss back, she passed her number before halftime.

Going to the score cards.
My guy got beat but that's the thing about boxing, it's the only sport you can bet on a loser and still cash your ticket because it's so crooked.
But regardless of the cards, Woo won.
