What's up, CTG? :tiphat:

Old timer popping back in for the bowls. Sorry I missed most of the college football season around here. Long story short...back home in LA from Seattle, and found that my quality of life simply kept going up & up the less time I spent in front of a fuckin' computer...so I rolled with it as much as possible outside of work. Anyhow, will leave it at that since it's prolly not the best wisdom to share here, lol...but even if un-posted...it was still a decent, profitable, & enjoyable football season. Hopefully that will continue through the bowl season as well.

Will post all my plays here, and somewhere below in the thread...at least as much as I'm able to be around thru the holidays...but will try my best to have at least a little action on everything throughout the bowl season...if for nothing else, entertainment purposes...aka, shits & giggles. Anyhow, hope you're all doing well...and I wish you & yours a Merry Christmas...and of course a Happy Bowl Season!

first set of plays...just some Pac-12 favs to get things going...

12/19 - Las Vegas Bowl
Utah (-2.5) over BYU (-110) for 1

12/26 - Heart of Dallas Bowl
Washington (-8.5) over So Miss (-110) for 1

12/29 - Armed Forces Bowl
California (-7) over Air Force (-110) for 1

12/30 - Holiday Bowl
USC (-3) over Wisconsin (-110) for 1

not one for write-ups, but happy to discuss anything in particular. other than UW though, there's not really any line value to any of these plays in terms of my PR #s. guess a common denominator to them (other than it being four Pac-12 favs, lol) would be the SOS disparities...but that's just one of many factors in these match ups.

back with more later.

I'll be back in tomorrow night to chime in..one def to discuss..

Happy Holidays bud.

lunchtime additions...a couple Pac-12 overs...

12/19 - New Mexico Bowl
Arizona/New Mexico ov65 (-110) for 1

12/26 - Sun Bowl
Miami/Washington St ov62 (-110) for 1

actually lean a bit towards NM and Miami, tbh...but liking points in both, above all.

The one I wanted to discuss was the our conference matchup...USC and Wisky...

Just wanted some thoughts there...

Wisky always seems like a live dog. Never thought they would've hung with Auburn last Bowl season. Looking forward to this discussion. So far I'm hearing USC has too many athletes for Wisky on the outside. What do we have in the trenches is more important IMO. GL

I texted some thoughts to BAR, which obviously doesn't do much good here...so will try to relay the gist of it. That said, the line's fairly tight...obviously the game could go either way, depending upon various factors. USC's d-line and LBs will need to step up/tackle though vs the run, no doubt about it.

Anyhow, much of why I'm on USC is as follows:

USC's like 12-0 vs the Big 10 since '02, or something crazy like that.
USC's won their L2 bowls, and 9 of their L11...since '01 or '02. They lost the famous game to Vince/Tejas in Jan '06, and then again to GT in Dec '12 after their punishment.
Wisky's lost 4 of their L5 bowls, or 6 of their L8...including their L2 vs the Pac-12, both for the roses...although last year was solid.
SOS...Wisky hasn't beaten a team with a winning record TY...so maybe their defense isn't quite as good as their stats say they are. Miami-Ohio 3-9, Troy 4-8, Hawaii 3-10, Nebby 5-7, Purdue 2-10, Illy 5-7, Rutgers 4-8, Maryland 3-9, and Minny 5-7. I don't see a top tier offense there, so they haven't faced a unit like USC's...which is the #10 scoring offense in the nation.
SOS, again...USC beat Utah (9-3) when they were #3 in the country...not to mention both AZ schools, Cal, UCLA, etc. But also look at the 2015 Toughest Opponent Units Faced in one of Steele's newsletters. Yeah, USC's defense is an issue...but they faced the top rushing offenses (7th)...they faced the top passing offenses (14th)...while Wisky sure as hell didn't.

Look...I agree, Wisky could be a live dog...IF USC comes out flat, that is. Just don't see that happening here. Obviously Wisky has the better defense. (Rush defense...Wisky #4, USC #45. Pass efficiency defense...Wisky #6, USC #66.)
Conversely, the offenses...USC's better running, and especially passing. This is Cody's last game. Think he excels in the spot. On the flip side, Stave sucks. Might be too harsh a statement on the Badger QB, but that's my 2 cents.

Travel's obviously on USC's side. A motivational advantage/angle for one side or another is unknown. Can make a case either way, so why bother guessing? What's also in question, as wiseplayer points out, is who will win in the trenches. Tbh, don't know yet...although I'm of the opinion neither side will dominate the other, from either side of the ball...unless of course it turns out one of the teams doesn't show up.

Anyhow, I jumped around...but hope that makes sense. Lets discuss more, if you have a differing POV. Bottom line though...if motivation is relatively equal here...I feel I backed the stronger/better team, who played a significantly stronger/better schedule, and a 3 pt line is basically picking the SU winner in bowl season...not to mention that the greatest disparity in this match-up is at the QB position, imo.

homer alert...just another Pac-12 fav added to the mix...

12/26 - Foster Farms Bowl
UCLA (-6.5) over Nebraska (-110) for 1

my PR #s only put it at -7.5, but i had to play on the Bruins under a TD. looking for 3 in a row over the cornhuskers! besides, this bowl has always been about the favs covering...

back later... :shake:
it's about time for me to head out of conference, and dive into some of these "lessor" match-ups early on in the Bowl Season. time for some dogs to make it onto my card as well. ;)

next set of plays...some action to get me thru the weekend...

12/19 - Camellia Bowl
Ohio (+7.5) over Appalachian St (-105) for 1/2

12/19 - Cure Bowl
Georgia St ML (+130) over SJST for 1/2

12/19 - New Orleans Bowl
Louisiana Tech (-2) over Arkansas St (-105) for 1/2

12/21 - Miami Beach Bowl
USF ML (+120) over WKU for 1/2

just half unit plays. a couple of these are the definition of a coin flip game. nevertheless, can honestly say that i'm excited to watch 3 of these match ups.

uno mas for tonight...this line is on it's way to 70...

12/26 - Pinstripe Bowl
Indiana/Duke ov67.5 (-110) for 1

hopefully the weather will cooperate. fwiw, leaning toward Duke as well.

That should be a whole lot of scoring.

IU is damn good...just had to play in Big Ten East...any other conference other than SEC West in America they win a few more games. They had UM,OSU and MSU games right there for taking...or at least a scare.

Excellent point. I should be leaning their way, not Duke's.

Back later...but fwiw, I added SDSt -1 earlier with the news Gunner wouldn't make the trip. Full unit play. Was leaning that way in Hawaii...SDSt is on a roll...but this was the icing on the cake. Under looking good too, IMO.

quoting myself again, lol...but adding additions...

12/23 - GoDaddy Bowl
Bowling Green/Georgia Southern ov66 (-110) for 1

12/24 - Hawaii Bowl
SDST (-1) over Cincinnati (-110) for 1

following Steele's Pressbox total.

71.5
did a service pop this today?

dunno but duke lost their best defender and early indications are the weather will be ok ... unlike that bowling green game (where like you, i have the over).

Also, regarding the bowling green total .. any concern the plays get in slower?

71.5
did a service pop this today?

Somebody(s) must have gotten a Christmas bonus and bet a bunch of games. Went to bed and woke up and looked at the screen and I think I saw prob 10 games that moved 3 points on side/total.

Rooting PAC with ya, GL!

next couple of plays...action for a couple of coin flip games...

12/22 - Idaho Potato Bowl
Utah St (-6.5) over Akron (-110) for 1/2

12/22 - Boca Raton Bowl
Temple (-1.5) over Toledo (-115) for 1/2

don't like having all these favs in early December bowls, but couldn't avoid it with these half unit plays. (favs were 5-0 SU & 3-2 ATS opening bowling day, right? makes me think some upsets are coming our way.) anyhow, my PR #s say both lines are spot on...so what was the tipping point to get me on these sides?

Utah St will have Keeton, and I think the prep time will have helped him. Much closer travel to Boise. And Akron's defense might be a bit overrated, in terms of the weak competition they faced. Besides, it's never a bad idea to go bowling against the MAC...not to mention that Akron's 0-5 SU & 0-4-1 ATS vs teams who are bowling this winter. Anyhow, I think it'll be tight/close...but that's kinda the difference here for me...QB play/offense, travel distance/familiarity with the field, and kind of a different or tangential way to look at SOS. Akron's the hotter team heading into the game, I guess...but conversely, bowl history is on Utah St's side.

Georgia St/SJST was the ultimate coin flip game for me, and obviously that didn't work out. Temple/Toledo is just a hair behind that match-up, imo, when it comes to calling something a coin flip...so hopefully this one will have a better outcome. We all know Toledo's got the offensive edge, and Temple's got the defensive edge...overall though, it's a pretty tight/tough match-up to call. Tbh, I looked hard at backing Toledo here. The one thing that kept me off it...so the main reason I played Temple, full disclosure...is the coaching change. May be wrong in the end...but in something so closely matched, that ended up being the deciding factor for me...nothing more.

4-1 on 12/19. Enjoyable first day of the bowl season, even if Utah was the wrong side...well, following that 1st Q BYU meltdown.

the MAC was like the blind squirrel that found a nut today. they should be 3-0 ATS to date bowling. crazy...

anyhow, 4-4 thru the first 8 bowls...thx to a little 3 game losing streak with these half unit plays. :(

nevertheless, the next set of plays...aka the remaining action to get me well thru/beyond the holiday weekend...

12/23 - Poinsettia Bowl
NIU (+10) over Boise St (-120) for 1/2

12/24 - Bahamas Bowl
MTST/WMU ov63.5 (-105) for 1/2

12/26 - St Petersburg Bowl
Marshall (-5) over UConn (-105) for 1/2

12/26 - Independence Bowl
Tulsa/Virginia Tech ov61.5 (-105) for 1/2

that should get me thru 20 bowls. if i'm not back before, have a Merry Christmas.

:cheers3:

7-5 so far...losing too many half unit/action plays though. heading into a six pack of bowls tomorrow/Saturday, so hopefully it'll be a good one. two more...one for manana, one for Tuesday...

12/26 - Foster Farms Bowl
Nebraska/UCLA ov61 (-105) for 1

12/29 - Armed Forces Bowl
Air Force/Cal ov67.5 (-105) for 1

more Pac-12 points. hope you all had a great Christmas.

12-7 to date. 5-2 on Saturday, but the Bruin loss kinda left a sour taste.
Took the kids to finally see Star Wars tonight though, after a nice dinner at a local Japanese teppan grill. Freakin' awesome night/movie! Back home now, a satisfied man...just sippin' away at my Maker's, before calling it a night...and realized I hadn't played Monday's games. (No more days off bowling from here on out, not counting the NC game.) So anyhow, a couple more half unit additions...

12/28 - Military Bowl
Pitt (+3) over Navy (-105) for 1/2

12/28 - Quick Lane Bowl
CMU (+4.5) over Minnesota (-105) for 1/2

tbh, a couple of tough games/sides for me. was especially tough to go against Navy, when just about everything (other than my gut) was telling me to back the home team. we'll see...

the remaining games for today...all half unit/action plays...

12/29 - Russell Athletic Bowl
Baylor/UNC un68.5 (-105) for 1/2

12/29 - Arizona Bowl
Nevada (+3.5) over Colorado St (-115) for 1/2

12/29 - Texas Bowl
Texas Tech/LSU un74 (-105) for 1/2

should've stuck with numbers/capping over my gut. backing Pitt was a mistake. despite the reverse line mvmt...i guess sometimes when it looks/seems too easy, it actually is. anyhow, 12-9 now...still dropping too many of the half unit/action plays...so there i go and add three more to the mix, lol.
not trying to be contrarian, but my first two unders come in bowls that should be high scoring affairs. if i'm wrong, i'll prolly end up "buying off" with in-game action...but hopefully the baylor injuries will keep the points down in Orlando...and tech won't be as brutal as normal vs the run in Houston.
as for the Mountain West game...nothing but a coin flip. ;)

up late, sippin' on the Maker's again...adding the rest of 12/30 before calling it a night...

12/30 - Birmingham Bowl
Auburn (-3) over Memphis (-110) for 1/2
Memphis/Auburn ov62 (-110) for 1/2

12/30 - Belk Bowl
Mississippi St (-6) over NCST (-105) for 1
NCST/Mississippi St ov60 (-105) for 1

12/30 - Music City Bowl
Louisville/A&M un47.5 (-105) for 1/2

it's damn near 4am, lol. this can't be good...

was dumb to go against navy...was stupid to go with those two unders today as well. winning the important games/plays, i guess...but half unit flyers for action keep chipping away at bottom line, dammit. oh well...on to tomorrow...

well, i'm stunned that Wisky was simply the better team tonight. they somehow even had the better/ballsier QB tonight as well. yet another Trojan QB who's not going to make it at the next level, imo. think USC also jumped the gun on removing the interim tag, which is good for my Bruins.
anyhow, 3-3 today...but up some change...so 18-14 bowling to date. made a bunch of additions throughout the day, so will post them in a minute.

a few additions for the final day of the year...and a few additions for the new year...

12/31 - Peach Bowl
Houston (+7) over Florida St (-105) for 1

12/31 - Orange Bowl
Oklahoma (-3.5) over Clemson (-105) for 1
Oklahoma/Clemson ov63.5 (-105) for 1

12/31 - Cotton Bowl
Michigan St (+17) to MSU/Alabama un52.5 for 1.2 to win 1

1/1 - Fiesta Bowl
Ohio St (-6) over Notre Dame (-105) for 1

1/1 - Sugar Bowl
Ole Miss (-7) over Oklahoma St (-110) for 1

1/2 - Alamo Bowl
TCU (pk) over Oregon (-105) for 1
TCU/Oregon ov79 (-105) for 1

main reason i'm on houston is motivation...although fsu missing their QB doesn't hurt either. tbh, if it wasn't for the revenge angle, i might've been swayed to back clemson. they can downplay last year's ass-raping all they want, but it's the elephant in the room. like bama in a low scoring, nail-biter...but also respect msu's ability in these games/situations, thus the teaser.

Happy New Year, CTG. :cheers3:

Well, unless your last name is Boykin. Not only did you cost me $210 overnight, but your idiocy cost the American public what shaped up to be a truly classic bowl game. Hope karma rips you a new one, sir!

Tbh, my first thought this morning upon hearing the Boykin news was this...
Out of all the times the police grossly overstep their boards, blatantly abusing their authority, why wasn't this one of them? I'd have been down with some taser action, or a little tag team activity...considering Boykin screwed up a perfectly awesome Alamo Bowl match-up.

Anyhow, moving on... :hang:

4 more additions, 2 remaining...not counting the natty...

1/1 - Outback Bowl
Northwestern (+9) over Tennessee (-115) for 1

1/1 - Citrus Bowl
Michigan (-4) over Florida (+100) for 1

1/1 - Rose Bowl
Iowa (+6) over Stanford (-105) for 1

1/2 - TaxSlayer Bowl
Penn St (+6) over Georgia (-105) for 1

and i'd be lying if it didn't make me really uncomfortable to be backing the Big 10 like this today. wasn't my intention...just the way it turned out.

well, 3-2 on 1/1/16...but damn, i was 100% wrong regarding stanford/iowa and where their collective heads were in this game. yikes...

other than the natty, the final two additions for this winter's bowl season...

1/2 - Liberty Bowl
Arkansas TT ov34.5 (-110) for 1

1/2 - Cactus Bowl
Arizona St (+2) over WVU (-110) for 1

lean towards the over in Phoenix as well, but need to see how the Mountaineer QB comes out of the gates.

was good to be back around the site for the bowls...even if it was just popping in for a few minutes late at night. hard to believe...but come July, it'll be 10 years since we started this place. (time seems to fly by quicker and quicker the fuckin' older i get, smh.) anyhow, just feeling nostalgic i guess...but it is kinda cool to see that the place stood the test of time. thanks to all here for being part of that.

:cheers3:
