Bowl Games (Not CFP) Discussion Thread

Very drawn to over in the last game tonight, no feel on KSU/Rutgers, lean to under in the first game. Hard to find sides for me today but pretty much impossible to ignore those records.

Was thinking of reasons to be against Toledo. I know they typically have poor bowl showings, often as favorites and Jason Candle is a weak coach. Did cover small number vs Wyoming last year in a 1 pt loss.

Pitt is dogged more than favored in bowls and Toledo is an underachieving favorite in bowls, but is not dogged much.

Pitt is 1-2 ATS as a fav in their last 3 chalk spots, lost 2 of those straight up and beat EMich by 4 laying 13.

Probably will have to just wait and play live

I played Toledo +9.5 when the line opened. +6.5. Not sure if it goes lower based on qb news.

Pitt is starting a walk-on RS qb. Has played in 2 games. 6-9 46 yards.

Trying not to overreact to the news of Holstein being out. I know Pitt isn’t very good, but regardless of who’s at quarterback, it’s still a jump-up in competition and conference all around for the athletes that Pittsburgh will be bringing today compared to Toledo. Talk about a game that I should absolutely stay away from, but probably won’t be able to. :)

I know Pitt has the WCU HC Kerwin Bell’s son as OC. Not exactly the same but WCU Fr backup QB had lots of success filling in for their good starter several games this year. So could be QB friendly system.

Any of the skill guys out for Pitt?

Leading WR Mumpfield declared for the draft and opted out

Without starting quarterback Eli Holstein, backup quarterback Nate Yarnell and starting running back Desmond Reid, who are all out with injuries.

Also without leading wide receiver Konata Mumpfield, who has opted out of this one.

I agree. They just are on a 5 game losing streak. I just see them motivated to play a MAC school. But maybe not losing 6 in a row is motivation enough.

But yes. Talent wise Pitt should win. I just didn't want to lay near DDs with them.

I've only played 3 non playoff games. Not looking to play anymore either. Just not worth it. I played Memphis. Toledo +9.5 and Minnesota -4.5 when they opened.

For somebody like me, I have to just play it all live. If something interesting develops then good. If not I can do something else.

I was asking because I went to look for the over props. I saw some had 90 yards and my 1st available was 107. Big swing, didn’t end up mattering.

I'm interested to see what Sanders does with his CU stars tomorrow night. I know he said "they gonna play" but does that mean a couple of series, a quarter, the entire game or something in the middle.

Hard for me to get into the bowl games bc the first question is will either of these teams care?

I would assume Navy has motivation to play just bc they are Navy. Anyone have a quick update on which teams may try to win today?

Yes both records, thats what I said. He's already cashed over 9.5 and the yardage. Sometimes, its this easy.
For sure!

Great call.

I did get a nervous when they immediately pulled him after the first record and he didn't play again that drive (odd).

He's so good.

All I know is Deion better be better in Bowl games than he was at Jackson St. He got beat both years as a huge favorite in the Celebration Bowl

Apparently terrible weather in Birmingham today, not really sure who that favors because both teams will have QBs who can move the ball on the ground without handing it off. I expect the clock will be moving at a pretty good clip in this one.

I am on Iowa State big today so plan accordingly. Its been quite awhile since Miami won a bowl game and I just can't see Cam playing very much plus that defense is as bad as it gets.

What has Poffenbarger looked like with his reps this year?

Saw last night that Eckhaus, another good former FCS QB held his own

I just googled him, see he is transfered out to North Texas

Late to the party with the early start but looking at live UConn and BC if they make sense. Only thing pregame for me is over in ECU/NCSU. Been some positive line movement towards a few unders today but unders have gotten beaten late a few times...go figure in bowl season

This wasabi bowl reminds me of a great snack that I haven't had in awhile; wasabe edamame. I might have to go out and find some of that stuff.

I bet these games because I'll bet anything but figuring out who's going to be motivated for these games is quite the challenge.

Yeah, there was some venom there yesterday. Not sure of its origin but it was there.

I bet BYU / Colorado is in that same vein tonight, for some reason.

I'm fascinated by this game. Very curious how the Buffs play this. But I would expect a lot of 15 yard flags. When you play BYU, it can get real chippy, real fast.
