Assuming that Bama wins the Iron Bowl, the SEC won't use all of their allotments and the Pac 10 won't use all of theirs either, in fact the Pac 10 will not use two of theirs if AZ beats ASU.

MWC needs an extra spot. SBC could need several, MAC needs additional spots, WAC, CUSA...you get the picture, not a good year to be a mid major with only 6 wins. Lots of small schools are going to get "screwed".

If it ends up being BC vs. cincinatti in the orange bowl, then we could see the lowest recorded rating for a BCS bowl.

Chick Fil A guys were talking with the local sports talk radio station here, and they said that they would love to have UNC as their choice, and they went through all the rules regarding how they could choose the Heels over other ACC teams if it came to that (had to be within 1 game of the higher slotted team in the conference, or if not, had to be 5 BCS slots higher, etc etc). They kept talking about how they have the 2nd pick (after the BCS bowl) and that it had nothing to do with having to pick the 2nd ranked team in the ACC, since the slots are based on picks not rankings in conference.

They also talked about how the Heels would sell their allotment out since they hadn't been to Atlanta since 2001, and they would be the team they were focusing on as long as all the required rules were met.

Will be interesting to see how it plays out, but for any of this to be relevant, the Heels would have to beat Duke of course, as that would guarantee them finishing within 1 game of any other higher slotted team 4-4 conf vs 5-3 conf).

USC fans and media do not want to play a Big 10 team again in the Rose Bowl. They want to play a Texas, OU, Florida, Bama, type team in the Fiesta Bowl.

No way UNC should go to Atlanta with the way they are playing now.

So Boise State is going to go undefeated again just so they can go to their own bowl? I mean, I'm no fan of this team, but isn't playing the #8 team in the ACC on your homefield for about the 20th time kind of a slap in the face after winning out?

MWC and the WAC are trying to setup a BYU/TCU vs BSU Poinsetta Bowl. It'd be a great game either way.

^picks, i think either one of those mwc teams would smoke bsu

Not sure about BYU, but TCU would win by 14+ IMO. I still think TCU is the best team in the conference even though other Utah fans get pissed at me for saying it. They'll roll whoever is put in front of them in a bowl game.

I dont know how Im gonna make it all the way to New Years day...

Hopefully the anticipation of playing Oregon Fucking State again doesnt kill me

:hang:

Penn State vs. USC

Great defensive game. I think Penn State takes it.

BEAVERS WHAT A BUNCH OF FRAUDS LOL

USC still has a shot at the national championship, although it is very remote.

I'll go ahead and slot them in the Rose Bowl, though, and change it later if necessary.

Confirmed:

USC to the Rose Bowl

I'm liking this possibility, depending on who gets the at large BCS bid:

Fiesta--Utah v. Boise St.

Oregon State would still go if UCLA somehow beats USC next week...

but assuming that doesnt happen, thank god its not gonna be PSU/OrSU

No wanted to see that...

Penn State will give USC all they can handle...especially if they come in disinterested about playing 'another slow Big 10 team'

Perhaps. I think if USC is even halfway motivated they win and cover against PSU.

If they do that, USC may actually be able to convince the Pac-10 and the Rose Bowl committee that the traditional tie-in is actually bad for the conference under the modern BCS era. The Rose Bowl has had very good success when teams from other conferences go there and USC goes to a different bowl.

That's what I thought in the 07 Rose and I got...burned.

Yeah, but this time theyre actually publicly stating that they dont want to go to the Rose Bowl again just to play a slow big 10 team...

Penn State aint no Illinois...

And Joe Pa is pretty damn good in bowl games...

I;m talking about UM vs. USC when line was -1. UM is a lot like PSU was this year in the season of 06..PSU has a coaching edge over Carr though.

HUNT

This USC team is not near as good as the ones that beat UM. Really in 03 I think UM if things didn't fall apart early could of had that one.
-----PRESSURE. U of M could not keep USC off Navarre or Henne clean

Toney Pape looked like a beast against Will Smth and then Udeze whips him

----Well it wasn't that easy it's called schemes. PETE is the best. Will Smith is the much beter pro-----pro-bowler

KEY for PSU is Pass Pro. USC kills these midwestern teams

---------PSU in this game is a gamble. USC with a month to prepare in bowl games are MONEY

ANY bowl game since Pete has been their let alone Rose Bowl backyard

Best in bus with extra time to prepare

-----BUT, I think this could be the year. I mean USC is due for a loss in the Rose are they not? WEll that's not sound capping

But what is is this USC is not nearly as good as past USC teams that have won the Rose.

Offensively they are a notch or two below.

Defensively ----maybe better as a whole However

-----weakness of USC is run defense. oregon only comparable run offense to Penn STATE and Oregon was coming off qb injuries not set their yet and were one dimensional

Ohio State powered USC --- had it but got behind. Oregon St. ran but who knows how ready USC was

Penn State top 3 OLINE nationally

-----PSU will play it safe and not get cute like Michigan f'ing leaving in nobody to protect what the hell was that? PSU leaves max protection in, one of best Big Ten teams as far as that

--Run the ball, plataction

Whre I LOVE the PSU matchup is defensively. USC has killed Big Ten teams on man on man passes.

PSU zone Bradley zone. TOM BRADLEY this guy has it now.

The toss sweeps of USC will be negated, the Havili wheel routes negated

-----Bradley zone extended it's like a blanket---very hard to get any sideline to sideline action on them. Very very sound

---USC offense is built predicated upon one on one matchups. Mismatches. Bradley zone negates that.

Think about it HUNT. Michigan their weakness was giving up big plays safeties stuck in quicksand. USC was able to get alot of man on man stuff, use motion and get some matchups to manipulate. WOn't get that on Bradley.

Also USC run as weak as been in years so DT Still and company losses maybe prevented PSU from Title game but they will be adequate

----Lastly, USC DE said something about he doens't want to play in a Rose Bowl cause they will kill another big ten team. He wants another bowl

---------Will be a tough challenge for Pete to rise his kids up again. Always does it can't doubt him but things have been easy

----PSU will be sky high

PSU matches up nicely. DOMINANT running attack, protection

Great defense, Bradley zone. BRADLEY

Thing is PSU will be dogs. MAybe +10???

heh shouldn't be that high but the line could come and rise, rise, rise, rise near bowl time

I mean PETE never loses right he is GOD USC in the Rose ??? Come on give me a break these guys never lose

KEY will be for PSU to come out and STAY in the game early

Dont' turn the fucking ball over

----michigan/Illinois got down EARLY

USC in this game keys keys keys on the run like no other bitch. Carr like an idiot tried to run the zone stretch with Hart every play the fist quarter. Didn't matter if he stuck with it it was never going to work.

----PSU can keep USC scoring limited early so key will be offense not screwing you over

PETE shuts down run, gets early lead, let's the dogs loose and the FIGHT ON band plays throughout the night

-----PSU just needs to play PSU ball. PSU doesn not have a fancy passing game. They can dink and dunk. Just manage. Just manage. 1st down here and there early. Play defense.

Make it a PSU game

BRadley won't let USC jump out and turn it into a PETE let the dogs lose

PSU is going to make this a Big Ten GAme

i still think we see an ohio st vs alabama sugar bowl.

Please Dear God no.

OSU would get raped.

WORST matchup in the world. Big physical offensive line.

Defense won't let Pryor's one dimensional bullshit and Beanie run ride.

----Could we please have an SEC team that we would matchup well with we always get stuck in games that are lost before the coin flip

---TOSU would beat Georgia

Boise deserves the BCS.

TOSU lost TWO games. Come on . Everyobdy else all the W's were pattsies.

No quality wins

@ Oregon for Boise is more quality

----Feel like NOtre Dame getting in undeservedly

Dame it's EASY to get in a BCS game

USC just needs to beat UCLA, but that shouldn't be tough.

I would be so fucking pissed if that happens and their has been alot of talk about it on the message boards.

I agree with you RJ. Unfortunately USC won't go and try to twist any arms to make changes. They save a ton of money going to the Rose bowl plus they get the national exposure blowin out a Big 10 teams ass.

Texas and Ohio St are going to meet in the Fiesta Bowl.

I'm still holding out hope for Texas in the MNC against either OU or Florida. Could happen with a Mizzou win or Florida winning. Florida is down far enough in the computers that Texas may end up #2. Longshot, but the math works out.

Great stuff O-State...We will definitely be talking about that game a ton, love to hear Tony Pape's name mentioned haha..Elvis!

Yup Horn sounds right...

currently looks like this if you have the faves winning:

UF/OU
PSU/USC
tOSU/Texas
Bama/Utah
Cincy/VT

Apparently theres talk of a backroom deal between the Fiesta and Sugar Bowls where the Fiesta takes Utah and the Sugar takes OSU due to the Sugar having Hawaii last year and travel concerns with Utah being lessened if theyre closer to home...

I think the locks are:
SEC Winner vs Oklahoma in the BS Title Game
ACC Winner vs Cincy in the No One Is Gonna Watch This Game Bowl
PSU vs. USC in the Winner Gets a Split of the Title Bowl

Then its looking like:
Texas vs Utah in The Kick Texas Fans in The Balls Bowl
OSU vs SEC Loser in the Annual Assblasting of OSU by an SEC Team Bowl

Yeah I believe Fiesta and Sugar would get first picks for losing their team which would be Texas and Bama. Then with the next second round picks the Fiesta gets first pick out of the remaining BCS teams not tied into a conference bowl game. They would definitley choose Ohio St. because the fans travel well and it would be much higher rated game.

I would love to see a rubber match in Phoenix. The issue is how will Texas show up? Pissed off or disappointed?

Yep. Heard from some decent Utah sources that the Fiesta is likely to take Utah. Not a horrible deal for them in terms of bringing fans to the game as Utah brought 55K to the '04 beatdown of Pitt. Might not be the most viewed game ever, but it'll sure as shit draw a bigger rating than the Orange Bowl. While Texas fans would be dissapointed I can't say I blame them. I wouldn't want to pull an OU against a non BCS school either. :)

I would not be that happy with Wisky in the Insightbowl -- Damn thing on the NFL Network, no one gets that damn channel on cable in the state.

Agree there. Need to have 2 SEC vs. Big XII games.

That way nobody can ever tell if the conferences are overrated or not. Might as well make Boise State play Utah as well so that there is no chance a BCS team looks stupid.

there will be alot of pressure for the Fiesta to take Utah, but they will prefer the tOSU/Texas matchup.

tOSU has been to Zona three times in four years and represent in huge numbers.

If they go, are you going? If we get a Texas vs. OSU matchup, we'll have to have a nice friendly bet.
