So it's time to weigh in...
Happy Gameday to all, especially
@aplous @Lexington 125 and
@DOUBLEUP4LIFE
I will be as unbiased as possible.
Case in point, I think Buffalo is a smidge better than KC overall. Neutral field, I'd prob lean their way. There have been several games in which I thought the Bills were borderline unstoppable this season and a few where they left me scratching my head. I did not feel they played particularly well last week. I thought Baltimore was the better team and when they weren't turning it over, did pretty much what they wanted to do.
Josh is a beast. He has played here enough times that the crowd won't affect him. It doesn't pain me at all to say to this point he's Sham to Mahomes's Secretariat (look up Sham and you will find one of the all time greatest horses who happened to be born at the wrong time. His second place in the Derby to Secretariat is still the second fastest Derby ever run.. but I digress). Point being, hes awesome. What was surprising to me is that he had 7 games of his 18 with under 200 yards passing. I think the play for Spags and KC is to force them to beat you through the air somehow. Bend but don't break, force FGs in the red zone. If Buffalo runs for 150-200 yards, it's a wrap. Gotta also limit Shakir after the catch. Really nice player, belongs in an offense like Buff or KC and really does a good job.
Mahomes is Mahomes. If you think he is elite and an all time competitor, it can't be a good thing that the narrative (even from Schefter today in a wildly baffling series of tweets from a guy who relies on teams for info) is that he can't win without the refs. I think Petty Mahomes (if protected by his tackles) is going to have a sizeable chip on his shoulder.
Two good defenses here. Can't say much. Would be very beneficial if the Chiefs could establish the ground game, but it needs to be Hunt and not Pacheco. Pacheco has not been himself since he came back. Wouldn't be surprised to see a decent amount of defensive holdings and PI today from Blakeman's crew against both teams who typically play very physical in the secondary.
TE play will be very important. Neither team covers the TE particularly well, very middle of the road numbers. I think all 3 will get theirs with Noah Gray getting a couple looks as well.
Special teams, slight edge to KC. Bass has made some big kicks since last year's miss, will be interesting.
Coaching, edge to KC. I don't think McDermott moves the needle. Brady is excellent. I think HC, OC, DC, STC, Chiefs have a pretty decent edge there.
I'm rolling with my guys. I am banking on the D stepping up, and Mahomes stepping up. But if Allen gets it done, I'll be the first to congratulate him because going into that stadium with those psychopaths right on top of you is not easy.
Chiefs ML for me.
Kinda rambled but I think it happens.
