How's it goin bro? Hope you had a good summer.

Just thought I'd get your input on this game. Despite all the changes for Michigan, I'm liking Big Blue at -3.

Thanks bud!

:shake:

From doing some reading on Utah.....they look to be pretty solid.

I think the number might be that low for a reason.

The big question is how good is Meeechigan going to be early in the year under Rodriguez. Granted they have waaaaay more talent than a team like MN, but changing to the spread, let alone the spread option is not an easy task. Sometimes you get it, sometimes you don't. Not to mention Little Blue has NO QB on the roster who fits that offense. Regardless of their athletic ability, you can't fit a square peg in a round hole.

Anything less than a MWC title for Utah will be a disappointment. This team is made to win and win the tough games on the road. I think the number will move back up once Blue fans get a glimpes of the team, but I for one would not be shocked for a Utah upset here and really wouldn't consider it much of an upset.

Alright, sorry for that delay. Wanted to do some reading and get caught up on the last few days of practice.

I think this is going to be a very interesting game in all honesty. I won't have a play on the side as it is not worth playing the sides in a Michigan game just yet. There are too many unknown variables. I will most likely be making a play on the under in this game provided the number is where I hope it is.

So far, this has been a drastically different camp for this school. Lloyd had the same "set schedule" so to speak for fall camp each year. He rarely talked to media during that and the players also spoke little. Rich Rod has been very open so far after each practice and its great for us cappers because we get a better take on what is going on so far. Practice is sooo much more uptempo. Everything is fast paced. As some defensive guys have said, the amount of sets implememted are amazing. Mind you, this is with only about half the playbook implemeted.

Lets talk quarterbacks. Now, bjorks said there is no oone that fits the system. Thats true and not true. Threet and Sheridan both have some qualities that fit it. True freshman Feagin has many more but he won't be ready to be a FT starter this year. I know many Blue fans would love to see him pull a Henne and start right away but I that is just dreaming in my estimation. I can see him though in a few packages to set a change of pace. Lets also remember, people get to fixated on what sort of QB Rich Rod has to have. Shaun King, Woody Dantzler and Rasheed Marshall all come to mind that have played in his systems as a HC and coordinator. So, I expect some growing pains early with whoever starts. Both have progressed though quickly in camp and look more comfortable in the offense than they did in the spring game.

The big question mark is the offensive line. Long a staple of Big Blue, this could be the weakest one we have had in some time. Rich Rod's offense excels with a great offensive line. Look at the one WVU had last year. Look how they blew OU off the ball. That's what worries me more than a QB or anything else. RR has admitted as much. Basially they have been quite sporadic so far in camp.

The defense is what is going to keep this team in just about any game until 11/22. After he 0-2 start last year this defense quickly emerged to very solid. I think it will be the 2nd best UM defense this decade(other being 2006). I like the make-up of them. They are much faster and I think they will be more agressive.

Now, lets relate this to the game on August 30th:

You have two pretty good offenses. Utah has an excellent QB obviously if he is right. I expect Michigan to come out with a few trick plays and whatnot to open things up. I wouldn't expect any less from RR. Blue will have growing pains but I think have a real shot to win this game. Like I said, no bet for me. If you like Michigan, it could drop more. The LVSC opener was 7 and I think it was like 4.5 offshores last week and is at 3 last time I looked. As I said, I like the under and hopefully can get a sexy number.

Good stuff BAR. Seems like this is the sexy games across the forums to play in Week 1 and I don't really get it myself. Way to many unknowns from the Michigan side of things and only getting 3 points doesn't seem worth investing in Utah for.

Exactly J.

When you could get it at a vegas casino right away at 7, there was value.

I never saw anythng approaching the 7 here locally. Where was that number posted ? mad at myself.

That's the # that LVSC put it out as I believe, but I'd be suprised if any Casino's had it on their actual board. I think 5.5 was the # posted by PStone in a thread, but I could be wrong.

I should of stated that better but I also thought you or pstone said it opened at one of the casino's at 7 and was hammered down within minutes.

must have been pstone. He seems to get the hilton info fast.... but of all places that is the one i would least expect to put up a 7 given all the sharp money they take there.

Might be like WVU @ Syracuse in 05. 15-7 final, WVU was depleted coming into that year, lost 3 big starters off the OL, and the qb battle was betweeen Bednarik and Pat White. Bednarik got the start.

WVU ended up only 1 loss on the year.

Seems like the market has mostly

slipped to Michigan minus 3 1/2, but, in Vegas, the Palms still had 4 as of late Friday afternoon.

Below 4, IMO, it appears all the value has been squeezed for all those Ute backers.

Good luck,
Paul

Michigan season goes 1 of 2 ways.............most years when they are appearing to be ready for a down year, they step up, pull some upsets and finish in Rose contention.

Or, they play like the talent they have and go 5-7....could go either way.

Only way to play this is UNDER or Utes ML....cant bet on RR till we see what they've got.

just gonna use this thread...

notes: Zirbel out a month if not more...torn cartilage, huyge has high ankle sprain...both starters on OL

sheridan is leading the race...

brown and minor dinged up...mcguffie getting most of the carries, and impressing.

no vertical passing game seen in last live scrimmage, all flares and slants

take it fwiw

Is this from Saturdays closed scrimmage?

Yea...GBW has a few reports...

Sheridan gets rid of the ball alot quicker than Threet...so that seems to be the consensus so far.

Pretty much what I have read and Threat has been very good at hitting the defenders in the numbers..lol

Now that it's actually game week I'd just like to add a little go utes: :)

If UNLV can spank the utes 27-0 , surely the wolverines can keep this one close ... had to do it......again.
