One of my earliest memories as a kid. I was watching it at a buddy's house who is a huge AU fan. Before the game he told his dad he was cheering for Miami, and his dad threatened to kick him out of the house for pulling against the state lol.Alabama won the 1992 National Championship with a resounding 34-13 win over then #1 Miami in the Sugar Bowl.
This was the first Nattie for the Tide since 1979.
I wanted to get this up last week with 100 days but shit the bed.Let's back it up to 95 for tbe goat
I remember how monumental this game felt as well. One of my earliest memories as a kid. I was watching it at a buddy's house who is a huge AU fan. Before the game he told his dad he was cheering for Miami, and his dad threatened to kick him out of the house for pulling against the state lol.
The lead up to this game was all about Alabama having no chance to stay on the field with Miami, and it was a complete beatdown. Plus it included the greatest play that didn't count when George Teague ran down Lamar Thomas (who ran his mouth the most before the game) and took the ball away from him.
8-7 lol
Oh, I remember the 8-7 game.Desert Swarm defense....just came to my mind. Those boys were nasty.

Yes.Man I don't remember that year at all. Senior year of HS, was that the season Geno won the Heisman? If so I'm glad I don't remember it.
I can tell you that Michigan didn't lose a game that year.Man I don't remember that year at all. Senior year of HS, was that the season Geno won the Heisman? If so I'm glad I don't remember it.

That's Great!Tom Slade, Michigan QB in 1971.
True story,
My mid- Michigan junior high school in the mid 70's was 7th through 9th grade and had me in an advanced math class taught by a former Ohio State band member. Each year the teacher would say; If Michigan wins, double the homework, If Buckeyes win, no home work. And he would rub it when the Bucs won. And it was always Woody this and Woody that. In 7th grade, Wolvs win and we got the homework, 8th grade Buckeyes won. 9th grade was the famous 10-10 tie. After the season while sitting in math class there came a knock on the door. A gentleman in his early 20's said something like; Excuse me, are you the Ohio State grad who is torturing the Michigan kids? My name is Tom Slade and we beat your Buckeyes when I played. You stop harassing my kids. Slade got a standing ovation from the class and will never forget my teacher's bright red face. LOL
Turned out a classmate was friends of the Slade family.
GREAT MEMORY!!!!

Irish LB Jim Lynch is maybe the best pick ... but since I've met this guy (dad's friend) - and he was an incredibly tough SOB, I give you Texas OL/DL
BUD McFADIN -1948-50

*1st team AA at OL and DL

THIRTY tackles!?54 days - 12 hours - 34 minutes - 46 seconds
Lee Roy Jordan maybe the guy here ..... he made 30 tackles vs OU in '62, but he didn't win the Heisman, star in a movie about himself, become a war hero ......OR be nominated for SAINTHOOD.
Minnesota RB Bruce Smith (1939-41) did. 6-0/200, and could run.

I was leaving that one for you.Forgot to come back for #55 Derrick Thomas. 52 career sacks, (27! in the 1988) 68 TFL. Butkus, SEC Def POTY, and national DPOY. Picked 4th overall in the NFL Draft, recorded a record 7 sacks in a game, though ironically gave up the GW TD on a missed sack. Died too young after a car wreck left him paralyzed (wear your seatbelt) and he suffered a fatal pulmonary embolism after surgery
