An interesting weekend, just seemed to keep splitting my plays all day. Would hit my big play then lose a big play - win a few small plays, lose a few small plays... Ah well... Lets finish tonight off with a few winners.
MONDAY NIGHT THOUGHTS
The first thing I look at with this game is skill position players and gamebreakers. Would you rather have Deuce, Brees, and Bush or Dunn, Vick, and Crumpler? To me I'd much rather have the speed and game management that New Orleans has. Crumpler can't be a big part of the game if Vick can't him the ball, which seems to be a problem year after year. The trading of TJ Duckett, I think has hurt Atlanta in picking up some short yards to extend drives, thus turning TD's into FG's. Both teams will look for field position early in this game and will look to control the clock and keep possession with the running game. No matter how I want to look past the team returning to New Orleans and the effect it will have on the game, I can't. Although I'd hope it wouldn't provide New Orleans' players any extra motivation, you know that guys like Joe Horn want to come out and show the world "they care." Also, I'm going to go off on a conspiracy rant, but isn't it human nature to cheer for the "underdog," the city that is trying to rebuild itself? Now I know NFL officials are "professionals" but a part of me can't help but wonder if their's a questionable call that needs to be made that subconsciously the officials won't lean towards the side of New Orleans? Hehe... I don't know if I believe that, but I'm sure I'll get some responses on that. Should be a close ball game - as the Saints have proven they're not afraid of coming back from a deficit. A concern in this game is that New Orleans has turned the ball over 5 times in two games, compared to I believe once for Atlanta (might be twice). You can't cap turnovers, but when a team shows they have trouble holding onto possession you should take that into account.
