You dope Schotty. I don't mind taking the three but don't run him right out there. Campbell sees that and stops the clock.
What did I missLfgggggggg
Home cooking arrives.
Eh, that's your 1st half TT bet talking.Cowboys kicking the FG late in the first half was pretty dumb.
No, in all honesty it's not even that talking.Eh, that's your 1st half TT bet talking.
I didn't mind taking the 3 but trotting Aubrey out there with 30 seconds left on the play clock was terribly stupid, as Spek and I pointed out at the time. Meathead was not going to call a timeout until he saw that. Give your offense a dummy play and let the run the clock down to 25 seconds trying to draw the Lions offsides, like teams do in this league ALL THE TIME.
The free 3 points they gave the Lions in the last minute were huge in the second half. Instead of tying it up at 27-27 in the 4th they were still trailing. Then the Lions marching it right back down would have made it only a 7 point game instead of 10. As a head coach you have to have that kind of strategy already worked out and part of your DNA. Instead, Schotty is getting on-the-job training.
This has been a frustrating year for Dallas. They made some nice offseason moves resurrecting Javonte for nothing and Pickens for only a third rounder to make the offense a dynamo, but then Jerry lets his ego get in the way with Parsons and they piss away the first half of the season with no D and Lamb hurt. They make a nice (but expensive) acquisition in Williams that shores up the run D a bit but still have no clue on how to play pass D and still don't have any consistent pass rush. The Lions did not have to make a single contested catch all night; it looked like practice out there, their receivers had two yards of cushion at all times. Revel got cooked and Bland got embarrassed by Gibbs on a sideline ankle breaker.
With their remaining schedule the Boys will probably be favored in at least 3, maybe all 4 games. They might even win them all, especially now that there's no pressure. 10-6-1 would be a nice finish but in the NFC this year that doesn't even sniff a playoff spot. More bad timing Jerry.
very well said. I could've completed those Lions slant passes. Not a Dallas DB near the WR. No pass rush for Dallas at all. Now they have 3 DT making over $20m and still aren't even dominant vs run. Dak having great year. With pressure off he'll be even better. But going nowhere vs better teams. And they'll have to tag Pickens at $28m. They're going to be another Cincinnati cap wise. Bland extension looking bad already.Eh, that's your 1st half TT bet talking.

The point is it SHOULD have been later in the half. According to the play by play Dallas has 2 and 25 at their 42 with 1:19 left. They threw a 10 yard pass to Lamb that took 6 seconds, timeout Detroit at 1:13. Then the 11 yard pass to Ferguson, say it took 7 seconds, so at 1:06 it's 4th and 4 with a running clock. Campbell DID NOT call timeout right away, he let the clock run. I would assume because he thought Dallas would go for it and convert, so any time ticking off helps keep them out of the endzone. But instead of having a dummy play call teed up where Dak lines everyone up then tries to draw an offside while running the game clock down to 26 seconds, Schotty signals the Cowboys have given up and sends out the FG unit immediately. Only at that point does Campbell call the timeout with 55 seconds left. So Schotty hands over an extra 29 seconds late in the half to Campbell. Spek and I were bitching about it in this thread as it happened! No, in all honesty it's not even that talking.
Part of good defense now is playing keepaway.
So... They kick the FG to cut the lead to 8 and will receive the ball in the 3rd. That's fine if it's later in the half..
The problem in today's NFL, it's way too easy to score in limited time. Sure enough, Detroit made a FG of their own. I'm fact, they almost had a TD (overthrow).
4th n 3, you go for it. Maybe you then grab a TD, maybe not. But, you keep the opposing offense off the field.
Spotrac has a cool Manage Roster feature you can use on any current or future cap year. For 2026 I only had to convert Dak and CeeDee's base salaries, give Williams 3 YR extension, cut Clark and at that point Pickens could be franchised and $27M in cap space was created. Keep Clark and you're still $6 million under the cap. I'm not going to buy any cap excuses from Jerry this offseason. There is room to make moves this season. They have two first rounders to shore up the defense. There biggest issue is fielding a competent defensive coordinator/coaching staff.very well said. I could've completed those Lions slant passes. You know it 100x better than me. But the lack of defensive adjustments last night was mind blowing. None. All I can think of is coaches don't think they have enough talent.
