2025 Recruiting Thread

Ty Haywood is not going to sign until February now, and Alabama is not going to wait for him. It sounds like he and his family are exploring the NIL waters now that they hired an agent, and we aren't going to get into a drawn out bidding war situation. De Boer wants to be done with prep recruiting this week so he can focus on the portal. They also feel their offer NIL-wise is fair, and it certainly sets a bad precedent if you allow yourself to be negotiated out of an accepted offer. It sucks because I think he can develop into a really good player, but this is the way of the recruiting landscape now. I think Michigan is the likely favoroite
Yeah, it's Michigan.

He's going to February now so he can visit and make sure he wants to come here.

It sucks, but our OL class is really good so it stings less. And I'd much rather him go to the B1G than another SEC school

Big flip here.

Supposedly was going to flip to Auburn.

Nike money came in above I guess.

The AU folks certainly expected him in their class up until the end. But he already had a high quality commitment video to Oregon ready to go, so it's probably been in the works for a while.

True that

Flips don’t mean anything any more, other than being out bid.
I don’t think the casual fan really understands what it’s gonna be like living next door to TAMU/UT. Its gonna have to be salary capped at some point.

It was more fair when it was under the table and illegal as crazy as that sounds.

It most certainly has to if it's going to continue. I think once revenue sharing passes, the players will be able to unionize and collectively bargain with the schools/conferences

That’s where we are. And I’m sure y’all have heard the universal moans from across the country by coaches.

Hey, you all held onto DJ Pickett.

Huge win there.

Seemed to be the opinion he was flipping somewhere.

It’s so crazy now, the dynamic that now is college football. If you have a freshman that has a good year, ie. Van Buren at Miss St, you’re either losing him, or having to give him a ton of $ to stick around.
