2025 MLB In-Game Thread

Hats off to those of you who made it to 2A central today.

MLB limits several things - throws to first, the amount of time you have to throw a pitch, etc. There should be a limit to the # of intentional walks you can take in a game (let's say two).

Dlutes the product when the best player in the history of the sport is not allowed to perform.

Yep, I posted the Rachel Nichols tweet about limiting intentional walks.

That's a necessary move now methinks.

Hey, that will add more strategy to the game. Baseball purists should love that element.

I don't mind it, it limits the amount of time that it takes to throw 4 unintentional intentional balls just in hopes for that insanely rare wild pitch which doesn't even matter when no one is on base. I get the gist of the argument but it won't do anything except prolong the inevitable. If you want to get a little crazy I guess you could penalize walks by offering the farthest unoccupied base from home, no way they'd just give up 3rd base with less than two outs.

I mean, it's simple.

No player can be walked intentionally more than either 1x or 2x in the game.

Simple enough.

Or give a team 3x intentionally walks for an entire game.

How do you prove intent? I mean it would just go back to how it was before they just said go to first which only started a few years ago. Instead of standing up, the catcher will just call everything a foot outside. And it will ultimately take another minute or so.

intentional walk is double. now that we have pitch tracking, if you don't throw a pitch within a certain number of inches of the strike zone for the entire at bat, then that counts as an intentional walk.

could be interesting.
