Funny that Alabama has the 6th best odds to win the title, but every "too early" ranking has them in the 20s. Could be that the name still carries enough weight to draw considerable action on I guess

This group of freshmen QBs might be the best I've ever seen on tape. 1 maybe 2 make an impact this year that can affect the trajectory of a future. Expecting Sayin to start at OSU but Tavien St. Clair is definitely college ready as is Keelon Russell but no idea about Bama's depth chart. I'm sure GPS will know. Bryce Underwood will start day 1 imo at Michigan. All 3 could possibly be top 3 picks in the NFL draft one day imo. All tall, fast, and incredible accuracy on deep throws. Can hit every throw.

I don't think the expectation is for Russell to start, but I would not be surprised if he is the starter by midseason. He's already on campus, so depending on how quickly he picks up the offense he could be a real contender for QB1 in fall camp. Nobody is really sure what we have in Ty Simpson and Austin Mack. Obviously they have time in the offense already, but there's a concern that neither of them could unseat Milroe last year even after we had to condense the playbook and he still was a huge liability in the second half of the season (outside LSU). I'm hopeful that there's an alternative reason other than they weren't good enough, but the QB reps in spring practice will be easily the most closely watched for Alabama. There's no team captain/returning starter to displace, and Keelon is their guy, so again, he may not be ready for FSU in week 1, but he may prove to be too good to keep off the field by November

After a couple of years of pretty disappointing QB play across college, it does appear that this class may reverse that trend

Ty Simpson. Didn't he start before Milroe? Feels like he's been there forever.

He's never started a game, but yes, this is his 4th year at Alabama. He played the second half in that debacle at South Florida when we started Tyler Buchner, and ended up looking ok, but not great.

Indiana lost a lot on offense but their defense will be stout. I won't make any predictions yet but they hauled in some good portal guys. My early guess is they go 10-2.
I'm already penciling in UO and PSU as loses. Illinois, Iowa and Wisconsin will be coin flips, imho.

Okay fine, but Wisconsin and Illinois have to play at IU. Last time IU played Illinois and at Oregon they got the W. Wisconsin has a lot to be desired. IU will be favored in probably 8 games. Cignetti knows what he's doing. Doubt IU all you want, they will be stiff competition.

Indiana won't be getting the benefit of the doubt again with their non con - old dominion, Kennesaw, and Indiana St. Woof.
How does Nebraska feel about IU? OSU nearly lost while IU blasted the Huskers. Kinda weird to think OSU almost didn't make the playoffs.

Was the one game where our D just got their asses kicked. D coordinator at the time said he called a bad game and didn't adjust well. Offense had the ball in IU territory quite a bit and didn't score, so the score was a little misleading, but overall they just beat our ass.

I'm not saying they will be a three win team. They also will have a bullseye on their back and won't be taken lightly.

We'll bump this at the end of next December and see who was right. 👍

Devon Dampier will add another element at utah and should allow for them to have a chance to contend in a wide open B12
I'm so excited to turn the page from the QB situation the last two years.
Can he pass from the pocket in a big boy league? Seems really small.
We shall see but he's the same height as Dillon Gabriel. I'm in no way suggesting that he will have that kind of success but he's an athletic freak who will be playing behind a veteran OL. We'll see what Beck can get out of him at the next level.

I

I would have give anything to have Bama's situation. We had a dude that couldn't stay healthy and a deer in headlights Frosh backing him up.
Milroe had plenty of deer in the headlight moments as a 4th year player, but at least he stayed healthy

I pretty much figured Wilson at Utah was some kind of inside job by BYU

Popped in my feed

Yeah, mine too. That particular play isn't all that bad if you watch a different angle. He got flushed out of the pocket, which was a yard in the EZ, so he had to get out quick and make a tough throw with a defender in his face. Could he have made it? Probably. There are far worse throws in that game to use if someone wanted to pick on Milroe trust me

It sure makes you wonder. By all accounts from the spring, he was better than Brandon Rose but the first half of the BYU game was all I had to see to say that Rose was the better QB...... until he got hurt too. Ugh

Do you have any additional Futures thoughts?

Let's chat!

I'll be looking for value throughout the season, but I have some preseason ones that I placed in the off-season...

Oklahoma @ 60-1
UNLV @ 200-1
Clemson @ 12-1

UNLV? That’s a surprise.
Simply grabbed a number months ago.

The thought process with a playoff is to find a handful of value bets all year until the postseason. I'd love to have 6+ teams every year in the playoffs so I can position for profit.

I think we had 6-7 teams last year??!!

That included Boise at a ridiculous number much like this.

And yes, this is a donation but for 10 bucks, I didn't hate it back when I placed it.

My MAC win total I played was Central Michigan over 5.5 WINS +118.
Their new coach comes from Army where he helped the Cadets win the Joe Moore Award for best O line. I expect very strong line play on both sides of the ball in conference. They are going to run a power spread with some triple option mixed in which should be tough to prep for.

They should be favored in at least six games: Wagner, EMU, @ Akron, @ BG, U Mass, and @ Kent. Theres four gimmes among that six. At Western I think should be about a pickem. They don't play Ohio or Miami and their two toughest games on paper are at home vs. Buffalo and Toledo. If Toledo is really the standout in the MAC as the preseason predictions say they are they may be sitting their starters for CMU in the final week.

Im going to wait and see how the depth looks after opening at San Jose, Pitt and Michigan and maybe take a flyer on them to win the MAC. You can get 20 to one @ DK right now.

Good luck to us if you play it.

Toledo has G5 playoff representation aspirations, there’s no sitting your starters at any point this season.

Nice stuff MAC King.

I dont think they beat Kentucky in week one so there will be no playoff talk. You might want to read up on Jason Candle before you start speculating about an undefeated regular season for the Dildoes.

Hey mate. I wasn’t speculating on that,

And I’m aware of him losing 15x outright as a favorite.

He won’t rest his starters in the finale and assuming otherwise is foolish. You telling me a 1-loss Toledo isn’t vying for a playoff spot?
