2024-2025 Portal Thread (Free Agency Thread)

Wayshawn Parker to Utah. Huge get for them. He and Dampier will make a damn good duo in the backfield. They also picked up a Tulsa WR who was AAC freshman of the year only playing in 7 games.

Hopefully Whittingham can't fuck this one up.

LSU has done well. Underwood flip left some money. See how it goes, but given the circumstances I think better than one could ask.

Michigan State wide receiver transfer Aziah Johnson, who North Carolina first recruited out of high school, will end up in Chapel Hill after all. He signed with the Tar Heels on Friday, per sources.

Johnson, a 6-foot, 175-pounder, has three years of eligibility available. As a red-shirt freshman this past season, he caught 16 passes for 276 yards and a pair of touchdowns for Michigan State.

Washington's Khmori House, the nation's No. 2-ranked linebacker in the Transfer Portal by 247Sports, has committed to North Carolina, sources confirmed on Saturday.

House was in Chapel Hill on Friday and Saturday for his first official visit.

The 6-foot, 213-pound freshman totaled 35 tackles, four pass breakups, an interception and a forced fumble at Washington in his first season of college ball. House played 317 defensive snaps across 12 games, according to PFF.

Alford grabbed the #1 RB in the portal for the 2nd year running.

Judkins last year for SOFT

Haynes this year for UM

Thoughts on the 2023 5 star RB @gps_3 ? I've read a lot -- seems like he didn't mesh with new staff as well?

He was looking for a running scheme looking at his finalists.

I'm not sure what went wrong for Haynes at Alabama. We all had high hopes after what we saw of him last season, but he just wasn't very effective for us this year. I think it's probably a little bit of several things. He was dinged up a fair amount too. The blocking scheme with the OL may not have been best suited for his run style after the coaching change. He didn't seem to be a bad locker room guy or unhappy, but yeah I think we just weren't the best fit. With Jam Miller coming back and what we have behind him, I guess he just thought a fresh start with a clearer path to carries would be beneficial. I don't think there are any hard feelings on either side. Good kid from a good family, and I'm glad he's not going to a team on our schedule. I think he has a chance to be really good. Runs a lot like Mark Ingram

It's already the wild wild west but I feel that there should be monetary and possibly scholarship penalties if a team or some scumbag for said team contacts players that aren't in the transfer portal.

I think this is a good move honestly. Ewers and Milroe probably also should play another year in college, but I doubt either would be welcome back at their current school

I could see Beck ending up at a desperate Miami but if they couldn't win with Cam they certainly are no threat with this stiff.

The do not contact tag generally means they already know where they are going. Usually it's an admission of tampering, but in Beck's case, I'm sure he (or his agent) has been doing their due diligence and has been looking for a landing spot. It has to be Miami, given they are desperate for a QB and he dates one the twins on the women's bball team. My guess is he will do much better there with less pressure and an easier schedule, but I still don't think he's an NFL QB

Is it true they are getting rid of the long portal in the fall and the spring and just making it 10 days in January? Man that would be amazing. It ruins pre-season capping and the bowl games. That and this horrible playoffs have really put a dent into college football. Used to be the best watch and sport in the world. Definitely been wounded last few years and this playoff didn’t help.

Different sport but we need to push to get the NFL down to 8 teams.

Last week was brutal except for one game which was sloppy as can be.

Too many NFL teams in the playoffs.

I'm in favor of the NFL only having 8 teams though I don't think that was where you were going.

Selective narratives is fun.

I will say, the fact that gamblers are whining about more games to make money on is wild.

Thousands are. I just don't get it.

12 was fine with 2 byes. Go with 12 and have them seeded by record. Tie break to division winners if they have the same record. This isn’t hard. League just starting to whiff a lot. Which was fine when we had legitimate college football through the end of the year. Bowl season been atrocious for a few years now and for me the inability to know a roster inside out come spring pisses me off.

I'll say, I think bowls have been getting brutal for years.

This year was much better, in comparison to the last 4-5 years.

Curious where you guys think the playoffs number stops at? As far as how many make it? Won't end at 12. Does it make it to 24 (I believe thats what the FCS has)

It would still be much more entertaining if it went back to two. It's already run its course by this one season when 4 was already too many

The problem with this scenario is that we're never getting bowls back to how they were.

BCS and 2 teams was fine when the other bowls still had full participation.

That's the difference.

It really just needs to be a full on minor league program and dissociate with the NCAA and colleges altogether, and obviously I'd hope no one thinks I'm so stupid to think I don't understand how money works here but these games should have no association with the NCAA or any academic institution at this point.

FCS is actually kinda fun after watching more than less last year. These money games are really for those who need to pat themselves on the back for being high money athletic programs. Which is basically how the NFL works.

The Oregon/Ohio State regular season game was so worthless this year and if you disagree you either hate the sport or just need more football for your own gratification. Been true for years with conference championship games but now these need for rematches have made it so much worse. This was basically what made the sport different from the NFL....now we need 24 teams according to that post above? LMFAO. No one is watching it....I love gambling, I pretty much hate the gambling lobbyists that live on this. It f'n blows.

And it's simply not interesting in general. Cool. We have an 8.5 point favorite in this refuckingtardly decided championship game in which I might watch if it's close in the 4th quarter but not like I'm close to a fan of either team.

1. Oregon
2. Everyone Else

What a tournament!

Michigan Mongoose v Austin Javelina in a championship game would like generate some interest I think just because it sounds cool
