2022 World Cup Discussion

From US perspective, 2/3 of their top Centerbacks are out with injuries

Not a great recipe for a team to have success

No Pepi is the big one

People are complaining about no Steffen but honestly he gives up quite a few cheap goals

He was at least a top 3 GK , but he was never going be the starter , and the rumor floating around was that he wasn’t going like that and could have been a locker room problem

There's a ton of pressure on Berhalter to perform, obviously this will be the most talented team the US has entered and with that comes the egos. I can see where chemistry is more important than talent. Guessing if the US doesn't make it out of the group he's gone anyway so hard not to take a different path and hope it works. We know the US isn't going to score a lot, will come down to defense and GK keeping us in against England at least. Wales match should be a snoozer, Iran...no clue how many of their best players will be in prison in a week lol

can't wait let's win some money
I was pretty inebriated when I spent a couple hours one night trying to get out in front of it but actually posted the plays I made. Hard to really bet MD2 at this point without seeing the first group rounds

yeah and who knows how many uncommitted challenges with eyes on Qatar get people hurt this weekend

Mane out impairs Senegal pretty significantly

gotta think he and Son try to play if at all possible, but i haven't seen the official rosters

Barring a torn ligament he'll play, not sure how effective

Portugal and France took the worst of the injury bug but the French 3rd team could probably make it to the quarters

This is exciting but mid season really sucks for some of these guys

anyone got a strong lean toward Switzerland? It's hard to trust Serbia, but I think i like them better and most odds have them finishing 3rd

Like Canada a lot as a sleeper team

They deserved to win Concacaf , tactically superior in all their matches against Us/Mexico, US particularly really struggled to break them down and create

Reminds me of Costa Rica 2014, and they’ve got some real threats in the attack

Not really a PoT4 team, at least not how they are plying currently

A lot of time between now and November, coaching changes will happen , injuries , etc
i also really liked their manager and Jonathan David has been on fiyah in Ligue 1

Davies terrifying and so is Buchanan, so much pace on the wings makes the sit-in defense really fit

I saw a blurb on ESPN about the team

Any real shockers?
Steffen, did he get hurt and i missed it? He has makes big problems, but not even having the 1st choice keeper on the roster makes me think something went wrong and who trusts Berhalter at all

Pepi couldn't even get minutes at broke ass Augsburg and they paid $20 mill for him

yeah when Courtois is denying locker room problems there probably are some...

Martinez gonna jump ship asap and this team was old at the euros

Verts and Hazard were going in on KDB, been tension from what I understand and Lukaku had to break it up, saw it was physical

Of course they had a team bbq that night

How we like the USA chances Saturday?
i'm not a believer, but NED aren't the best

Deserved underdog, think it's going to be tough to score goals throughout this tournament. Not sure how we get one, but NED tend to be overaggressive so maybe that helps us find a counter attack goal or some unbalanced situation where we can use our pace and take one of our few chances

Yep. Definitely could’ve been a worse draw than NED
