2014 Tennis Season

buying off of some of my Hewitt play. Line coming down for some reason and it's making me nervous.

Not too surprised on Murray, was going to fade him early. More surprised on Ferrer. He had started real strong his first 3 matches and then loses.

Plays for today

WTA
Barbora ZahlavovaStrycova -150

ATP
Benoit Paire -118
Fogini/PospisilParlay +118
Nadal/Gulbis Over21.5 (-125)

Excellent play on Paire. I swear that guy has fucked me a dozen times as huge favorite so I don't trust that fuck as far as I can throw him. Also nice squeaker on that nadal over. I think they might have even moved it to 22 or 22.5 games at my book so would have been brutal if I was on board. I've always thought do these asian countries root for Vania King because she looks asian even though she's from the US. Also, one quick observation is that Monfils looks excellent to start the season. I've watched highlights of him vs gasquet and he was very sharp movement and ground strokes and he absolutely slammed the shit out of daniel brands today which isnt as impressive but on these quick courts for Monfils to break the hell out of him is pretty darn decent.

I had Hewitt, F Mayer, and over in that dustin brown match which were all winners but Florian had to make a real fuckin mess of that second set. stressing me out for no reason.

It was kinda crazy in that Hewitt match too because it was like middle of the night in Chicago when it started and I woke up to check the score and it was 5-3 F lopez. I had pretty big money on it and was like holy shit im so fucked lopez is massive server. lo and behold Hewitt rattles off 4 straight games to take the set. match was over at that point.

I'm interested in the cilic/nishikori match. Wonder how it will play out. I watched Copil vs Simon yesterday and I'll tell you what, Copil was serving bombs that Gilles couldn't touch and the frenchman is actually decent at return. I doubt he will have the same success against home fav and former number one hewitt though.

Yea Monfilis sure has opened up great.

Also, Fogini has a leg/foot injury. He pulled out of the doubles and was actually winning today 1-0 and tied 5-5 in the 2nd set and he quit. Hopefully he tries to go in the Aussie and we can fade him.

Tennis season!!

Good luck GLB lets have continued success this year!

Haha -- you guys already bitching about the french queers (Paire and Chardy). These two are some of the most inconsistent players on the tour...

Can't wait to get back on the tennis grind...I'll probably be pretty quiet early on as I work with NCAA hoops till the end of February.

I've honestly watched numerous matches where Paire walks around court with a total "I don't give a fuck about anything" attitude. If things don't come easy for him, it is not worth it to work hard to make a couple extra thousand getting to the second round.

Tennis is such a rough sport to bet on even though it might be my favorite. You really feel like literally anyone can beat anyone if one player has an off day. You could argue that is a good thing however if you can pick big underdogs. +300 and above cash constantly in tennis whereas how often do you see that in NBA, NHL, MLB, etc.

GLB, I fall into the trap year after year with betting those large favorites way too often. The reward is simply not worth the risk. I don't claim to be a know it all and I still make the mistake but those plays are just pretty unsharp so to speak or cop out plays where you don't have to think hard but when they lose you can go bankrupt really quick. My cousin who I used as an agent for a local bookie told me I should try to live by the rule of never laying more than -200. He saw time after time me betting those large favorites only for them to go down and I would have to pay the man. You made the right play on the over in that match. If you have massive money on nadal -410 you would have been stressing when he was down 0-3 in second set. Even though he won it is not worth it..

Here we go

ATP
Marinko Matosevic+600
Groth/Chardy Over 23(-125)
Gael Monfilis -3.5Games (-120)
Vasek Pospisil -3.5Games (-112)
Dudi Sela +125

Doha, Qatar FINALS

Monfilis +200 vs. Nadal -240. Not enough value here in Monfilis. Getting -240 for Nadal vs anyone outside the Top 4 is AMAZING value. BUT I think Monfilis wins this. They've played in this tourney 2 times and Monfilis has won both times. Should be a great match

Chennai, India Semi-Finals

Wawrinka -340 vs. Pospisil +280. Another great matchup. This could be the first step this year for Pospisil to have a breakout year. Going to Play Pospisil +4 (-125)

Granollers +110 vs. Roger-Vasselin -130. Very tight match. Both coming off 3 setters. Granollers with a nice win over Paire so I will roll with him and the + money. Granollers +110

Missed betting the Brisbane Semis. Great win for Lleyton over Nishikori.

WTA Brisbane, Australia FINALS

Serena -500 vs. Azarenka +400. The best two female tennis players on the planet. Have been some tough matches the past couple. Going to roll with Over 19.5 Games.

Damn can't believe it's almost time for the Aussie again. Bol this year gator....here's to you having a miamicapper esque season lol

By the time the Aussie Open starts, Federer will be 32 years & 5 months old.

Since 1973, only 1 man has won a Slam at an older age: Andre Agassi at the 2003 Aussie Open, at 32 years & 8 months of age. Key to his winning was his only having to face 3 seeded players - 12, 29 & 31. Only 1 of the other top 30 seeds made the semi-finals, that player being on the other side of the draw (Roddick, ranked 9th).

Historic stats strongly suggest it's gonna take a favourable draw and early fall of seeds for Roger to have any chance of ever winning another Slam.

BC,
also want to add how different the styles of play was back there, just looking at the top 10 rankings end of 2002

1. Hewitt
2. Agassi
3. Safin
4. JCF
5. Moya
6. Fed
7. Novak
8. Henman
9. Albert Costa
10. Roddick

Definitely not as competitive as the top 10 this time around.

Fed might be very good fade material

or else I will end up in the political forum where they talk about pedophiles :-/

Man I'm excited for her, she is legit. Pretty face off the court but man come game time she's business.
Future of Canadian tennis is looking good, just hope Milos and Eugenie or even Pospisil win some tourney's to get the attention.
Canadian audience is easily influenced since outside of hockey, Canadian athletes that do well get a ton of coverage…e.g. GSP.
I also think having world class tourney like the Rogers Cup helps, it's not "expensive" to play Tennis, lots of indoor courts to play in winter too.

Istomin/Andujar GameTotal Over 20.5 (-125) 9:30 PM

BC, Fed probably still has a better shot of winning a grand slam than Tiger.. lol jk

Tmike, she's a real cutie and she's got plenty of money at an early age.. :shake:
I'd like to bang sharapova as long as she doesnt talk. I bet she's a real bitch.

Lastly, you bring up a good point about canadian sports perspective. I've visited canada on a few occasions and their sports channels highlight canadian born players more than highlights of the actual game. it's interesting but i like the patriotism.

I played if bet:
1) Istomin set 1 moneyline
2) ebden (I bet Matosevic vs benny first match and won and also bet Ebden vs Kuznetsov in last week match which won so I'm doubling down on both)

By the way I'm happy as hell because I got the day off work tomorrow due to ridiculous weather in Chicago. I'm just gonna sip coffee and bet soccer all day.

Sorry guys just been super busy at work. Had 3 weeks off for christmas. Probably going to work from home next week so I can stay up late to watch the tennis.
