Rules:

1. We are going to switch it up a little bit this time. Instead of listing your golfers in order...we are going to pick 5 golfers. You need 4 of them to make the cut to be eligible for the weekend. We will take the 4 golfers with the lowest score after 36 holes(if all 5 make the cut) for each entry.

2. The member with the lowest combined score of their 4 golfers after conclusion of the tournament will be our winner.

3. All picks must be submitted by 1:00 am Eastern time Thursday, July 17th.

4. Tiebreakers. We will implement a few more than usual due to this being a one-tourney payout.

5. All golfers in the field are eligible.

6. No aliases etc as you all should know by now.

7. Edits are allowed up until 1:00 am Eastern on Thursday. After, only edits by myself for purpose of scoring the contest will be permitted.

Here is the format.

1.
2.
3.
4.
5.

Tiebreaker 1: Final winning score in relationship to par for the Open Champion(i.e. -8)
Tiebreaker 2: Lowest single round of the 2014 Open Championship(i.e. 65)

Here is a link for the field for the championship

Good luck. Any questions PM me or ask in this thread.

50.00 bucks to winner via paypal or monyeorder.

I know a few have asked for that change at times. The biggest thing for me is it eases up the grading of things at the halfway point. We'll see how it goes and how everyone likes it. Sorry for the last post. We have about 45 hours left for entries. It should be a terrific tourney, the course looks great. BOL to everyone.

10-year-old bet big for Gerry McIlroy

HOYLAKE, England -- According to the BBC's Andrew Cotter, 10 years ago Rory McIlroy's father Gerry and three friends made a legal bet of 400 British pounds (100 each, equivalent to $170.87 currently) that the then-15-year-old would win the Open Championship by the age of 26.

On Sunday, the Northern Irishman will be 25 years, 2 months and 16 days, meaning his father and friends would collect 200,000 pounds (roughly $341,730). Though the bet actually stipulated that the younger McIlroy would win by the time he was 25, Cotter confirmed that even though McIlroy's birthday has passed, the wager still counts as he has not yet turned 26.

So just to confirm - 10 yrs ago Gerry McIlroy & three friends put £400 at 500-1 on 15 year-old Rory to win The Open before he turned 26.

- Andrew Cotter (@MrAndrewCotter) July 19, 2014
McIlroy won his first major, the U.S. Open, at age 22 and followed that up with his second major at the PGA Championship the following year. He went winless in majors in 2013, but is poised to take the third leg of the grand slam on Sunday with a 6-stroke lead over Rickie Fowler at Royal Liverpool.

It's just another reason for the father and former barman to be very proud and thankful for his son's golfing talent.

I have updated through the 2nd round.

Only two entries missed the cut.

Lots of Rory entries. We'll see how the others do on Sunday. BOL.

Alright, a record grading for me upon completion of a tournament hehe.

In the most unlikely of events, STEED is our winner. He had four of the top five. I just asked him via text how he picked so well. Apparently it was quite the process of 'capping'.

Anyways, final leaderboard of the top finishers.

STEED -59
SIGO -54
oakas -54
Larry -54
takeit -49

Was this the British Open or the Buick Open?

Nice job Steed.

Yeah, no doubt. Ideal conditions(for that area) and a scoreable course. Also, unlike the other majors you get the full four par 5's out there.

I'll have a PGA pool up either next 30 minutes or late night or tomorrow morning. Sorry for delay.

(yes, covering all bases before some smartass says I am 'running errands')
