I like 5, won't stand in way of any opposing majority opinion though. I think "streaming" and the HTH format go hand-in-hand. 5's fine for 7 days of baseball.

What do you guys think of the mere 9 IP minimum per week? I used that loophole to win a few weeks last season, shut things down after a starter's gem and just hoped the closers didn't shit the bed ... wouldn't mind upping that a notch, even like just a few innings more.

I don't like unlimited moves or tons of allowed moves per week, but here's my case for 5 moves in the HTH format.

First of all, it's not that many moves. The format invites the daily chess match. I like the other way too, season-long roto style where you set your line-up on Monday morning and let your guys play, but that's a totally different game.

Secondly, there's as much risk as reward. You're chasing wins and strikeouts (or maybe less frequently offensive stats), but you're risking your ERA & WHIP in the hands of a pitcher 11 other guys didn't want anyway. Everyone is absolutely allowed to structure his team any way he chooses. If you can't bring yourself to cut one of your players, you either have no balls or you're going to win the league going away because your team's too good.

You are gonna give scourge a coronary

just saw this and started to seethe. ha

Nothing should change in this league. Streaming is not that big of a factor. It's more about getting new players and cycling out garbage. I don't understand why I'm the only person who enjoys getting rid of bad players and picking up new spots.

yes, yes. Couldn't have said it better myself.

Restricting managers does not make a better league. It does not make for better competition if you limit everyone else to less moves per week.

Sure it does

It punishes people who draft well and have competent starting pitching

You shouldnt be able to pick up scrubs all week and win 2 of the categories bc of them

5 moves doesn't impact it that way, Smoke. 7-to-10 or more probably would, but take it from one of the guys who picked up a lot of pitchers last season (think I was 2nd or 3rd most moves), I still lost a lot of wins and K's weeks to the guys who invested more heavily in pitching or simply carried more pitchers on their rosters.

Again, I think "streaming" at a pace of less than a pick-up per day goes hand-in-hand with the format. Season-long roto style there would obviously be a beef with daily moves as the active guys would simply be adding K's and wins to a six-month pile (although probably doing serious damage to ERA and WHIP). But head-to-head's more fun and strategic with the ability to adjust during your one-week battles. If you think 5 allowable pick-ups punishes people who concentrate on pitching on draft night (I don't agree), then don't concentrate on pitching on draft night, problem solved.

In my experience, those are pretty broad, it's tough to settle on season-long maxes and mins. In roto, I prefer Sunday night/Monday morning auction-style bids, set your line-up, no daily moves at all. But that's off the subject.

I just think 5 or so allowable weekly moves and the head-to-head format go together like peanut butter and jelly.

groan. cmon man you know that never happens. how are 5 "scrubs" going to swing a 7 day week every week of the season. It will back fire and it doesn't work like that. How are you guaranteed to even win 2 categories with people you pick up. It's still a gamble, there are no guarantees.

I only requested it because I pick up position players. People can stream pitchers if they want but that's not going to work every week of the season.

Draft is two weeks from tonight, looking forward to it. Gentle reminder to pay $100 entry fee on leaguesafe by draft night, just takes a minute.

Randomly generated draft order, hot off the presses ...

Did it last year in this same league, wreck. Most (all?) like to know their draft spot a little sooner than 30 minutes prior. I know I do.

I think last year I also asked, because wreck griped then too ... who could possibly give a fuck about when the draft order is randomly generated??

LoLol you guys are just fucking with us right??

Or do neither of you remember this exact sequence happening last year???

lol, remember it well.

As I remember, anyone besides wreck with an opinion on the matter preferred knowing early, but if that's not the case in this league let me know ... for next year.

how do i "randomly" end up 8th 2 years in a row?

I don't have a problem with knowing early. Look at the CTG2 thread. I think it's fine. I just find it hard to believe I would get the 8 spot 2 years in a row, 'randomly'.

teed, you had 7 last year.

Last year's order was ...

1. Monday's Rule (Josh, who did not return)
2. Law
3. Grind
4. tipyerbartender
5. Jump
6. Tide
7. teed
8. wreck
9. Compton Ballers
10. aplous
11. Smoke
12. Coverlicious

So four guys have the same slot as last year, eight have different slots. I guess yahoo's random draft order generator tool didn't shuffle the deck very well, or wreck's theory, I successfully hacked into yahoo and figured out how to customize the draft order so I could again have the all-important 4th pick while still brilliantly making everything appear to be on the up and up, because I was able to figure out how to make the site call the draft order randomly generated. Even though I customized it, of course.

Is this really a big deal? I don't really care where I draft in a snake draft, I just like to know my spot in the days leading up to it. wreck, if it'll stop you from whining, I'll swap with you. Who cares, it's a snake draft.

Annually becoming the most scrutinized draft order determination this side of the NBA lottery.

Draft is just a few days away now, friendly reminder to please pay $100 entry fee to leaguesafe by then. Think as of now, we're only 4 of 12 paid. Thanks!

I get Smoke to start off the year. Always known in the tipyerbartender clubhouse as "Smokeweek".

Jump, did you sneak back in live for a minute on the Homer Bailey pick?

seriously though...can we talk about how stacked my team is?

what were you guys doing last night?

you let me run amok all over you
