Will Clemens' return matter?

No it won't. Yanks are hurting in every area of the game not just starting pitching. Yanks got 2 hits and 0runs off Marcum. They don't hit when they get good pitching and they don't pitch good when they score a million runs. They have too many big names and are not a "team". Cashman will be the first one to hit the road and to my delight

I agree, if they don't turn around he will be on his *ss faster than he'll know what hit him.

yankees pitching is just absolutely disgusting this year. bringing gramps out of retirement who can still kick triple A ass shouldn't be the light at the end of the tunnel for the yanks in my eyes

It will help bettors fading the Yanks, since he's such a name pitcher he'll inflate their price to levels it simply shouldnt be, thou it wouldnt suprise me if he won early on to give the faithful hope which is then pulled out from under them as time rolls on.

Not seeing this as a GM problem. The older players on this yankee team like Giambi took different varieties of drugs to maintain their productivity. No drugs any more. Just ineffectual old men playing a young mans game. Just bet against them and bet their games under. 11 total Wendesday :smiley_acbe:

I disagree 1000%

The reason the Yanks suck is not because Giambi isn't shooting Deca or Test in his ass anymore.

The GM built this team, he asked for full control and he got it, now you have to own up and take your share of the burden, which means taking your ass out of NY. Have you seen Cashman? He looks like he hasnt slept in 20yrs.

The Yankees instead of getting younger continue to go out and spend money on bullshit. Whose idea was it to pay $45million for Igawa, The AAA pitcher that he is? Who signed Carl fuken Pavano? Who brought in an aging Damon, Pettite, and now Roger Clemens? Who dropped the ball on getting Beltran 3yrs back but instead brought in Randy Johnson, a few yrs past his prime? It was not Joe Torre or anyone else in the dugout, it was Brian Cashman. Now its time to own up and hit the road buddy.

Igawa=amazing joke I agree. Pavano was just a unlucky disaster. No one had any idea he was a major stiff. Petitte, why is that bad. Bottom line George really runs the show and he and his friends love old men. Thats the cause and the effect is that real money is available betting vs the Yankees. But George would never have tolerated the kind of action GM that might have saved them. When have to Yankees Ever had a rebuilding year. Always see a old star in his declining years to hire so why blame Cashman who never ever had a chance.

I dont think kicking Brian to the curb will do much...This team has no life..no spark....As much as I love Joe...Him and Cashman must go....It's fuckin embarassing that this lineup is putting up 2 and 3 run performances...Dont get me wrong....5 or 6 years ago Joe couldnt push a wrong button...but now it seems like every button he pushes is wrong...you can blame cashman for that with our weak bench and weak bullpen but once again i dont think firing him alone is enough to salvage this season...Something drastic needs to be done...and fast...

There is Nothing that can be done. Rogers put them well over the cap even the Yankees are out of cash. Their older vets have little trade value. Do not actually see the pen as a real problem. They have no drug powered hitting any more. They have to play tight low scoring games. Was not joking above about more or less automatic under bets. Have been betting them under and have already bet the wendesday game under 11 minus 20 cents. And the next game and the next game and the next game.

Nothing is going to salvage the season. I as a Yankee fan have already accepted not making the playoffs this yr. It would be a friggen miracle for a team who has started 12 different pitchers before June? I think getting rid of Cashman is a start. He built this mess and keeps adding to it. Clemens is the furthest thing from the answer and in my heart I believe he signed on w/ the Yankees for his ego. If he could save the Yankees and turn around their season it would make him sleep with a smile at night. The guy is going to do more harm than good since he won't be going more than 6innings, more likely 5ip and stretching the bullpen even more. The Yankees need to cut their losses with a lot of these players and get young and fresh, it might take 2-3yrs to turn around but then you will be looking at another Dynasty run.

Season cant be salvaged? can you say 1978? and even if the dirty sox do hold on were only 8 1/2 out of the wild card with 4 months to play...the night is young my friend...we will find a way...like we always do...

What are the chances of AROD leaving NY after this season. I say they just went up +500..

NY POST stoops to a new low. Dude can't even get his dick sucked in private anymore? How bout you start chasing around Joe Torre, see if he wipes his ass correctly.

This guy did not need this.. Is this what really makes the front page of the paper today. Disgusting..

Problem of glory hunting in modern sports at it's finest.

We see it with Chelsea and Real Madrid in football (or soccer as you call it) and now with the Yanks. With difference being, Chelsea are an artificially created (big) club, they had their history (which Chelsea fans should be proud of) before Abramovich came and injected 400 million into the club. That's what I call glory hunting.

However, I wouldn't make a parallel between Chelsea and the Yanks, rather the Bombers with Real Madrid and their Los Galacticos era.

Both clubs with HUGE history, impeccable tradition, etc...

And they made HUGE mistakes of piling up outdated star players, who have reached their prime years ago, and players who cannot form a TEAM, but rather a bunch of big names.

You cannot win championships that way.

Yanks' GM has made a shitty job with team selection and compiling the roster, and they're paying the price now. This is far from coincidence, their record and performances. They're missing the core element, instead they have to rely on glimpses by Jeter, A Rod and others (occasionally). I'd rather have Willits (who was anonymous a year ago) and Kotchman than Giambi right now.
Team chemistry, versatility and perseverance are essential parameters for a team to reach the top.

Yankees don't have that. A Rod's partying with strippers (however I don't look at that as a problem, it's the American sportsman's life, something that would NEVER pass in Europe, but I don't give a shit really, I say if you're doing your job on the field/court/ice you should be free to do whatever you want in privacy of your free time), Giambi's battling the press for his steroid use, Clemens is looked at like a savior while in reality he might spark the offense a bit at times but the Yankees "machine" is broken, you can't polish an old engine and expect it to work.

1)Sack Torre, hire a new coach.
2)Sack GM, hire new one
3)start rebuilding this team for next season.
