Week 9 - TV Schedule & Broadcaster Listing

It pains me to type "Week 9".
- Interesting Thursday night game but we have to endure the real Greek Freak
- History Channel missing a new opportunity in not broadcasting the Northwestern / Iowa game. 40's football.
- Ugh, no late night Saturday options. Unfortunate. Maybe the World Series game will go 16 innings.

All times Eastern.

I don't like Louis Riddick on college games. He was fine for NFL - most NFL guys never bother me. I get annoyed easily on college broadcasts. I expect Mullen to bring a lot of knowledge to the booth. Should be good.

Debut in the booth for Dan Mullen Thursday.

Pretty good overall but was really weird late in the game...NC State milking the clock, running, picked up a first down, up 1 point....Mullen says on 1st down to take a shot deep to "put the game away",

Forget about draining the clock. Even then, with a score, it's still a one-possesion game. Throwing deep is the last thing you want there, Dan.

I bailed on that game at the end of the 1q but what I hears from him was pretty solid. Good breakdown of plays. Let the game flow.

I thought Mullen was a little basic in his descriptions at times, but I've heard him on some radio shows and coaches freshly removed from the game can bring a lot to the table and I think Dan will if he sticks with it.

One funny thing, I'm usually critical of announcers and I don't like the names in red above as most do not, but I have to admit, Petros has never really bothered me. Once you're past the voice I don't think he is that bad.

Gus got way off his rocker on Saturday. Referred to the "world famous Ohio State Buckeyes" and the "world's greatest Ohio State Buckeyes". It was really bizarre, made me think he was on his 5th gin and tonic or the like. He also said more than once "...and Ohio State leads it to 10 to nil." I get that Fox is doing the World Cup but it was just more weirdness.

Not Gus's best game.
