31-28 Louisville wins with :05 left to snap 9 game Cardinal losing streak at Doak Campbell. Teams traded TDs 7-7 when FSU LB scooped a Lamar Jackson fumble for a D TD and Noles led 14-7. LV would come right back to tie, an FSU INT led to a missed LV FG right before HT. FSU missed a FG and throw an INT while Cardinals scored 14 straight for 28-14 lead. FSU would score the next 14 pts (helped by roughing passer on 4th-and-10) for 28-28 game. LV was SOD at F27 with 5m left and FSU drove to L21 with 1st down, but ran a zone read and Blackman fumbled with 2m left. LV drove to the F17 and made a 34 FG for the win. Jackson 13-21-156-1-0 (season low yards) – added 178 rushing 1TD. LV ran for 293 (6.7). Blackmon 16-28-248-2-2. FSU ran for 155 (4.1). Each team missed a FG. 23-22 FD FSU, 449-403 TY LV. Each team 50% 3rd down. Petrino said “you know how much I like the passing game - we called a lot more run plays then I’d like to...it was the best way to win this game”.
24-17 Pitt busts 79 and 92y TD runs the later a school record. Darrin Hall finished with 24-254-3TD. DiNucci just 8-18-149-0-0 (sacked 3x) he QB’d the entire game. Jones 15-33-272-2-1, Rahming 8-142-TD receiving. Pitt led 7-0, but Duke would have leads of 10-7, 17-7 and 17-14 before Pitt came from behind. With Duke leading 17-14 Pitt got a big break on a 49y throw, the ball appeared to be INT’d, but the Pitt receiver made enough of an effort to cause the ref to rule simultaneous possession which was upheld with replay. Pitt scored and had the lead 2 plays later. Duke’s final drive got the the P22, but ended in INT. Pitt 485-359 (6.5-6.0) TY, 39-21 TOP. Pitt missed 2 FGs, Duke missed 1. Duke –2 TOs.
41-10 BC dominates with 24 pts and 331 TY in the first half with big plays (76y run and 76y reception). 24-7 HT UVA crossed midfield once on their first 5 drives before the TD drive. They would cross again just twice in the 2nd half. BC D got 3 sacks and 3 INTs. FDs even 19-19, but TY 512-247 for BC (7.2-3.6).
27-19 Miami gets out front early and hangs on late. Eric Dungey started 1 of 11 and threw 4 first half INTs (had 4 on the year coming in), but the score at HT was just 13-3 Miami, then 20-6 with 3m left in the 3rd. Cuse scored on back-to-back drives to make it 20-16. Miami was SOD at S31 and Cuse would kick a long FG to make it a 1 pt game 20-19. Miami added a TD with 3m left 27-19. Cuse final drive was SOD near midfield. Miami kicked FGs of 18 and 39y. Cuse kicked FGs of 22, 40, 45 and 53. 23-22 FD for Syracuse, Miami 480-399 TY. Surprisingly Cuse outrushed them 264-136 (5.2-4.3). Rosier 26-43-344-2-0, 45 rushing with TD. Dungey 13-41-137-0-4 (sacked 3x), Strickland led them with 105 rushing, Dungey had 100.
59-7 Virginia Tech does it Beamer-ball style with two D TDs and ST TD in the first half to lead 35-0 at the break. 21-11 FD and 383-172 (5.2-2.7) TY. Josh Jackson 10-20-132-3-0. Leading Hokie rusher had just 58y (35y on one run). Surratt and Harris both played, Surratt was injured and left for a while. They combined 8-19-118-1-2 (sacked 5x).
38-24 GT comes from behind. GT opened with a long 15p 8min drive, but settled for short 22y FG 3-0. GT would later lead 10-7, but WF would score the next 14 pts to lead 21-10 before HT. GT was driving late 3rd and Marshall was hit late out-of-bounds helping to them towards a 42y FG to cut it 13-21 HT. A WF FG was sandwiched between Tech 49 and 42y TD runs, GT led 25-24 (two failed 2pt conv for GT). GT D was stellar in the 2nd half. WF was SOD at the G43, G40 and G24. GT extended to 31-24 lead (xpt blk’d) and Marshall broke a 70y run to cap the scoring with under 2m left. WF’s final drive got to the G25, but was INT’d in the EZ (only TO of game). GT 29-20 FD, 495-362 TY (6.4-5.9). Marshall 23-163 rushing 2 TD, 5-11-68-0-0 (sacked 3x). Wolford 17-30-252-2-1, –5 rushing. DE Duke Ejiofor had all 3 sacks for WF.
