Week #6 of CFB (9/30-10/4)

Week 5 was both rewarding and frustrating...which i guess should be expected when breaking even overall, and juicing out. Felt great to nail some big plays directly on the head with Oregon St, Bama, USF, Virginia Tech, Nevada, etc...when things played out exactly as planned/capped. Felt bad to come up short on plays like Auburn, Fresno, Louisville, and Hawaii (w/ their 6 turnovers)...when things went a bit wrong, for various reasons. And felt completely stupid on a play or two, like Purdue, where it turned out to be clearly the wrong side. Anyhow, in other words, week #5 had it's share of ups and downs...yet that's the past, and week six is already here.

This is from my week five thread...

lastly, been looking ahead to week six some...and depending on today's outcomes, and where the lines are, here are some leans i have going in:

USF over Pitt
Utah over Oregon St (let down, & a roadie)
WVU over Rutgers
UNC over UConn (just not liking the tards)
Ole Miss over Scary
Texas Tech over K St
GT over Duke
Auburn over Vandy
ND over Stanford
Mizzou over Nebraska
Texas/Colorado over
Bama over Tucky
UCLA over Wazzou
Zona over UW
Testicle St/Dildos over
Baylor over Oklahoma (if i'm catching enough, lol)
Wisky over tOSU
USC over Oregon (hammering anything under 2 scores)

obviously results/injuries/lines/etc will play a big role...but these are jsut (very) early leans for week six. but i can almost guarantee that i'll be on USC, and against Oregon St, next weekend.

Unfortunately, i was not happy with just about all of the lines as they came out on Sunday afternoon. Felt that about all of what i liked heading into the week is over-valued, with inflated lines. So i'm gonna sit tight on most, and hope for favorable line movements during the week.

As for the Tues nite game...
Took Florida Atlantic over Middle Tennessee because i feel the wrong team's favored here...despite MTSU having home field. FAU will be winning the trenches...and you also have to consider the vast difference in competition these 2 teams have faced so far this season.

Best of Luck, as always bro! May join you on FAU!

Thx, bro. Hope you joined me. MTSU can't get jack going offensively. FAU's not doing all that well offensively either...but they are the right side of the game so far. Just hope they don't pull a Louisville, and choke away the 2nd half to an inferior team (on the field). As long as that doesn't happen, should be a nice start to the week.

Anyhow, i got a Wednesday addition. I'll add it to the initial post once the FAU/MTSU game goes final, but i'm on the hova tomorrow nite.

Louisiana Tech/Boise St over 56 (-110) for 1 unit

Hate to go against the (Yag) clock rules with an over, but that's how i capped the thing.
LouTech has been running the ball pretty well this year...and playing against the run hasn't been Boise's strength this year defensively.
Boise's been throwing the ball pretty well this year...and defending the pass hasn't been a strength of LouTech's defense at all this year.
Anyhow, check the recent meetings between these 2 teams...as there have been points put up. But with the line basically at 24, i don't like a side...as it think it's set spot on. That said, i also can't see Boise keeping LouTech to under 17 pts here...but more like 21 to 24. So if i'm right on that, and the spread is indeed spot on, then this'll be in the mid 60s when it's all said and done.

So anyways, it's the hove for wednesday nite.
As for tuesday nite...we're halfway home. Just hope FAU keeps playing stout defense...and that they don't pull a Louisville (of last week) in the 2nd half.

Thx, Tweets...thx, Hunt. :shake:

FAU is doing everything they can offensively to keep the inferior MTSU in the game, dammit.
:hang:

But unlike Louisville last week...at least they're doing everything they can defensively to not allow the inferior MTSU team to get back into this game.

1 quarter to go...

bro, not dogging your units at all...just think it's funny that you didn't round it off after the numbers.

bro, not dogging your units at all...just think it's funny that you didn't round it off after the numbers.

lol. blame the reduced juice the night before the games at 5dimes for that change. but no...i'm not gonna round off, any more than i'd make claims of 10 or more units per game/wager. but fwiw, thats $183.25...though after FAU tonight, $83.25 lol.

speaking of FAU...
damn, feel bad if anyone had them on the money line. if so, that was a horrible beat...as MTSU was completely dominated, with the exception of 2 4th down plays.

more weekday additions...

that post i copied above...about my week 6 leans from week 5...shows how i was ready to jump on both USF and Utah.
i still love both plays, but i also still feel the lines for both are over-inflated. nevertheless, i had to play both for a bit...but i also teased them to a more reasonable (imo) number.

USF (-13.5) for 1 unit
Utah (-11) for 1 unit

and a thurs/fri tease...

USF (-5.5) to Utah (-3) to BYU (-20)
1 unit to win 1.1

other than that, i still got a lot of work left to do on saturday's games. i'm not going to play the other thurs game, memphis/uab. just don't like it. and i'm not going to do anything else, other than that teaser, with the byu/utah st game on friday. however, i will prolly be adding a friday nite play on the cincy/marshall game soon.

good call on FAU yanks.

historically boise and latech play high scoring games. gl tonight.

Well, the weds nite total was clearly the wrong side. Haven't seen a QB looked that scared in a while, lol.

Anyhow, more additions...this time for the weekend. As for friday nite, now i'm leaning towards no play at all...fwiw.

USC (-16) for 1.5
Mizzou (-10) for 1
Illinois (+3) for 1
Auburn (-4) for 1
GTech (-12.5) for 1
Kansas (-12) for 1.5
FSU (+2) for 1
Scary (+3) @ (-120) for 1

said i'd pound the trojans this week at anything under 2 scores. well, i didn't get that opportunity...but i'm still playing it at this #. they are gonna put an ohio st-like beating down on the ducks.

nebraska finally faced some competition last week, and lost. and if they had problems keeping vatech from scoring, just wait until they see mizzou's high powered offense. if it wasn't for the history, i'd be on this heavier.

michigan is just putrid on offense...and incredibly msitake prone. juice will hopefully limit his own mistakes, cuz they can have some decent success against a pretty good wolverine defense if that's the case.

here's where reality begins to set in for vandy. rode them for a while...but i can't any longer...not with their below average offense against this superb tiger defense.

ditto. here's where reality sets in for duke, now that they're on the road against a very stout GT team/defense. if i had a bit more confidence in the GT offense, i'd be heavier on this as well.

with 2 weeks to get their shit together, kansas should just dominate this inferior iowa st team...despite long ago history at this venue. went thru 2 math/power ranking things, and both had KU as a 20+ pt fav. worried bob might see it the same way, so playing it now.

going thru those same 2 things...i made the seminoles a 3 pt fav in this game via power, and a 4 pt fav via math/the comp. the side's been growing on me all week, so i played it small...partly as a test of my own efforts/work.

lastly, scary. heading into week 5 (referenced in a post above), i stated that ole miss was an early lean...as i was liking the spot. but then they go out and beat florida SU, and i'm a week late/dollar short. add in some other factors, and i've switched sides from that very early lean...and made a play the other way. the difference here will be scary's defense...and snead's sometimes uncanny ability to turn the ball over.

anyways, might add more for saturday...might not. doesn't seem like the greatest of week's anymore...and so many of the (inflated) lines aren't moving in my favor. so a lot of those same early leans will prolly go unplayed, not that it's a bad thing per se.

well thurs nite blew donkey dong. definitely not a good start heading into the weekend with that crap.

anyways, 4 final adds for saturday. (i never can resist the late ones, even though they usually screw me.)

Iowa (+6)
UNC (-7) @ (-120)
Arizona St (+9)
Ohio St (-1)

all for a unit a piece.

missed a full pt on iowa, thx to the bob line move. almost missed unc as well, but still had to buy the 1/2 pt.
and no, i'm not a uconn hater. i jsut think they're not all that good...except at RB. well, and a decent (somewhat slow) defense. but getting lorenzen out of there may be the best thing that coulda happened to them, lol.
seriously, read steele's notes...or look at the box score...to see how they were dominated everywhere but the scoreboard by louisville. uconn didnt win that game...louisville lost it with all their mistakes and i'm not jsut talking about the turnovers.
sun devils haven't played since uga, while cal's trying to find out who their qb will be moving forward. historically bad play...but i like the spot, with all the points.
and yes, i swtiched from another early lean to take the ohio st in madison. that said...i fully expect to be on wisky the next weekend, upseting a different big 10 team at home. but for now i gotta go against the dorks. why? because it seems they've been naughty at band camp. ;)

GL today :tiphat:

so far, so good this saturday...the only exception being kansas.
GT, Scary, and Iowa all came thru...Illy's smoking UM, and FSU will hopefully hold on...after having given up so much of their lead in the 3rd.

anyways, 2 more additions...since i didn't have enough plays on my card. ;)

UCLA (-16.5) for 1 unit
and
Texas/Colorado o53 for 1 unit

Like Arizona as well...but can't bring myself to play it over 3 scores. Partly cuz i like this new UW qb, and partly cuz AZ has played jack shit for competition so far this season.

GL :tiphat:

with ya on UNC, but think Wisky takes that one.

Hell of a day yanks. good work

thx, vk :shake:

He did work alright..and won the CFB contest as well.

:tiphat:

seriously, i needed a good saturday...especially after doing so poorly with the midweek games.
but that 10-4 today could've easily been a 12-2 saturday, if people could just make their darned field goals.
the sun devils didn't get that easy 35-yarder for the backdoor cover...and that total missed cuz the buffalo kicker went 0 for 3 in his attempts. still a good day...but those fukin kickers added a couple grey hairs up top, lol.

anyhow...and hunt-diggity-dog should enjoy this...my updated record.
'08 YTD: 42-39-4, +.4175
6 weeks of work for a whole $42, lol.

forgot one thing...my (very) early week 7 leans.

Wake over Clemson
Texas over Okie
Scary over Tucky
Mizzou over Okie Lite
UGA over Tenny
USC over ASU
UNC over ND
TT over Nebraska
Wisky over PSU

of course it'll all depend on the lines, etc.

and i'll prolly just be watching/enjoying my favorite game of next weekend, lsu @ florida.

some excellent games on tap :shake:
