Week 4 What Are We Learning

AR is hopeless -- he can't pass accurately, and he can't be relied on in general. When will Florida get a real quarterback instead of some garbage version of Emory Jones?

I continue to learn that you never really learn and can predict such an unpredictable sport.

I watched most of the Tulane / K-State last weekend. The latter was moribund and comatose, just could do nothing. Perhaps they were looking ahead? Dunno. But they were beyond unimpressive. And then that performance last night against OU, from Taylor Martinez no less?

Wow, just wow.

And then Tulane goes home for a home game that isn’t really a home game(I don’t even have to look or be there to know Southern Miss had more fans there) and gives up a 17-0 lead vs their former OC and lose the game whilst having more talent for a rare change in the rivalry

Shhhhhh, keep this on the low, but KU is quietly 4-0 SU and 4-0 ATS including 2 out right underdog wins…

But seriously, KU’s backfield is legit, they’ve got a 1-2 combo that can hold its own against anyone. Jalon Daniels makes great decisions with the ball, doesn’t force it, he looks pass first and isn’t afraid to stand in there, if the pass ain’t there his legs work just fine.

Once Jayden Daniels faces pressure he'll turn into the little bitch that he is. Sorry buddy, he'll fold like a K-Mart lawn chair soon enough.

Any Heisman list that doesn't have Daniels on it today is not a real Heisman list.

Nope.... Just seen enough of him to know his true colors will show soon enough

66/93 890 yards 11/1 TDs / Int
Another 80 yards per game rushing.

He's been fantastic and it's been against decent competition.

I've no skin in the game. Just curious what makes you think Daniels "true colors" will show?

Maybe a change of scenery will do him good. I've seen him look like a deer in headlights in pac12 play which is what I watch most. Maybe Herm and his shitty NFL retreads were the problem. I'll eat crow if needed but I still think Daniels will look like ASU Daniels at some point.

LMFAO!!!!!!!?

@B.A.R. CALL 911 in Louisville!!!!!!

I think someone is getting high on his own supply of novocain!!!

I’m crying from laughing so hard!!!!!

@twinkie13 @Administrator @guaranteeed @KingKrunked @Jayhawk Nation @EVERYONE_ELSE

Honestly, I haven't watched one second of ku football. Just assumed it was the ASU transfer as I've never heard of another. My bad. Exposed I am, at least I'll admit it.

I could have sworn I read Jaydon, forgive me. Btw, novocaine isn't an actual anesthetic any more...... See how that goes? ;)

You’re a sports fan

I’m not a dentist

Also, it’s KU, @guaranteeed and the Anti-Jayhawk Defamation League will be in touch

Two years ago I would have known who was on what team. With today's player transferring if their coach doesn't suck their dick in spring ball I can't keep up who goes where.

Here are the QB, RB and WR leaders from last week.

Does anyone know where will show things like what teams had the most sacks in a single week, or the most turnovers gained/lost? Everywhwere just groups the total, but I would like to see the weekly highs and lows

Very basic look backs here, any helpful context you may have is appreciated:

AF led 41-7 end of 3Q, Nevada scored twice in the 4th to make the final look "better" 48-20 F. AF ran for 461, attempted 3 passes completed 1.

Alabama 628-129 Total Yard edge with a 34-9 First Down and 228-14 Rushing Yard edge.

James Madison trailed 3-28 in the 2Q, 10-28 HT. Capping their 2H comeback was an INT and return that set them up at the A09 for the 32-28 lead. But there were 10 minutes left, still App State had no miracle comeback efforts today. JMU outgained them 376-298. Turnovers were key for both. App St had two short field TDs after JMU fumbles and the aforementioned JMU short field TD.

There could've been way more points in Utah - ASU. Utah scored just 3 TDs on 6 RZ trips (kicked FGs from the A05 and A10 plus was SOD at the A02) and ASU got just 1 on 3 (kicked FG from the U18 and threw INT from the U17 at the U03). Utah won 34-13.

As mentioned in the SEC thread, Missouri lost that game twice, on a missed short FG at the end of regulation and the fumble into the EZ in OT. Missouri outgained Auburn 312-217, but they were -2 TOs. Auburn only ran 45x for 82y.

BYU outgained Wyoming 525-278. BYU RB Miles Davis had a breakout game. WR Puka Nacua was injured again. Wyoming scored on 2 of their first 3 possessions while BYU punted on 3 of their first 4 (opened game with back-to-back 3-and-outs). But BYU would take a 14-10 lead with :04 left in the 2Q and go on to lead by 18 twice in the 2H. Wyoming cut it to 11 twice. In the final minutes BYU had a TD called back by holding and they would settle for a 25y FG and the 38-24 F.

Michigan RB Blake Corum got a lot of attention for his 243 yards vs Maryland, but Cal RB Jaydn Ott ran for the most yards so far this season, putting up 274 on Arizona (3rd most in Cal history). Arizona actually had leads of 14-7, 21-14, 24-21, but it was all Cal from here as the Bears outscored them 28-7 in the 2H. Cal outgained them 599-530. Arizona was -3 TOs, all occurred in Cal territory in the 3rd and 4th quarters (fumble at C29, INTs at C33 and C41).

Georgia Tech outgained UCF 438-333, but turnovers were costly as GT fumbled at the CF10 and CF12 and were also stopped on downs at the CF6. GT led 7-6 in the final minute of the 2Q, but UCF blk'd a punt and returned it for a 13-7 HT lead. UCF only passed for 8-17-49-0-1, but Plumlee did rush for 100y. Sims had his best game of the year 21-32-314-1-0 (added 28y rushing).

Cincinnati only outgained Indiana 394-348, but won 45-24. The teams combined for just 108 yards rushing. Cincy threw and INT to open the 3rd Q then went 3-and-out 4 straight possessions! Bearcats 2H O was extremely poor, they only gained 82 yards on 9 possessions! (IU had 15-4 first down edge in the 2H). The pointspread play of the game occurred inside of 3 minutes with IU backed up at their own 12, but going for a 4th-13, they were sacked giving Cincy the ball at the I02 and an easy TD and game covering score.

Maybe more later

Navy and East Carolina played one hell of a game.

Navy's opening drive went 11p 73y, but their QB sneak was SOD at the E01. ECU took their possessions 15p 96y for FG from the N03. Navy fumbled at the E42, but ECU punted back and Navy managed a FG at end of 2nd Q. 3-3 HT when Navy had 182 yards and ECU had 123 in the 1H. After exchanging punts Navy was SOD again this time at the E30. ECU took the lead on a 8p 70y TD drive. Navy tied on a deep pass down the middle, 65y TD. 10-10. ECU fumbled first play of next drive and Navy went 5p 25y to take a 17-10 lead early 4th Q. It took ECU 3 plays to tie, 67y TD pass. 17-17. Navy converted a 4th-1 at their own 28 mid 4th Q then faced a 4th-2 at the E47, but opted to punt with 3:24 left. It proved to be a smart decision by coach Ken...ECU was moving the ball, but Navy D got an INT with :25 to go to OT. ECU got 1 FD but had to kick a 26y FG to go up 20-17. Navy got sacked, but still managed a 43y FG to tie 20-20. Navy got a FD, but had to settle for another FG, good from 29y. 23-20. Two incompletions and one short completion forced ECU to attempt a 37y FG, which was missed. Same kicker who beat Navy on a walk-off FG in 2021 and same kicker who missed the game winner vs NC State earlier this year.

Navy had 7 points off the ECU fumble. Navy also was denied potential 7 points on their SOD goal line play 1st Q. ECU had 370-343 TY edge (6.0-4.5). Each team was mid-40% 3rd down. Each team was 3-of-4 RZ scores with each having just 1 TD on those trips. Pretty even game where a couple plays here or there tilt it towards Navy.

Eastern Michigan continues to be one of the most inconsistent teams. Look superior to ULL, leading at halftime, lose by 28. Go to Arizona State and straight up dominate ASU. Come home to play a conference foe looking for their first win of the season and lose 31-50 to Buffalo! Buffalo had a 498-327 TY edge (5.9-6.5) and a 201-137 RY edge (3.7-4.4). UB had nearly a 39-21 TOP edge. It was a back-and-forth game for the first 3 Q with EM having a 31-30 lead late 3rd Q. But UB outscored them 20-0 in the final quarter. The game spiraled out of control for EM when they were SOD 3 consecutive possessions in their own territory which allowed Buffalo to relatively easily tack on 10 additional points. After gaining 277 yards on their first 4 possessions, Eastern Michigan had less than 50 on their final 4.

Florida State returned the opening KO 93y for TD and the blowout was on. FSU led 37-0 before BC scored. 91 of BC's 235 total yards came on their final two possessions. It would've been worse, but FSU was SOD at the BC30 and BC17.

Ball State outgained Georgia Southern 496-474. The game was tied twice in the 2H at 13-13 and 20-20 and Ball St led 23-20 in the 4th. But Ball St had to punt on their two drives after taking the lead and Ga So scored two TDs for the 34-23 score. Ball's final drive ended in INT from the G27 at the G03 with under 1min left.

Georgia State twice cut it to a 10 point margin, but the damage was done. Coastal Carolina jumped out 14-0 on 50+y TDs and built a 24-7 lead 2nd Q. Coastal outgained them by 231 yards.

Rice had leads of 14-7, 21-17 and 27-24. The game was tied 27-27 when Rice was sacked/fumbled and Houston returned it 11y for the go-ahead TD with under 4min to go. Rice then threw a first down INT from the H35 to the H16 and had one more chance, after completing a 51y pass to the H09, their final pass fell incomplete. Houston only outgained them 427-424 (7.4-6.5). Each team was only 2-of-4 RZ TDs.

Total Yards for Baylor - Iowa State were identical 361-361 (another source has it Baylor 361-350). Baylor had an early 17-7 lead, but ISU would come back. It was a 24-14 game early 4th Q when ISU threw an INT at the B36 and Baylor would go on to score, 31-24. ISU came back to make it 31-14, but their onside kick with :54 left was recovered by Baylor. ISU threw another INT earlier in the game in their own territory, but Baylor would be SOD on that possession.

Going to go quickly now

ULM outgained ULL 419-348 with a 227-80 rushing yard edge!

LSU outgained New Mexico 633-88 including passing for 33-39-414!

North Texas outgained Memphis 473-332, but NTex was -2 TO ratio.

Minnesota completed 23-of-26 passes for 268

Michigan led Maryland 34-19 before Mary scored TD with under 1min left. Maryland converted a 4th down on the drive and their TD pass was on 4th down and they go the 2pt conversion.

UConn only attempted 15 passes (completed 10), NC State outgained them 492-160

Northwestern has outgained their last 3 opponents (sometimes significantly), but have lost all 3. It happened again was NW had a 364-278 total yard edge vs Miami Ohio, but NW was -2 TOs. NW fumbled at the M24 - NW had a punt blk'd giving Miami the ball at the NW08 = Miami TD and tie game 7-7. NW was also SOD at the M27 and on their final possession, with Miami leading 17-14, NW fumbled at the M45 to end the game. Miami did have a FG blk'd and also missed a FG

Fordham - Ohio featured a total of 1328 yards, Ohio trailed late, but were able to win 59-52

Arkansas State outgained ODU 397-330 and outrushed them 112-51. Ark St had a 22-12 FD edge

Oregon State threw 4 INTs, but still were leading the game late 4th Q. USC only outgained them 357-320

-4 turnovers hurt Central Michigan, while Penn State led 14-0 early, Central made a game of it, tying 14-14 and trailing just 14-21 HT. They would not score again however as Penn State won 33-14. Penn State did turn those turnovers into points, they had a 3p 15y "drive" for TD after an INT and also had a 2p 7y "drive" for TD after a muffed CM punt. CM also fumbled at the P22 and were SOD at the P36. Penn State did miss 2 FGs. PSU outgained them 403-363

FAU outgained Purdue 419-354

Rutgers led 3-0, but lost 10-27. Iowa had a 45y pick-six and a 30y fumble return TD. Rutgers did outgain them 361-277 (4.9-5.0), 218 of Rutgers' yards did come in the 2H. Iowa converted just 1-of-9 3rd downs!

Toledo outgained San Diego State 376-216. San Diego State ran just 33 plays! Aztecs had a 43y TD run and a 50y FG on a possession that gained just 17 yards of O. That had them leading 10-0 in the 3rd Q! Toledo would score back-to-back TDs to lead 14-10. SD St would go 67 yards for the go-ahead TD with :34 left. Toledo's first pass of the next possession was INT'd. Toledo lost 4 TOs on the day, they previously threw INT and lost a fumble both in SD St territory and their first possession of the 3rd Q ended in INT. Toledo also missed a FG. San Diego State was just 1-of-12 3rd downs!

Western Michigan only attempted 13 passes, completing 8. San Jose outgained them 397-201, WM's only TD was a 90y KO return, they went for 2 and failed.

TCU outgained SMU 487-476. SMU was -2 TOs, TCU converted both into TDs, one on a short field

South Alabama beat LaTech 38-14, but only with a 389-308 TY edge. LT had a -3 TO ratio - LT actually had 4 straight drives end in turnovers! South Alabama had a pick-six and a short field TD off a fumble recovery. LT was also SOD at the SB18

Charlotte led 7-3 and 14-10. South Carolina led 20-14 HT and blew it open winning 56-20 with a 545-292 total yard edge. Drive chart says that 171 of Charlotte's yards came on their first two possessions resulting in TDs

Syracuse outgained Virginia 352-287, but Cuse lost 4 TOs to UVA's 2

There were 6 turnovers in UMass-Temple, with Temple losing 4 of them. Temple only outgained them 313-259 in the 24-0 shutout

Florida outgained Tennessee 594-576, but Vols outrushed them 227-141

Arkansas outgained Texas A&M 415-343, but suffered the dreaded "14 point swing" (13 point swing in this case) and had the potential game winning FG go off the upright

Texas State outgained Houston Baptist 479-136 in the 34-0 win

Texas Tech has run 100 or more plays twice this year. They outgained Texas 479-426

Troy outgained Marshall 421-174, Marshall was held below 100y passing and rushing

Tulane outgained Southern Miss 451-253, but lost 24-27. Tulane led 14-0 and 17-10 HT. But Southern Miss found their O in the 2H and aided by a 35y pick-six would take a 27-17 lead! Tulane had a stretch of 2H possession end in punt, missed FG, blocked FG, INT, SOD

Utah State lost 6 turnovers and outgained UNLV 419-320

UTEP outgained Boise 322-177

Clemson outgained Wake Forest 559-447, Clemson was penalized 10x for 120y

Washington D got 8 sacks! They outgained Stanford 478-372. Turnvoers again a problem for Stanford as they lost 3, all of which Washington turned into 17 points

Oregon outgained Washington State 624-428! Oregon scored 29 points in the 4th Q including 22 inside the final 2:47 of the game! Oregon fell behind due to kicking 3 FGs in the RZ in the 1H and throwing an INT on their other 1H possession. WSt turned that INT into a 95y pick-six, while Oregon had a 27y pick-six in the 2H. Neither team was especially good on 3rd down (Ore 4-11, WSt 5-12), but Oregon was 2-for-2 4th down. Duck D 4 sacks and 11 TFLs.
