Week 2: Midweek MACtion with Marsski

Marsski

MAC Marvel
YTD: 2-2, +0.42

Gentlemen: Not the best week last week but we squeezed out a profit thanks to luckboxing with my Bobcats in the Battle of the Bricks. What happened to NIU's defense? Yikes. I also called out Trayvon Rudolph to have a big game so, of course, he runs the opening kick back and doesn't do shit in the pass game. That's life in MACtion. All four favorites cover in week one.

I woke up this morning to snow in inner city Columbus so beware of possible weather in the Ohio/Michigan region over the next couple of days. Games in Akron and Kalamazoo Tuesday and Oxford, Mt. Pleasant, and Amherst Wednesday.

This week's slate:

Tuesday

Ohio
Western Michigan +1.5 47.5

Kent State
Akron -5.5 47.5

Wednesday

NIU
U Mass +11 42.5

Toledo
Miami Oh +3 44.5

Buffalo
C Michigan -1.5 43.5

Back in here later. All comments welcome.

Some player props would be fun. I'm sorry but I don't have anything smart to say on any of these teams but am open to suggestions. Can't bet player props on US books in Ohio, but assume offshores put up MACtion player props?

Yes they do. I haven't been particularly successful playing them but pay per head and offshore have usually have QBs, a couple RBs, and 3 or 4 WRs. Nothing up yet at mine except a TD market.

Immensely appreciate your time

On Western Michigan ML tonight. Think their defense will be the best unit on the field. Solid on 3rd down stops. Plus the Bobcats appear to have a few injuries on their defense...Hoping for some real football weather too !!!

Wonder if tonight will be played like Akron's defacto bowl game ?? Banned from postseason play id think the battle for the wagon wheel would be the most meaningful game on the schedule ...

Interested in your thoughts, tempted to pass but maybe a cheap teaser on the under and Kent St is worth a play imo ...

I'd like to get +7 with KENT...my book is charging me -130 for that number right now. With flurries and wind expected, I could only have under on that total....

Kent State @ Akron

Hoping to catch a 7 here in the Wagon Wheel. I prefer DeShields at QB to Finley and Kent State has played everyone in conference within 4 except for Toledo. They honestly could be sitting at 4-1 right now having lost the lead in two games in the final minute. We are expecting some weather for this game which probably helps Akron with the stronger run game.
Nonetheless, I just think it's too many points and while Kent hasn't won on the road in forever this game is pretty much a neutral site with about 1,000 fans apiece I would expect. Kent is 10 miles from Akron if you don't know.
Waiting on a 7....

I think its going to be cold, but no flurries and medium wind. I kind of think Ohio gets their points--Finn just threw for 280 on WMU and non-passing CMU had 185 through the air so not sure that the defense is where it was when they shut down Toledo. Not against your ML but think Ohio's offense will be decent...

You make a strong case for Ohio tonight , strongly dislike being on the other side.
Was hoping for more wind , and the snow we got here in Buffalo the last 2 days lol ...On the Broncos +100 for only a unit , see they're the chalk now here -115...

My play: Ohio Bobcats TT over 23.5 to win 1 unit (-115)

Ohio has been over this number in 4 of 5 in conference. I liked what I saw in the second half against Miami, a MAC defense I rate above WMU's. I expect to see a balanced attack but think Navarro can get his magic act going a secondary that can be had. Admittedly, Westen shut down Toledo but their last two MAC results have been on the leaky side. They were lucky to beat one-dimensional Central IMO last week. Maybe I got my Bobcat-tinted lenses on but I played it.

Can anybody help a brother out?

Well, of those, I probably like Gant over rush yards or Deshields over 40.5 long completion the best as he has a pass 35+ in all his starts...but what kind of wind do we think we are going to get in Akron? What I'm seeing says 15 mph with gusts to 29. That would be my only concern with the Deshields over

My play: Kent State +7 for 1 unit

I'll take the points here as I think these teams are pretty evenly matched. This is a big rivalry!

Nice , happy to be on the same side with you here ..
I don't have the balls to take the
Golden Showers +7

went with this teaser at -108
Kent St +13.5
Under 56.5

Good game to be at in Akron. But we left late 3Q. Friend lives nearby and watched the crazy 4Q there where Akron made their comeback

I’m counting marski 2-0 on props even if books won’t. Gant had 100y entering OT and is TFL’d to lose the rushing prop. That’s a bad beat. But right on friends. Also had Kent 1H and game +pts. Friend is Kent grad so that went over well. Sat with Akron friends. Almost wish we’d stayed until the OT end to experience the anguish

Sorry no turnover tire / touchdown tire pics this time, was in wrong spot.

That is a bad beat. Sounds like a good time was had and some money went in your pocket. You're a true MACtion legend for going to the Wagon Wheel annually. Maybe I'll have to join you some time. I went to a game at the Rubber Bowl many years ago... Just knowing the turnover tire exists will have to be enough this year.

YTD: 3-3, +0.27

1-1 night for me so juicing out. One great read and one not so great read, perhaps my fandom affected the call as it was plain to see the Bobcats had luckboxed against Miami and were due for a letdown.

Three games on the slate today. I haven't bet anything yet but could only have NIU or UMass TT under in that game. Others ones are tricky and need more thought.

Back in later.

probably have my University at Buffalo glasses on tonight , although I've made far more money fading🤑 the BULLS over the years than backing them 😆🤣🤣🤣..

Bulls defense is fantastic against the run , and the Chipps have major issues throwing the forward pass ...Think this matchup strongly favors the UB defense ...Game winner will probably come down to whether Roberson doesn't make timely mistakes ...

Tempted to put 2 units on my boys tonight ...Looking forward to your thoughts much respected Brother 🤔🤔🤔

NIU @ U Mass

This game looks to be played in wind and probably some snow flurries in Amherst. U Mass has scored 10 or fewer points in 6 of 7 with the only exception being rambling all over Buffalo. They have scored 10,13 , 21, 6, and 3 in MAC play. They are just a really bad team that Sagarin rates somewhere in the mid 200s. NIU's defense got lit up by Toledo last week but the offensive gulf between U Mass and Toledo is wide. For the most part, NIU has been very good at limiting explosive plays and making teams try to drive the field. The LB play is very good and the secondary should be able to stop the one decent WR that U Mass has in Gibson.
If you make U Mass' offense cross the street a bunch, they will inevitable get hit by a car.
No one has anything to play for here, but I'll bet that U Mass' utter incompetence will carry the day. I also lean to NIU with the points but would hate to see this land 20-10 and lose ATS...you can expect NIU to be run heavy here and try and shrink the game.

My play: U Mass Team Total under 14.5 -115 to win 1 unit

Think I trust Gleason over Finn. Toledo sucks on the road but was up DDs in conference in a couple of them before blowing it.
Yeah, Finn has clearly regressed to me. He looks like he's an offense that just doesn't fit him and I don't know if he's put on weight from the days at Toledo but doesn't seem to be nearly as explosive with his legs. I didn't really notice until I saw him in person in Athens.

In light of the conditions, any play/lean on the game under as well?

I don’t have time for a full breakdown but not a believer in Buffalo this year even though I love their coach.
If U Mass can run on you then I know CMU can.
CMU has a coach that loves to bully in the trenches and I think that’s what we see tonight on the line of scrimmage both ways.
I know my friend from Western NY will be disappointed with me but I played the Chips here.
My play: Chips -2 for 1 unit.

Lean Toledo but I can’t play them because of their home/road splits. Miami has the better coach and better defense but my spider sense says the Rocket Men win with the better QB and running game.
Staying off this game.

2H ADD: NIU Over team total 13.5 -105 to win half unit

U Mass seems totally unable to stop NIU and even if they pull the starters here midway through the second half, I still think they score 2 TDs. NIU will have first possession of 2H as well and should be playing everyone.

We sweep the board to end the week with an overall MACtion record of 6-3 +2.77 units.

Back at it next week with five MACtion games as league leader Western Michigan travels to NIU with a whole posse of teams in close pursuit. Only two weeks left.
