Week 18 What Are We Learning

Being the Rodgers fan that I am it was good to see him go out that way and such a shame that the Jets can and will ruin any QB that wears that uniform.

I don't think it's all Smith. Hard to polish that Wilson turd. How hurt can Fields be? He was worth a shot last night. They need a new DC and imho a HC.
Its not all Smith but he does suck. The Steelers should hire a new OC and I would bring in Rodgers as a short term answer to compliment that defense.

Green Bay good team but couldn't beat upper echelon.

Tough sledding at Philly no matter who's playing.
Let those east coast teams play each other in Philly while my west coast team plays in a dome for a couple. Pretty sure McVay knows about Campbell telling O’Connell at midfield, We’ll see you in 2 weeks. Nice bulletin board material for both games.

I think that's coach speak man.

What you gonna tell him? Have a nice summer.

Remember, we reseed here.

Detroit can play Wash, GB, Minny or LAR.

Yes. I guess Washington could beat Bucs. I don’t see Philly losing with some of the recent injuries Green Bay took.

Any of the Det area guys planning on attending playoff gms? SB if they make it?

Not the SB.

Last year I would have in Vegas. We had multiple free places to stay.

Nothing to do with last week but I'm not exactly keen on big cities currently with events.

Playoffs? We did vow not to spend the money like last year. Totally the wife's decision. Last year vs TB was incredible and worth it.

That's awesome. The atmosphere looked amazing for the gm last year. Just think will be in unreal this year as they are the 1 seed. Expectations on pricing?

SB is a pricey ticket. Did it once and was well worth because Rams won but could never spend that kind of coin for a game ever again. Having a hard time coughing up $300 for the WC this week.

The most expensive in the league.

Tonight 30 mins before the game prices dropped big time. You could get in for 600-700 for 2.

Last year, the TB game started the week at 1700 for a pair. That's upstairs.

We waited all week and the wife bought them late Saturday night at way less than half that.

Best 690 we've spent. Just incredible.

Shall see how it goes.

Have you been to Waste mgmt before? Great time?
I have not.

We've planned it out a few times but end up doing March for the desert (Vegas).

We have family within 10 mins of the course during the winter. So, that helps.

That event on my bucket list for sure.

Shall see.

The joke is that the Lions will definitely make the SB since I'll have to be elsewhere.

You really don't understand the noise level until you're in there. TV doesn't do it justice.

That's why tonight was so important, despite our 8-0 road record.

Lol, I'm sure you will be amped no matter where you are if the Lions are in the SB! Wow didn't realize they will get that high. Have to put it on my list to attend a Lions gm! Seems like a fun environment!

Totally agree with the importance of the win and the much needed rest. Hopefully Arnold is ok. Have to think either or both Lions / Bills making the SB would be most expensive tickets due to the fan bases.

That's really the coolest scenario for the league.

Two of the starving fan bases.

Both have tough roads ahead.

@B.A.R. @HUNT my apologies for doubting Detroit. Really thought the injuries on D would doom them against Minny. Holy shit what an ass kicking. Made Darnold look like a rookie again. That team is definitely still alive.
Thanks bro.

Defense was so much better.

I think they will be somewhere in the middle of that and last week in the postseason.

Why is that bulletin board material? Who cares. Goes both ways anyways with the Stafford-Kerby Joseph comments. Fuck Stafford.

Doesn’t really have anything to do with the games, but we’ll definitely be learning about things at FS1 😂😂

Acho is an unbridled clown. My only regret is that this didn't come to the forefront sooner so we wouldn't have been subjected to his hot takes many months ago.

Strangely, Acho has been pretty silent since this shit hit the fan.

Pretty obvious why. Joseph went for Higbee’s knees and blew out his knee.
Goff better hope he doesn’t choke on the same chicken bones in his next Super Bowl appearance. I still think he’s soft and will wilt vs any kind of defense than can get pressure on him.

Early strategy for 2025 fantasy season on QBs will probably be to wait, wait, wait unless you just have to have Allen or Lamar. All kinds of viable starters available:

Tier 1
Allen
Lamar

Tier 2 (was a 2-3 point gap between Tier 1 and Tier 2, which is pretty significant)
Hurts
Burrow
Daniels

Tier 3 (another 1-3 point gap between Tier 2 and Tier 3 but less consistent)
Baker
Nix
Goff
Herbert
Young (26 points per game last 3 weeks against teams fighting to make the playoffs)

Then you still have Purdy, Mahomes, Love, Kyler, Darnold, Richardson, Dak, Caleb and Maye, at least a couple will jump Tiers.

Tight end was hit or miss in 2024 for fantasy. The big names showed up eventually, but those who snagged Bowers with a double-digit draft pick were the big winners. The top tier is very shallow. Here are the top 12 in 1/2 pt PPR this past year:

Kittle - Renaissance year, toughed it out when Aiyuk went down and he became truly needed. Can he stay healthy two years running?
Bowers & McBride - next year's top two most likely
Taysom Hill - when all the receivers went down he back a boom/bust option. I can't see that happening again.
Njoku - offense has been a great fit for him but he can't stay on the field
Jonnu Smith - big surprise considering how little the TE was used by Miami before he got there. No idea where the Dolphins go from here.
Andrews & Kelce - Vets showed up in the 2nd half of the season. Andrews looks back at 100%. Kelce....does he return?
LaPorta - Anyone who drafted him will tell you he had a poor year, yet he was TE9! Shows how tough it was finding 12 viable TEs week to week.
Ertz - Drank the magic Daniels elixir and had a great year. Last call?
Goedert - More injuries, tough to trust
Kraft - Played every game but was never a focal point

Honarable mention
Engram - was supposed to be the security blanket for Lawrence but either one or the other was hurt most of the time
Hockenson - didn't come back until Week 9, and by then Darnold was trusting JJ and Addison for most of the work. Zero TDs.
Freiermuth - became a TD threat but usually from outside the red zone. Was an afterthought too often in Arthur's gameplans.
Otton - became a thing while Godwin and Evans were out. Cast aside as soon as Evans returned.

Weird year at WR as the top players in points/game saw a lot of injuries, while RBs stayed by a large healthy:

Chase - huge year from him
Godwin - gone week 7
JJ - toughed it out to play all 17, but at times took a back seat to Addison
Tee - missed 5 games
Amon-Ra - great season
Puka - missed 5
Nico - missed 5
Malik - missed 2 but otherwise was a target hog
Evans - missed 3
CD - only missed the last game but was playing hurt and at a lower ceiling with Dak out
Adams - missed 3
Thomas - really took off after Lawrence, Kirk and Davis all went down
AJ - missed 3
Drake - played well
McLaurin - more Daniels juice
Rashee - poured one out for his loss
Devonta - missed 3
Ladd - missed 1 and was gimpy a couple more
Diggs - gone week 8
Jameson - missed 2
Addison - missed 2
Wilson, JSN, Sutton - played them all and the latter two were later round gems. I give Wilson a pass for not living up to his draft slot due to the appearance of Adams.

The TE position this year was so wildly interesting.

Wanted Brock but kept waiting one more round.

Sammy came on the last 6 weeks. I'm curious if he still had lingering effects from the injury?

Goff has exceeded anyone's expectations at Detroit. Especially yours.

That was not intentional by Joseph.

But we're both biased.
