Regarding the two NFL games streaming on Netflix today:

1735130579920.png

After the Paul/Tyson fight debacle that Netflix had, Mike Florio of NBC Sports asked the NFL if they had a backup plan for the two games today.

I’d guess most readers here are aware, but just in case, the live stream of the fight was riddled with buffering and picture/sound breakup, most likely due to the volume of viewers overwhelming the Netflix servers. It was unwatchable.

Speculation exists that since CBS is producing the games for Netflix, if the same problem happens as with the fight, and the games are unwatchable, maybe they show up on CBS across the country; at least that would keep NFL fans happy and prevent revenue loss. I wonder if local CBS stations have been alerted to this possibility? Probably not.

Here is the NFL reply:

“Are there any contingency plans in place for tomorrow (Christmas Day) in the event Netflix has technical issues?”

Here’s the response received, from a league spokesperson: “We will be prepared, and we are looking forward to a great day.”

How fitting that on a faith based holiday, the NFL is putting its trust in a broadcast partner that has never been the only source for a live game before.

If you’re an NFL fan, and a religious person, I’d suggest a little prayer time before the games today…..

Having said that, I would have to believe that if Amazon Prime Video and NBC Peacock can pull off live-streaming of their NFL games, so can Netflix. We shall see.

Merry Christmas!

Christmas 1:00 ET: Kansas City @ Pittsburgh (Netflix; Ian Eagle, Nate Burleson, J.J. Watt)

He should be put in red for all future dates

It wasn’t good. There were 3 of em in the booth, one guy sucked. Real bad.

Was it Nate? I really couldn’t tell which
Ian is usually good. The biggest problem for him was being in the booth with 2 newbies ( Burleson and JJ Watt). Hard to have chemistry 1st time out.

That makes more sense. Eagle is one of the best, overall.
I didn't think Nate and JJ were too terrible either. It's really not easy to do, just ask Brady. I thought Nate's biggest issue was he kept harping on the whole TJ and JJ brother

If TB12 would just Manning Cast it……he’d be fine.
Seems he’s being “coached”…..just relax and talk about QB and defense
