Week 13 M*A*S*H Report: Injury-Ridden Jaguars An Auto-Fade?

Indianapolis at Jacksonville

The Jaguars added left guard Andrew Norwell to injury reserve after he suffered an ankle injury last Sunday. He joins center Brandon Linder and tackles Josh Wells and Cam Robinson on the growing list of Jaguars blockers who are out for the rest of the season. The Colts, though, don’t have much of a pass rush, which must come as good news to backup quarterback Cody Kessler, who will be getting his first start as a Jaguar over Blake Bortles and isn’t as mobile as Bortles. Kessler won’t have Leonard Fournette in the backfield after he was suspended for one game and he won’t have receiver DJ Chark. On defense, the Jaguars have a number of defensive backs listed as ‚questionable.‘ Keep an eye out on the status of top cornerback Jalen Ramsey, who had not practiced all week before being upgraded to limited practice on Friday. If you trust the Colts to play well on the road and not look ahead to their next opponent (Houston), the Colts at -4 must look tempting.

Minnesota at New England

Minnesota has two key players listed as ‚questionable.‘ One is wide receiver Stefon Diggs, who was limited in Friday’s practice, but still insists that he’s playing. The other is Xavier Rhodes, the two-time Pro Bowler at cornerback. The injury that he suffered last Sunday wasn’t as bad as initially thought. However, he seemed more limited in Friday’s practice than Diggs and he’s not confident at all that he will play.

Baltimore at Atlanta

The Falcons have been a mess on defense, ranking lowly in several defensive categories in large part due to a host of injuries to key players. However, they get one key player back, linebacker Deion Jones. Jones played a big role in Atlanta’s season opener, accruing nine tackles before his injury in an 18-12 nail-biting loss at Philadelphia. For Baltimore, Joe Flacco practiced. But the starting quarterback is still listed as ‚doubtful‘ and you should expect another start from the rookie Lamar Jackson. Moreover for Baltimore, safety Tony Jefferson has been ruled ‚out‘ and tackle James Hurst is listed as ‚doubtful.‘ Upstart running back Gus Edwards practiced fully on Friday. But, the best hope for Baltimore’s run game is still listed as ‚questionable,‘ so you may want to check on his status before placing your wager.

Denver at Cincinnati

Jeff Driskel will start at quarterback for Andy Dalton, whom the Bengals placed on injury reserve with an injury to his right thumb. Dalton had been woefully inconsistent lately and his loss could be a good thing for the Bengals. His replacement, Driskel, is a big question mark because of his inexperience. He’ll be making his first career start. He put up pretty good numbers against the Browns, but had the benefit of playing from behind and the Browns probably hadn’t game-planned for him. Cincinnati’s defense has been an utter mess, giving up over 30 points in four of its last five games. But, its defense will benefit from being much healthier this week. Dre Kirkpatrick and Darqueze Dennard will play, meaning that Cincinnati is fully-stocked at cornerback. Also, Nick Vigil is expected to bolster Cincinnati’s linebacking crew. On offense, top wide receiver A.J. Green is ready to go.

Arizona at Green Bay

Green Bay is heavily favored in this one. But a host of injuries may prevent them from covering the large spread. Left tackle David Bakhtiari is listed as ‚questionable.‘ He would go up against Arizona’s Chandler Jones, the defensive end who already has 11 sacks on the season. Aaron Rodgers needs Bakhtiari to protect his blindside. Left guard Lane Taylor has been, like Bakhtiari, limited in practice and is listed as ‚questionable.‘ On defense, starting strong safety Kentrell Brice has been ruled ‚out,‘ as has backup free safety Raven Greene. Green’s injury is relevant because the starting free safety may have to play cornerback because Bashaud Breeland and Kevin King may not be ready to go. Green Bay could be terribly shorthanded at both cornerback and safety.

San Francisco at Seattle

Scoring will likely come difficult for the 49ers, who will miss their two best wide receivers, Pierre Garcon and Marquise Goodwin. For Seattle, linebacker KJ Wright has been ruled ‚out.‘

Cleveland at Houston

The top injury headline is the status of J.J. Watt. The superstar defensive end has been limited in practice and is listed as ‚questionable.‘
