Temple led throughout the first half with UCF twice taking the lead and Temple taking it back. 34-28 TU HT. UCF would get the lead with a 14-0 3rd qrt and play from ahead the entire 2nd H. Temple blew some chances in the 2nd H. With the game 42-34, Temple had 3rd-and-4 at CF12, but had back-to-back false start penalties and then missed a 40y FG. Next possession Temple cut it to 42-40, 2 pt no good. After UCF went up 49-40 mid 4th Owls had 1st down at CF20, but had a holding and a sack resulted in a 4th-and-20 from the CF30, passing up on a 47y FG, they threw incomplete to the EZ making their RZ trips just 5 for 7 (UCF 7 for 7). UCF D got 3 sacks, Temple got 0. Temple gained their most yards since 1974 and outgained UCF 670-630, but were penalized 14x for 149y. UCF had 318 (7.4) – 226 (4.9) RY edge.

Memphis – East Carolina was closer than 59-41. ECU had a 14-10 1st qrt lead and it was 24-17 Memphis HT. Game was tied 31-31 3rd qrt and just 38-34 entering the 4th qrt. Mem was up 45-34 when they threw incomplete on 3rd-and-8, but a very late hit on the WR resulted in a targeting call and a 1st down, Mem would take a 52-34 lead instead of punting. Memphis nearly got in the back door after having a 1st down at the M16 with a minute left, but would finish with 2 incompletions SOD at the M07. There was only one turnover in the game, ECU fumbled at their own 23 leading to an easy Memphis TD.

Last year Navy ran for 569 yards on Cincinnati. This year Cincy outrushed Navy 262-124 and 451-171 overall yardage edge. UC led 28-0 HT and won . Navy got closer than the UC25. First time Navy has been shutout in 6 years and most lopsided loss in 7 years.

A USF blog describes the Tulane game as “outmatched, unprepared, uninterested”. WR Clervaux said “We just weren’t focused...we took Tulane for granted”. Tulane led 7-3 after 1st qrt, 27-3 HT and by as many as 34-3 mid 3rd qrt. 41-15 F. USF did outgain them 442-429 (5.4-6.8), but lost 3 TOs and were penalized 11x for 108y. Tulane enjoyed good field position throughout the game with avg starting the T42 for the game, USF avg starting field position was SF25. Tulane D also got 5 sacks!

Tulsa only outgained UConn 349-292 HT, but led 28-13. UConn had 1st and goal with :12 left in the 1st H, but got zero points. Tulsa scored 3 straight TDs to start the 2nd H and led 49-13 before UConn scored with :44 left in the game for the 49-19 F.

SMU finished with 196 rushing yards on 40att, their previous 3 games combined they rushed for just 142! Ed Oliver DNP. Houston barely crossed midfield just once on their first 4 drives. SMU led 17-0 and 31-14 HT. It was 38-17 entering the 4th qrt. Houston cut it to 38-31 9min left, but SMU tacked another one on and killed nearly 7min of clock (three 3rd down conversion on the 13p 60y drive – 90min lightening delay during the drive). UH fumbled effectively ending the game with 2:25 left. UH came in avg 49.8 ppg, were held below 40 for the first time this year. 45-31 Ponies! SMU D got 4 sacks. SMU had 25-25 FD and 514-365 (6.1-5.3) yard edges.

Virginia came into the Pitt game controlling their own destiny in the Coastal Division, ranked for the first time since 2011 and had only been penalized 4.3x per game. UVA was hit with 10 penalties for 80y including some very costly ones (3 penalties opening drive, Pitt got 3 FDs by penalty). UVA fumbled on 4th down at the P31, but led 10-7 HT. A controversial horse-collar tackle kept a Pitt drive alive on which they took the lead 14-10. UVA lost 3 D starters to injury during the game (Thornhill, Alonso, Blount). Pitt outrushed them 254-44 (6.0-1.7). UVA RB Jordan Ellis ran 10att-46y, but 22 of those came on one rush. Hall ran 19att-229-3TD. Pitt D 5 sacks (UVA 3).

Wake Forest led 10-0, but Syracuse scored the next 28. WF got as close as 35-24 late 3rd qrt, but Cuse kicked 28 and 34y FGs for the 41-24 F. WF outgained them 434-421, but Deacs were -3 TOs, got hit with 10 penalties for 95y and were sacked 5x. Cuse got a 4p 10y TD “drive” and a 9p 24y “drive” for FG after fumbles. WF’s last two drives ended in INT at S10 and SOD at S08.

Boston College was held to just 7 pts through 2+ qrts, VT led 14-7 HT, but Eagles outscored VT 24-7 in the 2nd H for the 31-21 win. BC had slight 396-392 (5.3-5.0) yard edge. VT has lost it’s 3rd straight home game for the first time since 1992. A young and already thin VT D lost CB Watts (broken arm) and NT Burke (Achilles) during the game (who was in for injured Hewitt). Two LBs got their first career starts for VT with starters leading tkl’r Ashby and Rivers not playing. Despite that, Addazio credits the D for making it tough on them early in the game although BC finished with 219 (4.5) RY. Dillon had 96y, but appeared to get hurt on a sideline hit and Levy filled in 11att-75-2TD.

Louisville suffered their worse loss since 1941. LV has allowed 50 pts 5x this year. Clemson avg’d 11.6 yards per play was the best in Clemson history. CU outgained them 612-312 with 150 of LV’s yards coming on their final 2 drives.

North Carolina State led 17-0 and 27-14 HT and 47-21 before FSU scored with just :40 left. NCSt ran for 177 (3.6), more yards than they ran for in their previous 2 games combined. Finley was 21-28-240-3-0 (not sacked), although Blackmon went 29-48-421-4-1 (NCSt ranked 126th pass D coming into game). FSU outgained them 445-417 (6.5-5.4). 210 of FSU’s yards did come on their final 4 possessions. Noles were penalized 16x for 121y and -2 TOs, one leading to a 7p 32y TD drive. FSU was also SOD 3x, once at the N15, but twice in their own territory which NCSt converted into two easy FG drives.

Duke won at Miami for the first time in 42 years and is now 3-13 all time vs Miami. Game was played in a heavy downpour in the 1st H, Miami held Duke to just 290y with 75 coming on the opening play of the game (held Duke to 40y on next 7 drives after that run), but Miami had some costly mistakes despite outgaining them 411-290 (5.7-4.3). UM led 12-7 (bad xpt and missed 2pt). UM fumbled at their own 12 leading to a 27y Duke FG…12-10. Duke blk’d a FG and took that drive 9p 65y to take a 17-12 lead end 3rd qrt. Duke added a FG to lead 20-12. Perry came in the game with 12min left. Perry went just 5-16-35-0-0, but nearly led a comeback. UM scored a TD with :13 left, but Cager was called for O PI and the last two passes were incomplete. Canes RBs Homer and Dallas both ran for over 100y combining 30att-277-2TD.

GT led 21-10 HT, but were SOD 4th-and-2 at the N06 with :27 left. Johnson said that was a bad call by him and he should’ve kicked the FG, he was “trying to put them away”. Still GT had built a 28-10 3rd qrt lead with UNC’s only TD up to that point being a fumble recovery return by the D. NC would however tie at 28-28 thanks to a stretch of possession when GT went fumble, SOD, fumble. With a chance to take the lead, Elliot threw an INT at midfield and down just 7 Elliot threw another INT which was ret’d to the N19 allowing GT to take a 38-28 lead with :46 left. GT ran fro 461 (6.2) and outgained them 565-374 (7.4-5.6), Oliver 2-2-104-1-0 passing. NC threw 3 INTs, GT fumbled 3x. NC did convert a good 8-of-14 3rd down, GT was limited to 4-of-11 3rd down (2-of-4 4th). Fr QB Jace Ruder replaced Elliot in the 2nd qrt, but Ruder was knocked out of the game and Elliot returned.

Michigan State got it’s 700th win in program history, 24-3. MSU outgained Maryland 356-100 including 269-26 RY (5.8-.9) and 19-9 FD edges. Maryland had a drive start at the MSU42 after a 16y punt, led to FG, and MSU34 after an 8y punt, led to fumble at MSU28. Maryland nearly got a pick-six, but LB fumbled at the MSU02 and Sparty recovered in the EZ.

With the game 16-7 (Ohio State blk’d punt for TD), Nebraska had 1st and goal at the O05, but NU false started and then Martinez made a huge mistake scrambling and throwing a backwards pass to a receiver who wasn’t ready or really open and OSU took over at their own 26 dodging a bullet. That possession would start a series for OSU where they went 3-and-out punt, fumble, fumble. Nebraska led 21-16 HT with a 256-212 1st H yard edge and only trailed 30-24 mid 4th qrt. OSU did get some breaking room 36-24 with under 5min left, but NU went 7p 75y for TD with under 3min left. NU kicked off deep with 2 timeouts and 2:57 left. OSU killed the clock. OSU finished with 481-450 (6.7-5.5) yard edge. OSU -2 TO margin.

Wisconsin led Rutgers 24-3 through 3 quarters. Hornibrook threw 7-16-92-0-2 and did not play 2nd H (concussion). 205 of Rutgers’ 333 yards came on their final 4 drives where they scored 17 pts. UW ran for 317 (6.9). For the second straight week, Rutgers O did not lose a turnovers (-10 on the year).

Iowa – Purdue was a tight game most of the way, PU would occasionally go up by 2 scores but Iowa would chip into it. Until Iowa took their first lead of the game with 10min left which was set up by an INT and return to the P26. Iowa had another INT earlier in the 2nd H at the I08 that stopped a potential PU scoring opportunity. Clinging to a 1 point lead Iowa was only able to kill 3-1/2min off the clock and punted back to Purdue with 4:30 left. PU took over at the 50. The key play was a 2nd-and-18 D PI on Fr Iowa DB Brents that set up PU at the I16. PU was content killing the final minute, making Iowa use timeouts and kick the game wining 25y FG as time expired…38-36 Boiler Up. Much of the talk was focusing around Ferentz’s decision to go for 2pt conversions in the 3rd and 4th qrts, both of which failed. It is a little over simplistic to say that those decisions cost them the game, true had Iowa kicked those xpts and led by 3 rather than 1, it would’ve forced PU to score a TD to win rather than kicking a FG to win instead of tie. But you never know what you don’t know, if one of those conversions was good, or if PU would’ve just won by 4 with a TD instead of by 2 with a FG or if it would’ve went to OT or what. As the great philosopher Cam Newton once said “hindsight is 50-50”. Haha. Kirk was feeling a little frisky as it was, going for a 3rd qrt TD on 4th down from the P04 rather than settling for the FG which would’ve pulled them within 8. PU 434-393 (6.9-5.7) yard edge with lots of big plays for Boilers. Both teams were 50% 3rd down. PU was 2-of-2 4th down. Ferentz on some questionable penalties when they had the ball up 1 late in the game: “We go 55 minutes without a holding call….We got two of them there. It’s unfortunate.” On one of the aforementioned failed 2pt tries, primary target Fant was clearly held for a no call, and a no good conversion, but refs threw the controversial PI on PU’s final drive.

ILL RB Corbin had 72 and 77 yard TD runs and Brown added his own 72 yarder and Smalling got a 67y TD reception as part of a big ILL offensive day, 646 total yards with 430y rushing (most in 8 years)! Corbin finished 13att-213. Minny did have 438 yards (152y on final two drives) with two big 61 and 86y TDs of their own in the 4th qrt. The game was just 24-17 HT before ILL scored 3 straight TDs to open the 2nd H. 55-31 F. Most pts for ILL in B1G game in 8 years.

“When you said Don Brown, you said it all”. This Michigan D is much better than Harbaugh's singing voice. For 58 minutes and 1 second Michigan’s D was shutting out Penn St and held them to 186 yards who came into the game averaging 459. PSU was limited to 68 rushing yards, they had negative 6 at HT. Prior to their last drive of the game PSU ran just 6 plays in Mich territory. Nits went 11p 75y scoring with 1:59 to avoid the shut out. 42-7. McSorley 5-13-83-0-1, Stevens 3-4-35-0-1 (leading rusher 52y w/ TD). - Patterson 11-17-144-2-0. Higdon 20att-132-TD. Mich D 5 sacks and a pick-six. Tarik Black had a 4th qrt TD called back. Mich gained 403 (5.8) and their 57% 3rd down conversion rate was the second best of the year.

Big Xll

Oklahoma State had more penalty yards, 133 (on 12 fouls) then RB Justice Hill had rushing yards, 119 (on 18att). OSU outgained BU 523-402 (5.9-6.2), but the penalties hurt as BU was awarded 8 FDs by OSU penalties. BU led 14-10 HT although OSU outgained them by 73y. BU’s first two drives netted 135y but ended in missed a 26y FG and an INT in the EZ. In the windy conditions, OSU missed a FG plus had one blk’d and did make one from the B02. OSU also blk’d a punt for TD. Both teams opted for more 4th down attempts in the 2nd H. BU was SOD at the O20, OSU ran a 4th down trick play throwback to Corndog that led to a TD and a 24-14 lead. BU responded with a 75y TD run. 24-21. OSU converted 4th down again on their way to 31-21 lead mid 4th. BU answered…31-28. OSU faced a 4th-and-2 1:37 left at the B36. Rather than punting or giving the ball to Hill or attempting a short pass, OSU called a naked boot and Corndog was tackled for a 9y loss setting BU up at midfield 1-1/2 min to go. BU got a D PI call down to the O08 and two plays later found Mims on a 6y TD pass…35-31. McClendon started, but Brewer came off the bench.

Off the TCU upset win, Kansas played in front of maybe a half filled stadium comprised of many ISU fans, by halftime it turned into an Iowa State home game. 27-3 Clones. FDs were even at 20 and ISU only outgained them 394-332 (6.4-4.0). KU was SOD at I27 and fumbled at I24 after a pair of 50y drives in the 1st H. Later KU was SOD at I30, I01 and I07 on their 3 final possessions. ISU missed a FG and kicked one from the K05.

Kansas State is usually the kind of team that needs to win games with special teams, vs TCU they contributed to the loss. KSt muffed a punt leading to a short field TCU TD. QB Thompson was injured late 1st qrt and did not return. Delton finished who hadn’t played since 9/29 (finished 15-25-155-1-0, 23att-36y net rushing w/ sneak TD). With the game tied at 7-7, at the T09 KSt had bad snap on a FGA, the holder tried making something out of nothing and threw INT in the EZ. Reagor put TCU up on a 67y TD, KSt appeared to tie, but the xpt was missed leaving the game 14-13 9min left which would be the final (KSt SOD at T43 final drive). KSt out-gained and out-first downed TCU 301-275 (4.0-4.7) and 21-13. KSt -2 TO margin.

West Virginia – Texas has 12 lead changes, 8 in the 1st H. FDs even 28 each, TY for WVU 578-520 (7.7-6.9). WVU ran for 232 (7.0 ypc). Horns were 166 (4.3) on the ground. Both teams were 58-54% 3rd down. WVU played most of the game without AA OT Cajuste who was ejected for something on an xpt. Refs called game very tight. UT was SOD at the W05 after having 1st-and-goal opening drive of the 3rd qrt, ruled 1st down on the field, but when replay looked at it since QB’s helmet came off the ball is dead at that point. That empty possession so deep into WVU territory proved very costly. Texas scored on 8 of their 10 drives of the game excluding a 2p 4y and 2p 2y end of half possessions (punt and SOD). WVU scored on 7 of 10 drives, being SOD at T20 and two punts. WVU was penalized 14x for 120y, two of which were for horns down sign that they had believed from pregame conversation would not be called a penalty. Holgerson said “well we can give them another sign with our right hand, kind of looks like the state of West Virginia”.

Oklahoma threw two 1st qrt INTs and Texas Tech led 14-0 off just 28y of offense. OU came back to lead 28-24 before TT went up 31-28 right before HT. Unfortunately for TT, QB Bowman did not return for the 2nd H and has since been learned he was taken to the hospital related to a collapsed lung (suffered collapsed lung vs wvu). TT avg’d 7.6 ypp in the 1st H with Bowman and just 5.2 in the 2nd H with Duffey. OU started stretching a lead out in the 2nd H, TT would come back a little and OU would score again…35-31, 35-34, 42-34, 42-40, 44-40, 51-40, 51-46 F. QB Murray didn’t have his best game, OU leaned on Trey Sermon who had 26att-206-3TD. OU had 32-23 FD, 683-473 TY (8.6-6.7) edges. OU was called for 10 penalties 113y with many D PI.

CUSA

MTSU wins 29-10 and outgains WKU 474-379 (5.4-5.3) with 27-17 FD edge. WKU was -2 TOs and Hilltopper QBs passed for just 16-47-270-1-1. After 1st and 2nd qrt TDs, MTSU kicked FGs from the 25, 22, 06, 11 and 13 yard lines. WKU was SOD at the M28, fumbled at the M22, had a FG blk’d from the M20 and were SOD a the W36. MT RB Chaton Mobley ran for 25att-198, 70 more yards than he had in all prior games combined. Stockstill 24-42-228-2-0.

UTEP snaps the longest active losing streak of 20 games. UTEP led 27-3 HT and 34-3 before Rice scored the final 23 pts in tte last 1+ qrt. UTEP had 410-383 yard edge (5.9-6.4) and 60-23% 3rd down. Rice lost 3 TOs one leading to a short field TD for UTEP, Miners lost 2 TOs. Rice was also SOD at UT10 after a 65y drive. Rice passed for their first 300y+ game since 2015 with two 100y receivers!

UAB set school records in total yards 668 and rushing yards 419 in their 52-3 win over UTSA. Blazers have allowed a total of 38 pts in 6 CUSA games this year holding their opponents scoreless in 19 of 24 quarters. They scored on their first 6 possessions including one after a blk’d punt. UTSA only managed 220 total yards with 105 coming on their final two possessions.

FAU won the Shula Bowl 49-14 turning it into a blowout after leading just 14-7 HT. FAU replaced Robison at QB with DeAndre Johnson of Last Chance U fame who sparked the O and went 4-6-67-2-0 and rushed 7att-50y. Singletary had 27att-184-3TD with Whyte adding 17att-165-TD. FIU fumbled at the FAU02 early in the game and was SOD at the FAU21 and later SOD at FAU31. FIU also threw INTs on back-to-back 4th qrt drives in their own territory that FAU turned into short field TDs (3p 35y and 6p 49y drives). FAU also turned it over on downs twice, at the FIU22 and own 29 which led to a short field TD for the Panthers. FAU missed a FG. FAU had 31-19 FD and 596-330 TY edges (7.8-4.9) including a 439-96 (7.3-2.9) RY edge.

Marshall outgained Southern Miss 249-222 (4.2-3.2), but lost 24-26. MU lost 4 TOs to SM’s 2. Both teams got scoop-and-score fumble return TDs (8y and 17y returns). The MU TOs both handed SM pts and kept MU pts off the board. In addition to the fumble return TD, SM got 10 more pts off just 49y of O following 2 TOs, one of which an INT that was thrown from the SM35 to the 5 and returned 49y. Late in the game MU’s 4th TO, was a fumble at the SM04 at the end of a 59y drive. Only one of SM’s two TOs really had an impact on the game. Each team kicked a FG from inside the 10 yard line. MU was 38% 3rd down, SM just 19%. SM started Fr Tate Whatley at QB for injured starter Abraham. He went 16-25-134-2-0, leading rusher 25att 40y net. Green and Thomson both played for MU, they combined for just 17-38-218-1-2 (sacked 3x). MU was held to just 31 RY (1.4), SM just 88 RY (2.0).

Independents

Army opened with an incredible 21p 75y drive for TD that took 13min off the clock! (4-of-5 3rd down, 1-of-1 4th down). AF got to the AR36, but a false start and 4y loss saw them punt from the AR45. Army went 3-and-out. AF faced 4th-and-2 from the AR45, but decided to punt instead of going for it. Army drove 11p 89y in nearly 7min converted 4th down once and went up 14-0 with 4min left in the half. AF drove for 1st down at AR14, but a chop block moved them back and they threw a 2nd down INT at the AR04 with :46 left. 14-0 with Army having a 209-110 (5.6-6.4) yard edge and 22-8 min TOP. AF QB Sanders went 5-7-77-0-1 with 21y rushing in the 1st H, but AF opted to switch to Hammond to open the 3rd. AF had a 1st down at the AR42, but would lose 4y and punt. Army went 3-and-out. AF’s next possession was SOD at the AR31. Army went 3-and-out. AF finally got on the board with :54 left in the qrt, but missed the xpt…14-6. Army came out with a 9y completion, but then ran 12x and aided by a 15y penalty kicked a 30y FG…17-6. AF quickly went 10p 75y, 2pt good…17-14 5-1/2min left. AF forced a punt with 3min left and got to the AR38 3rd-and-1, but lost 2y then were SOD. Army faced a 4th-and-1 with :17 left. Jeff Monken grabbed his balls and went for it at his own 49 with a QB sneak, converted and ended the game. FDs even 17-16, AF had 322-286 TY edge (5.6-4.5). AF QBs combined 12-22-197-0-1 passing. Army was 50% 3rd down and a perfect 3-of-3 on 4th down. AF was just 33% 3rd and 1-of-3 on 4th down. Big game for FB Woolfork 21att-117-TD (long 52 which came on 4th down). The oldest of the AF Falcon live mascots was injured by an Army prank.

UMass and Liberty had 10 lead changes in regulation. UMass never led by more than one score in the 1st H and the game was tied 24-24 HT. A UMass TD was the only score of the 3rd qrt. The teams would trade TDs in the 4th qrt, but a UMass fumble allowed LU to go up by 14 off a 4y “drive” with 6:42 left. After cutting it to 7, UMass D was able to force a punt with 2:46 left and tied with just :25 left in the 4th. Each team scored TDs in the first two OTs. LU threw an INT in the EZ top of the 3rd OT and UMass won it on a 22y FG. UMass racked up a school record 777 total yards (7.9) to LU’s 488 (5.7). UMass WR Andy Isabella put up a school record 303 receiving yards on just 9 receptions in his final game at McGuirk (broke Victor Cruz’s record of 262). Comis was 29-44-540-4-1 with 22att and 82y net rushing 2 TDs (sacked 7x).

Notre Dame fumbled on their opening possession, but NW missed a FG and ND went 14p 79y converting a 4th-and-2 along the way for TD. NW punted then ND missed a FG after having 1st-and-goal at the NW10 (O PI and tkl’d for loss backing them up). NW took that 18p 73y converting a 4th-and-5 along the way to tie the game 7-7 mid 2nd qrt. The rest of the half was punts, NW was trying for some final pts, but Throson was sacked from the ND40. NW only gained 32y on their first 3 drives of the 3rd qrt all ending in punts while ND scored 17 unanswered pts. 24-7 early 4th. NW cut it to 24-14, then blk’d a punt and scored on a 4th down QB sneak 5p later…24-21 7min left. A holding penalty backed up ND on the ensuing KO but ND went 10p 89y scoring a TD with 2:45 left. NW was SOD on their own 32 to effectively end the game. ND had 25-16 FD and 464-249 TY (6.3-3.6) edges. ND was held to just 121 RY (3.0), Book and Williams each ran for 56y, Book’s ypc was 5.1. Book 22-34-343-2-0. - Thorson 16-29-141-1-0. ND D got 5 sacks. ND was called for 8 penalties 58y, NW was not penalized in the game.

New Mexico State led by as many as 4 TDs, 35-7 late 2nd qrt, but Alcorn St got a 50y hailmary right before HT and would actually get within 3, 38-35 early 4th qrt before NMSt pulled away again 52-35. Northern Illinois played their best offensive game of the year, but Akron’s Kato Nelson was up for it as well. In an unexpectedly high scoring game; NIU had three TD and a FG off of long drives (also missed FG) while Akron had long TD and FG drives themselves (also missed FG). 24-10 HT. NIU would come out in the 3rd and drive for a FG, but then would struggle with 3-and-out punt, fumble, punt, punt. Akron kicked their second FG from the N10 or less then scored TD and an 8y TD "drive" after the NIU fumble to get within 29-26 (xpt blk’d and returned the other way). Colorado was without WR Laviska Shenault and then lost second leading receiver KD Nixon in the 1st qrt and then lost MacIntyre in the 2nd qrt, leaving CU without 3 of their top 5 WRs. The receiving unit ended up being the least of CU’s problems, starting 3 Fr OL was though as Montez was hit often and running for his life at times. And a D that allowed a Khalil Tate season highs through the air. CU did open with a punt ret to the A14, but would be SOD to start the game at the A08. CU still went up 10-0 as it took a bit for UA to get going until they started hitting some big plays and scored 17 unanswered…17-10. They traded TDs in a 3min span with UA getting one and CU getting two…24-23 Buffs with :25 left. CU had a somewhat short KO and allowed a 28y return, then UA got two decent plays setting them up for a 55y FG to give them the 26-24 HT lead. UA had a 307-232 1st H yard edge. CU converted 3rd down 3x then got a D PI on 3rd down to keep a TD drive alive and retook a 31-26 lead. UA scored the next 10 pts until tFr walk-on CU backup K made a 48 yarder to make it 35-34 Zona end of 3rd. UA added a 57y TD pass….42-34 then CU was SOD at the A29. CU D got an INT, but a scrambling Montez through a reckless INT at the goal line 5min left. On 3rd-and-9 from their own 2, Taylor made an incredible 15y run where he used a crawling effort to balance himself for the necessary FD yardage. UA killed the final 5min. UA had a 566-383 TY edge (8.2-5.1) including 216-40 RY (4.6-1.2), 64-40% 3rd down. Zona D got 5 sacks. Tate 17-22-350-5-1, 15y net with a key 25y run. Taylor 40att-192. Schooler 3tfl – Montez 27-42-343-3-1. Winfree 8rec-101.

Arizona St had a drive stall at the Utah 15, but a targeting penalty gave ASU a new set of downs and they scored two plays later. Huntley escaped pressure and threw a bomb to the goal line which bounced off the receiver for an INT that was ret’d 47y! ASU took that for a TD and led 14-0. Shortly after Utah settled in and felt like the better team for the next 1+ qrt. Utah went 10p 75y TD, 5p 21y FG, 11p 80y TD and led 17-14. ASU had missed a 37y FG. Wilkins ran for 16y on 3rd down and two plays later connected with Harry for a 23y TD and retook the 21-17 lead at HT. Huntley threw an INT to open the 3rd. ASU had a FD at the U19, but was called for O PI and next play threw an INT. Huntley was knocked out of the game on a 3rd down incompletion and it was later learned he broke his collarbone. Shelley did lead Utah on a 8p 49y drive for 31y FG to make the game 21-20, but Utes would struggle in the 4th qrt to move the ball. ASU would score the final 17 pts on long drives. 38-20 F. 25-17 FD, 536-325 TY (7.2-5.6) edges for ASU including a 251-178 RY edge (5.0-5.6). ASU D got 3 sacks, Utah 0. Wilkins 19-24-285-3-1, 24y net rushing. Benjamin 27att-175-2TD. Harry 9rec-161-3TD. - Huntley 7-15-88-1-2,42y net rushing. Shelley 4-11-59-0-1. Moss 18att-128-TD.

Oregon got on the board first with a 56y punt ret TD. UCLA had FD at the O14, but threw INT in the EZ. Oregon took that to the UCLA29 where Ducks faked a FG and got a 28y TD pass…14-0. UCLA got as far as the O40, but would punt. UCLA muffed a punt at their own 11 and Ore scored 3 plays later…21-0. UCLA got on the board with a 63y TD pass mid 2nd qrt. Ore would miss a 21y FG and UCLA would miss a 56y FG end of the half…21-7 HT with only one of the Ducks TDs coming by way of offense and that one TD was an 11y “drive”. Ore had failed to convert 3rd-and-1 and 4th-and-1 rushes on their first drive of the 3rd. Duck D got a spark on a sack/fumble that DTR never saw coming (injured did not return) handing the ball to Duck O again on a silver platter at the UCLA7. 4 plays later it was 28-7 mid 3rd. Speight came in and UCLA went 9p 75y to make it 28-14. Ore converted 4th-and-3 at the UCLA35 and ran a reverse for TD, but it was called back for a blind-side block targeting penalty, Ducks would punt. UCLA had a bad FG snap and two plays later Ore got a 67y TD pass…35-14. Speight went 4-of-4 next drive with some chunk plays for another UCLA TD…35-21 mid 4th. Brooks-James ripped a 54y TD for Ore…42-21. UCLA scored a TD with 2min left but it was called back by O PI and Bruins were then SOD. UCLA actually had 29-20 FD and 496-492 TY edge (5.7-6.6). RY even 199-200. Ore only got 1 sack, but were credited with 11qbh. UCLA called for 11penalties 64y, Ducks penalized just once. Herbert 18-32-264-2-0. Verdell 25-90-TD (doesn’t appear 100%). Washington scored on 3 of 5 1st H possessions and led 21-0 HT with a 225-153 yard edge including a 97-11 RY edge. Stanford threw back-to-back INTs in the 2nd qrt including one after the best drive of the half driving to the W21, a pass was tipped and INT’d by Greg Gaines for his first INT of his career. UW went 3-and-out on 3 of their first 5 possessions of the 2nd H and kicked FGs from the S05 and S21. Stan went 8p 61y, 6p 67y, 6p 80y (xpt no good) for TDs and 5p 30y for FG….23-27. UW went 4-and-out on their final drive only killing 1:19 off the clock and Stanford had a chance with 2min left at their own 15 no timeouts. Costello got them to the W34 :11 left. Their final 2 passes were incomplete and an underthrown INT in the EZ. Stan finished the game with 22-19 FD and 424-371 TY (6.3-5.2) edges. UW had 177-77 RY edge (3.9-3.3). Stanford was 50% 3rd down, UW just 4 of 14. Browning 16-27-194-1-0. Gaskin 28att-148-TD. - Costello 29-43-347-2-3. Love 18att-71-TD. Kaden Smith 8att-107-TD. Arcega-Whiteside was injured.

USC opened up 21-0 off a 17p 86y drive, 57y TD run and 41y TD pass. Oregon State missed a FG then scored back-to-back TDs to close the 1st H. 21-14. SC had a 298-211 yard edge. SC got a 29y reception to start the 3rd on their way to a 28-14 lead. OSU had a TD drive kept alive by a personal foul on 3rd down (two 15y SC penalties on drive)…28-21. Punts. Near the end of the 3rd, OSU had a 1st down at the SC21 but would be SOD on 4th-and-5. SC RB was stripped and OSU would’ve got a scoop-and-score, but they blew the play dead on the field. It took replay review to award OSU the ball, but OSU was again SOD. Next play SC ripped a 62y TD run…35-21 12min left. OSU had to punt on 4th-and-15 from their own 30 and SC converted a 3rd-and-14 with a 17y run and added a 46y FG…38-21. OSU got to the SC41 but ran out of time. 38-21 F. FD even 25-24. USC had 509-332 TY edge (7.3-4.3) including 332-31 RY (7.5-1.0). SC 70% 3rd down, OSU 50%, but just 1-of-3 4th down. SC D got 6 sacks. Daniels 14-26-177-1-0. Ware 17att-205-3TD. Malepeai 15att-101. Washington State had 413-291 TY edge (6.3-4.2). Cal’s D played well in limiting WSU to FGs from the C12 and C19. WSU also missed a FG from the C13. Cougs were SOD at the C34. Otherwise WSU only found the EZ once before their game winning TD with :27 left. It was 13-10 Cougs HT as Cal’s O struggled as well. WSU had 239-117 1st H yardage edge. Cal’s only TD was set up off a short field INT and Cal made and missed a FG. WSU was on their way to a pick-six, but fumbled at the 3 into the EZ. WSU punted on their first two real possessions of the 2nd H (not counting the exchange of INT and fumble on ret). Cal tied on the only pts of the 3rd qrt…13-13. Cal had a drive kept alive by roughing the passer on 3rd down incompletion. Garbers and McIlwain were in-and-out on the same drive as WSU had occasionally done and Cal moved it down to the W12 with a 1st down. Turnover-prone McIlwain threw and INT in the EZ on 1st down ruining Cal’s best chance at taking the lead. WSU drove for 1st down at the C15, but would miss a 30y FG with 3:31 left. Cal went 3-and-out with 2 incompletions giving WSU the ball back with plenty of time. Not surprisingly WSU went 6p 69y in 2min for a 10y TD…bad snap/hold on the xpt so the lead was just 19-13. Cal could do nothing with just :27 left - Wazzou wins. Minshew 35-51-334-1-1 - Garbers 15-26-127-1-1, leading rusher 11att-67. McIlwain 3-7-52-0-1. Laird 18att-40. WR Noa DNP. WSU D had 10tfl with 5 sacks.

Both teams punted with minimal yardage gained until AU capped an 80y drive with a 3rd down TD pass 14-10 4min left 2nd qrt. A&M got several chunk plays for their TD drive that gave them the 17-14 lead at HT. A&M had 233-133 yard and 14-6 FD edge. A&M scored the only pts of the 3rd qrt and took a 24-14 lead. Ags missed a 36y FG early 4th. Auburn had only gained 16y in the 2nd H when taking out sacks until A&M gave them some life, a 3rd down out route near the sideline was INT’d and AU started at their own 29, 7min left. Stidham would go 5-of-6 and AU cut it to 24-21 5min to go. A&M was mixing run/throw and got out to the 50 when AU got a tfl, then sack and A&M was forced to punt with 2min left. AU got a 28y return and started at their own 42. It only took two plays for AU to score, a short pass that went for a 47y completion and 11y TD pass in :29 seconds and Tigers had their first lead 28-24. A&M got to midfield and threw towards the EZ out of bounds time expired, but replay determined there was :01 left. Teams came back out onto the field and Mond was sacked to end the game. A&M had 28-13 FD, 421-278 TY (5.3-5.5) including 201-19 RY (4.3-.9) edges. AU D got 5 sacks and 12tfl. A&M D 3 sacks. Stidham 18-29-239-2-0. Whitlow 8att-16.
