27-24 FSU jumped out 14-0 early as Eric Dungey was injured on the 5th play, went to the locker room and was able to return on Cuse second possession of the 2nd qrt. He threw a 47y TD pass on 4th-and-2 thanks to a blown coverage. But FSU got their third 50-60y TD of the day to go back up by 14. Dungey hit Ishmael on a 34y TD pass. 21-14 FSU. FSU fumbled a punt setting Syr up at the F11 w/ 1m left. After gaining just 7y Syr opted to go for it on 4th instead of FGA from the F4 and were SOD to end the half. They traded FGs in the 3rd. Syr SOD at midfield and FSU had 1st down at the 19, but kicked 38y FG. 27-17. Syr would go on 14p 75y drive converting 3rd down 3x for TD with 3m left. 27-24. FSU recovered the onside kick, but went 3-and-out. Syr worked down the field 10p 57y in 1-1/2 m to the F25, but their FGA was missed (Syr 1-3 FG, had a 1st qrt att blk’d). 21-13 FD, 463-343 (4.9-6.1) TY for Syr. Ishmael and Philips each topped 100y on 12 catches each. Derwin James credited with 4 pbu.

40-36 Virginia wins in a rainy crazy game. UVA got a 36y FG thanks to a great opening KO ret. The rest of the 1st qrt was all about punts til GT hit a 49y pass enroute to 7-3 lead. GT attempted an onside kick, again setting UVA up with great field position which they converted for 23y FG. UVA’s two scoring drives covered just 54y. 7-6 GT. GT blk’d a punt, but had to punt back. UVA fumbled and 4p 14y later GT had 14-6 lead. But UVA would ret the KO 92y for TD! 14-13 HT. On the opening play of the 3rd Marshall ripped a 78y TD run then on UVA’s first play GT got a 27y pick-six and led 28-13 :35 into the half! UVA responded with a 8p 78y TD drive and then Marshall threw INT and UVA had a TD 2 plays later, 2pt good. 28-28 less than 5m into the 3rd! The 4th qrt would be just as wild. UVA made 33y FG 31-28...then got another INT, although they punted which was downed at the G3. GT fumbled and fell on it in the EZ for safety. 33-28. GT took the lead back on a 33y Jeune TD catch with 4m left (2pt good). 36-33. UVA wasted no time, scoring on a 27y TD pass. 40-36. GT LB Jordan-Swilling 11 tkl, tfl, forced fumble, fumble recovery, INT, TD.

38-31 Clemson wins a tough one. CU threw INT on 3rd play and NCSt got 40y TD pass on 3rd-and-10. 7-0. CU tied it with a zig-zagging 77y punt ret, but NCSt came right back with a long TD drive. 14-7. CU converted 3rd down 2x and a 4th down on their way to a 12p 71y tying TD drive. 14-14. Another long NCSt TD drive made it 21-14 before CU came right back with a 26y FG. 21-17. Each team missed FGs before HT. CU kept NCSt pinned deep in the 3rd which paid off on a 49y TD drive for a 24-21 CU lead. Feaster then broke a 89y TD run for 31-21 Tigers end of 3rd. NCSt got back on track with a 6p 65y TD drive to cut it to 3. But Finley would throw INT leading to short CU TD drive. 34-24 mid 4th. NCSt drove to the C9 with a first down, but had to settle for 22y FG with under 2m left CU recovered the onside kick. Bryant gained 7, then went backwards twice and CU punted with 1-1/2 left. NCSt started on their own 20 with no timeouts. They made it to the C28 and faced a 4th-and-10 with :27 left. Finley connected to about the C10, but after Finley audibled NCSt WRs were not set when the ball was snapped so illegal shift negated the play. On 4th-and-15 their final pass was INT’d which the CU player tried to return getting to the NC36. 27-19 FD and 491-415 (5.8-5.7) TY edges for NCSt. CU was 7 of 16 3rd down, NCSt just 3 of 13. Doren was bitter about the penalty disparity (6-69 to 3-23) and alleged CU was using a laptop on their sideline for a "technology advantage" - which is supposedly illegal per ACC rules. NCSt player said post game “we knew the refs would be against us”. The final illegal shift penalty was clear and correctly called. Bryant 20-38-191-1-1, 88RY 2TD. Feaster 7-105 (89 on 1 play). Cain 9-84-TD. Finley 31-50-338-3-2. Harmon & Meyers comb’d 17-260-2TD. CU DL Ferrell 12 tkl, 5 TFL with sack.

48-37 Notre Dame was up comfortably before WF made it look closer. Irish 710 yards were 10 away from nearly 50 year school record (had the record before taking knees at the end). It was fairly close early with ND using short fields from KO ret and INT to lead 17-10. But 31-10 HT and later led 42-16. WF gained 352y on their final 5 drives scoring 4 TDs. 34-30 FD for WF – 710-587 (8.5-6.7) TY for ND with 380 RY and 330 PY. Wimbush 15-30-280-1-0 leading rusher 12-110. WR Claypool 9-180-TD. Adams just 5-22. Kelly said Adams wasn’t feeling 100% coming in (not injury related) and they were cautious with his workload. Wolford 28-45-331-2-1, added 59 RY TD. WR Bachman 8-116-TD. Colbum 20-120-TD.

28-10 Miami forced 4 turnovers and kept pressure on Jackson often while Hokie receivers struggled to get open. VT didn’t cross midfield until their 4th drive while UM was building a 14-0 lead, VT got on the board. 14-3 HT. Each team had an empty RZ drive in the first half with UM SOD at V5 and VT fumbled at the M14 (was after getting Rosier INT to start drive). Rosier opened the 3rd with back-to-back INTs. VT turned the first into a TD 14-10, but were SOD on 4th-and-2 when a mistimed snap hit a in-motion Hokie turning the ball back over. A controversial play happened after what should’ve been 3rd down, but VT hit Rosier who was carrying out a hand-off fake, VT D hit the QB who probably didn’t know who had the ball and refs called a 15y personal foul. Next play UM hit a 43y TD to the TE for a 21-10 score. It may not have mattered as VT’s shortcomings in other areas were difficult for them to overcome. VT didn’t sustain any 2nd H drives until their final possession which ended at the M14 with :08 left. 22-21 FD for VT – 429-299 (7.4-4.0) TY for UM. UM 38-21% 3rd down and sacked Jackson 4x, VT D got 2 sacks. Rosier 10-21-193-2-3, 84 RY, TD. Homer 14-95-TD (long 64). Jackson 20-32-192-0-2. McMillian 15-52. Cam Phillips 7-101.

BU enjoyed good field position throughout the second half because of KU struggles and added 17pts on mostly short fields. 20-15 FD and 455-289 (6.6-4.2) TY for BU. BU 7 of 16 to KU 3 of 16 3rd down. Brewer 23-29-315-3-0. Williams 23-62-TD. Mims 5-122. Carter 17-33-155-0-1. Herbert 10-71 (long 43). Sims 7-42. KU D did have 9 TFL.

42-35 Kansas St comes back with Skylar Thompson at QB replacing Alex Delton who was injured for the second straight week. KS had 10-0 lead and 17-14 HT. TT took a 21-17 lead, but KS got 25y pick-six to go back on top. 24-21 Cats. Two long drives for TT made it 35-24 early 4th. KS kicked 30y FG with 9m left....35-27... and then TT missed a key 31y FG with 3-1/2 left. KS connected on a 54y pass to the T26, PI moved the ball to the T8 and some of the tightest formation QB sneaks you ever saw resulted in a TD with :42 left – 2 pt conv pass good. 35-35. TT opted to take a knee with 1 timeout and :42 left (Kingsbury expressed hesitation with even attempting a FG that direction due to wind and prior issues this game/ssn). Seems questionable he would waste a potential scoring possession and risk OT. In OT KS got a TD pass and TT was SOD with 3 of their final 4 passes being incomplete. Raiders had 527-408 (6.3-6.4) TY. Delton 13-20-167-1-1, 23y rushing prior to injury. Thompson 5-8-96-1-0 (Sacked 2x). Barnes 10-45. Pringle 6-95-2TD, Schoen 5-103. Shimonek 34-53-405-4-1. King 16-71. Coutee 12-189-2TD. Bill Snyder spoke very highly of the job Thompson did, even though he was just 5 of 8, the 5 he connected on were great throws and critical (did have a 37y TD pass called back on a drive they punted).

20-16 West Virginia jumped out 20-0 lead, while ISU O struggled not crossing midfield on their first 4 drives, 20-3 HT. ISU came out with a TD then two drives for FG to trail by 4 (FGs kicked from the 1 and 7 yard lines!). WV was about to ice the game, but threw INT in EZ with 5m left. ISU couldn’t advance and was SOD and WV killed the clock. In addition to the INT in the EZ, WV was previously SOD at I34, missed FG from the I17 and ended the game at the I18. 524-350 (7.3-5.1) TY for WV. Grier 20-25-316-2-1, 28 rushing. Crawford 25-102. WR White 4-167-TD. Kempt 27-40-249-1-1. Montgomery 26-115.

62-52 Oklahoma – the 114 pts were the highest in the series featuring 1400+ yards. It was tied 38-38 HT with each team scoring on 6 of 8 first half possessions apiece. The second quarter had 52 pts and 540 yards! OSU fumbled in the 3rd at their own 10 leading to a OU FG. The next OSU possession was INT’d in the EZ. Those two empty possessions allowed OU to take a 10 pt lead. OU extended to 10 twice in the 4th and OSU cut it to 3 twice. Mayfield threw INT in the EZ with 3m left giving OSU some life. OSU faced 3rd-and-20, but lost an INT on a deflection, however OU was called for targeting on the receiver before the INT giving the Cowboys a second chance. They faced 4th-and-8 with 1m left and Rudolph elected to take a deep shot and for the first time probably all game, overthrew the receiver near the goal line. OU running out the clock busted a 53y TD run for the final margin. TY 785-661 (10.3-7.5) for OU – most yards ever all’d OSU history. OSU lost 3 TOs, OU lost 2. OSU D got 5 sacks, OU D 2. Mayfield 24-36-598-5-2. Anderson 21-111-TD, Sermon 10-81-TD. Marquise Brown 9-265-2TD. Mark Andrews 3-102. Rudolph 28-54-448-5-2. Hill 30-228-2TD. Washington 7-128-TD. I believe OU CB Jordan Thomas left the game injured and did not return.

24-7 TCU opened with a 7-0 lead aided by two Tex 15y personal foul penalties, TCU went for 4th-and-1 at the Tex21 on the drive. Tex’s MVP could be P Dickson pinning TCU deep several times as he has consistently done all season. TCU did drive 16p 84y, but Tex D forced a FG from the 1. 10-0. Tex had their best drive f the game in the 2nd qrt and moved into TCU territory for the first time leading to a 47y FGA (short). TCU took that drive 70y for a 17-0 lead. Tex hit a 33y TD pass to trail 7-17 HT. TCU had a 240-181 yard edge at HT. Neither O could do anything in the second half. In the 4th TCU converted 4th-and-1 for a 31y TD run and 24-7 lead. Tex best chance to score in the second half was SOD at TC35. 17-14 FD and 343-263 (4.7-3.8) TY for TCU. TCU D had 7 sacks and 12 TFL. Hill 18-26-146-0-0 (sacked 2x), rushed for 43y. Anderson 18-99-TD. Buechele 21-44-1-0. Leading Tex rusher was Young with just 31y.

35-28 Central Michigan completes improbable comeback! WM was in control of the game with a 21-7 HT lead on a cold rainy night. WM had 259-91 yard edge in the first half! CM was aided by a facemask penalty on their opening drive of the 3rd and got a TD. 21-14. CM would muff a punt leading to a short WM TD drive. 28-14. WM would then fumble at the C4 and later fumble at their own 43 leading to a 29y CM rushing TD. 28-21 in the 4th. WM was sacked and punted, but CM popped a 35y run and 2 plays later tied the game mid 4th! CM kicked a line drive kick which hit a WM player at the 50 and CM fell on it, although Chips QB punted after pretending to go for it on 4th-and-1. WM punted it back and CM hit a 77y TD pass with 2-1/2 left for the 35-28 lead. WM drove as far as the C42, but suffered some dropped passes and SOD. TY 409-357 (6.3-5.0) for CM. 30-25 FAU looked sharp early jumping out 14-0 early off a 74y drive and 19y “drive” following INT ret. FAU would later add a FG off another Herd INT. Mar drove and missed a 31y FG and made a 28y FG. 16-3 HT. Mar actually had 11-10 FD and only a 202-209 TY deficit at half, but –2TOs and missed FG, but were 67-43% 3rd down. Mar opened the 3rd with a TD drive, then recovered an onside kick, scoring a second TD but missed the xpt so tied 16-16. FAU was cold and went 3-and-out, but Mar couldn’t keep their momentum and punted. FAU did a reverse throwback and found Singletary wide open for 60y TD reception to go back ontop 23-16. Traded punts, then Mar threw their 3rd INT at the M41 and with 6 straight runs FAU had a 30-16 lead early 4th. Heavy rain now. Mar faked a punt at their own 33, Mar drive was kept alive by PI on 4th down. Then on 4th-and-10 from the F15 Litton found TE Yurachek diving in the EZ for a TD. 30-23. Mar D forced a punt getting the ball back with 3m left. Mar threw their 4th INT and the game appeared over with 2-1/2m left and no Herd timeouts. FAU started taking knees and after 2nd down Kiffin appeared to realize they couldn’t completely run the clock out. After a 3rd kneal down, FAU called timeout at their own 24 with :14 left and told the punter to run out of the EZ for a safety. Only problem is he ran straight back and only used :06 (instead of killing more time running around in the EZ potentially). So FAU had to KO from their own 25. The ball was fielded at midfield and had Mar fallen down they would’ve had one hailmary att, but instead they lateralled around until the ball was finally dead. 21-17 FD and 381-353 (4.8-5.6) TY edges for Mar. Driskel 11-17-104-0-0 (WR threw the 60y TD pass). Singletary 28-203-TD. Litton 20-39-253-2-4. King 22-72. Brady 8-82, Williams 4-122.

31-17 Vanderbilt and WKU traded TDs throughout the first half. VU had 21-14 HT lead with 277-191y edge. WKU opened the 3rd with a 17p 63y FG drive..21-17 while VU punted then muffed a punt. WKU was SOD at the V35 and two plays later VU got a 45y TD run. 28-17. VU added FG early 4th and WKU was SOD at V20 and INT’d at V7 on their final two drives. FD 22-19 edge for WKU, TY 394-349 (7.0-4.2) for VU. Shurmur 14-21-220-2-0. Webb 23-104-TD. White 31-50-324-0-0. WKU Leading rusher had just 19y. WR Jackson 7-135. VU D had 6 sacks and 12 TFL. WKU 8 of 21 3rd down, VU 5 of 11.

52-21 UAB had it rolling scoring TDs on their first SEVEN possessions including a 1p 9y “drive” following INT and also a pick-six on D. 42-7 HT. Rice did punt from U39, fum at U34 and end the half at the U6. They also had a 36y TD called back then punted. Rice gained 149y on their final two drives scoring TDs on each. Rice finished with 463-439 (7.8-7.7) TY, but was –3 TOs. AJ Erdely 20-21-197-3-0 (CUSA record compl %). RB Brown 17-140-3TD. Rice Glaesmann started, but threw an INT and was benched early. Smalls 14-22-227-1-1, leading rusher with 99y w/ TD. Cephus 4-100-TD.

Larussa started and went 5-5-25-0-0. Williams 15-25-153-0-0, 24 rushing. Lawry 25-98. Klugh 7-16-62-0-0, 30 rushing. Lemay 12-68.

24-23 North Texas got up first 7-0, but LT converted a 4th down on their way to a FG near end of 1st qrt. 7-3. LT would again convert a 4th down enroute to a 10-7 lead. NT threw an INT in the EZ on 1st down and LT would later go up 17-7. NT took some momentum into the locker room when they starting their drive at the N25 with :39 left. Fine guided them to a 48y FG as time expired. 17-10 Tech. NT did have 15-10 FD and 209-168 TY edges, 67-38% 3rd down despite trailing. LT went 3-and-out and NT tied 17-17. LT responded with a 37y FG and would later add a 35y FG early in the 4th. 23-17. NT converted a 4th-and-1 at their own 31 and went on for a TD...24-23. LT missed a 53y FG and NT was able to kill the final 2-1/2m. FD 26-19 and TY 415-315 (5.3-4.6) for NT. Fine 23-37-211-1-1, 16y rushing. Wilson 20-165-2TD. Smith 16-28-168-0-0, 29 rushing. RB Scott 16-64-TD, Craft 8-30.

14-7 FIU won a defensive struggle. UTSA came in with the #11 D in the country, but it was the FIU D in the first half that held UTSA to just 98y while FIU gained 183. FIU fumbled twice in UTSA terr and UTSA missed a FG. 0-0 HT. FIU took their opening 3rd qrt drive 15p 93y for 7-0 lead. UTSA fum the KO and FIU was in the EZ 1p 18y later. 14-0. UTSA got on the board early 4th with a 75y drive, then McGough threw an INT at UTSA 31 and Roadrunners drove with a 1st-and-goal at the F2, but FIU D stuffed them 4 straight runs to hold on to the lead with 7m left. FIU went 3-and-out and UTSA took over at the F40, but 3 straight incompletions led to SOD at F26 and this time FIU was able to kill all but the final :16. UTSA got near midfield and started lateraling until the ball was finally dead. UTSA 19-18 FD, but FIU 315-261 (5.1-4.2) TY. McGough 18-25-215-2-1. FIU Leading rusher had just 45y. Owens 8-72-TD. Sturm 13-21-105-1-0 (sacked 4x), leading rusher with 82y. FIU LB Treyvon Williams had 13 tkl, 4 TFL with 2 sacks.

24-10 Tennessee got a KO ret to midfield and UT went 9p 49y for 7-0 lead and that was all the offense until SM drove 10p 77y for a 27y FG. 7-3. UT responded with a 38y FG before HT. 10-3. SM O continued to struggle and two TOs and resulting returns to the S20 and S19 led to 2 UT TDs off of just 39y of offense. 24-3. The latter TD was scored after UT kicked a FG, but a bogus “leaping” penalty was called when the SM player simply jumped straight up in the air, did not have a running start, did not land on players, or fall towards the line of scrimmage, all he did was take 1 step and jumped straight up. Hopson went nuts after the replay, was called for unsportman like conduct and UT got a free first down and later the TD. UT’s next 5 possessions gained a total of just 12y. SM did go 10p 95y for TD and was later SOD at T39. FD 18-14 and TY 279-210 (3.7-3.6) for SM. SM was 7 of 20 3rd down, UT just 2 of 13. Guarantano 9-13-102-0-0. Kelly 20-79-2TD. Howard 7-22-100-0-1, Griggs 6-11-61-0-0 (comb’d 39RY while sacked 4x). RB Smith 20-51. WR Robertson 8-122. SM was called for 14 penalties totalling 120y...UT 3 for 29y. SM D only allow’d fewer yards once this year, to UTEP so SM held the Vols 100y below their avg.

30-3 Middle Tennessee D limited UTEP to 46 first half yards, but MT O wasn’t real consistent either, but led 17-0 HT. MT got a good punt ret then a penalty helping set up a 2p 24y TD drive. 24-0. In the 4th UTEP was SOD at their own 29 and MT “drove” 5p 29y for their final TD. MT FD 18-6 and 400-137 (6.1-2.5) TY for MTSU. Stockstill returned to start for the first time since week 2 and went 13-30-190-3-1. RBs Thomas 9-68-TD and Anderson 12-68. WR Lee 6-80-TD Metz 10-23-48-0-0 (sacked 3x). Fields 17-87. 137y UTEP gained were the fewest allow’d by MT this ssn.

Great stuff as always amigo. Hopefully you allow me to satisfy my curiosity and ask you what you asked me. What path of education and work have you undertaken for yourself and how may that be related to your interest in doing this awesomely useful grindwork?

Nev only had one potential scoring drive in the second half end on an INT. Boise’s first 3 drives of the second half were TD, SOD at N12 and FG from N24. 24-17 FD and 479-302 (6.9-4.6) TY for Boise. 16-13 Wyoming - the first half rain turned to snow after halftime and had a big impact on how the game was played. CSU drove to W24 with 1st down, but had to kick 41y FG. CSU drove again into Wyo terr, but punted. Wyo had a 12p 61y drive for 25y FG. 3-3. CSU would answer 12p 75y for TD. 10-3. 52-7 San Diego St scored often, the only thing that could stop them in the first half was halftime. It was 35-0 and SJ only crossed midfield once in the half. SJ used a trick play WR throw for a 54y TD reception to open the 3rd, but Penny broke his second long TD run of the game to make it 42-7. SJ was SOD at the Aztec25 and were set up for another opportunity following SDSt fumble at the same 25, but threw an INT. No garbage pts or yards here, SJ’s final 2 drives were three-and-out. FS took their opening drive for FG and BYU responded with a TD for 13-13 tie. Into the 4th FS went 14p 88y converted 3rd down 3x and led 20-13. Tanner Mangum was injured and both teams punted. Hoge was in for BYU and he led them as far as the FS26, faced 4th-and-1 with 5-1/2 left, but were SOD. FS would punt and BYU fumbled at their own 25 with 3m left. BYU had 2 timeouts...FS picked up one first down and called timeout on 4th-and-2 at the B6 with :20 left. Great stuff as always amigo. Hopefully you allow me to satisfy my curiosity and ask you what you asked me. What path of education and work have you undertaken for yourself and how may that be related to your interest in doing this awesomely useful grindwork?

Best describe myself as an auto mechanic of sorts. I set my own hours and am selective on work. Education is trade school.

So none of that is related to this. I just love college football. This time of year I am highly unproductive in just about every other aspect in my life because I eat, sleep and breathe as much college football as I can occupy my time with. The key to all of it is a fantasy wife who allows and I think partially understands the obsession like nobody else ever would. Alot of rough years between us early on during weekends in the fall, but my consistency in what I do and her willingness to accept it have led to the best marriage I could ever have.

I get burned out every year towards the end of the season. As much as I love it I overdose and the bowl break is very necessary and I don't come back quite as interested once the bowls start. But so far life is good.

PAC12

Utah O started to get it going with a nice TD drive for 14-3 lead. UCLA’s Modster would go 3-of-3 to pull within 4 late 2nd qrt. Utah had a 1st and goal but with :07 left on 4th down settled for 25y FG. 17-10 HT Utes. UCLA would go 3-and-out 4 straight while Utah scored 3 straight TDs making it 38-10 through 3 qrt. FD 24-12 and 506-249 (7.0-5.2) TY for Utah, 50% to 25% 3rd down. Surprisingly Utah only had 1 sack (UCLA D got 2). Huntley 15-22-234-4-0, 93RY. Moss 23-153-2TD. Modster 8-12-103-1-0. Olorunfunmi 16-63.

24-21 Washington State dialed up some snow at the end of the first qrt, first time Stanford has played in snow since 1936 against Columbia in NY! SU’s first three drives only gained 31y, but WSt only gained 42 over their first three as well. Then Love broke a 52y run on the first play of the second qrt for a 7-0 lead. Love would have just 17y on 15 att outside of that run and Stan would have just 56y the rest of the first half. WSt scored back-to-back TDs to close the first half. 14-7 HT. WSt came out with a first down at the S14, but had to settle for a 41y FG. SU would drive for a TD. 17-14. SU would get a 52y pick-six for the 21-17 lead! SU’s next 4 drives would not gain a single first down and WSt drove 11p 95y for the 24-21 lead with 7m left and SU could do nothing to try and answer. WSt ended the game at the S23. FD 25-9 and 430-198 (5.6-4.2) TY for WSt, 50% to 25% third down. Falk 34-48-337-3-1 (sacked 3x). Morrow 16-66. Martin 7-67-TD. Costello 9-20-105-0-1. Love 16-69-TD. WSt D had 11 TFL.

37-23 Cal – OSU used a trick play WR screen across field throw to Nall for their 7-0 lead. Cal would score 17 straight to lead 17-7. Ore St nailed back-to-back 49y FGs for 17-13 score. With :31 left Cal kicked their own 49y FG. 20-13 HT. Cal did have 254-170y edge. Cal fumbled at the O8 to open the 3rd, but OSU went three-and-out and Cal added FG. 23-13. OSU drove for TD near end of 3rd. 23-20. Cal quickly moved down field to make it 30-20. After an OSU punt Cal added another TD early 4th. 37-20. OSU made some nice chunk plays and had 1st down at C13, but kicked 31y FG. 37-23. Cal ran out the last 6m. FD 34-18 and 475-299 (6.2-5.2) TY for Cal with 60-38% 3rd down. Bowers 24-30-259-2-0. Laird 33-214-TD. Wharton 8-121-TD. Garretson 13-25-169-0-0. Tyner leading rusher 8-41-TD. Nall 12-35, but was leading receiver with 4-54-TD. OSU LB Manase Hungalu had 20 tkl!

41-30 Arizona St started slow. CU jumped out 10-0 (also dropped a would-be 76y TD then punted) - while ASU missed FG and SOD at A49. CU was SOD at A28 and ASU would take that 6p 72y for TD. 10-7. CU scored to make it 17-7 with 1m left, but ASU had enough time to go 7p 77y for a 25y TD pass with :07 left. ASU even recovered an onside kick, but missed a 55y FG. 17-14 CU HT. Teams traded FGs. 20-17. CU hit a 54y TD pass to extend the lead to 10. The CU D was wearing out entering the 4th. ASU got a 37y FG to cut into lead. 27-20. CU then had their punt blk’d and ASU got a 40y TD drive to tie. 27-27. CU got a 60y catch and run from Lindsay to the A15, but settled for 28y FG mid 4th. 30-27. 4 rush+1pass for 75y ASU had the lead 34-30. CU could only gain one first down and punted. A 64y record breaking punt ret for Pettis opened the flood gates. Gaskin broke a 43y TD run. 17-3 HT. Ore had no O in the second H never crossing midfield while UW scored TDs on three straight drives. 19-16 FD and 451-278 (7.8-4.1) TY for UW, 54-44% 3rd down. Browning 11-19-204-2-1 as UW ran some max protect plays to allow him time on some downfield throws. Gaskin 17-123-TD. Pettis 4-87-TD. Burmeister 7-13-31-0-1 (sacked 2x – Herbert DNP). Freeman 24-122.

49-35 USC was up big, but didn’t put the Cats away. USC at times played like one of the best teams in the PAC12 and other times played sloppy and undisciplined, they had 2 sideline warnings in the first half. USC was SOD at A17 to open, but blk’d a punt for TD, then on the 3rd possession threw an INT on 2nd down from the A1 in the EZ. They faced a 4th-and-1 at their own 42 and Helton sent out the punt team, but yielded to crowd and player displeasure, called timeout and went for it and converted. USC would lead 21-6 HT. UA fumbled at the SC4 to open the 3rd, USC extended it to 28-6 mid 3rd. Then UA went 6p 75y w/ 32y Tate TD run. 28-13. USC three-and-out. UA went 5p 57y w/ 30y TD pass. 28-20. USC broke off a 42y TD run. 35-20. UA 4p 75y keyed by Tate 54y run. 35-27. USC three-and-out. UA 6p 47y, 2pt good. 35-35 mid 4th. USC easily moved down the field 7p 72y to retake the lead 42-35 with 6m left. On the first play of the UA drive Tate threw a horrible INT. SC RB Jones ripped a 52y run and they scored next play. 49-35 3m left. Tate threw another INT to end any comeback. USC finished the game at the A7 before taking knees. USC was called for 14 penalties 123y! UA just 3 for 32y. FD 30-25, 642-380 (8.2-5.1) TY for USC. Trojans played man cover zero about the whole game trying to corral Tate, it led to 5 sacks, but you can’t stop Khalil Tate, you can only hope to contain him. Darnold 20-26-311-2-1. Jones 27-194-3TD. Ware 14-122-TD. 10 SC receivers caught a pass. Tate 14-31-146-2-2, leading rusher 26-161-TD. Taylor 12-51. Brown 8-78-TD receiving.

Good job as usual SK.

I will add a note on the CSU/Wyo game. The CSU staff lost their nerve in the 4th quarter and it cost them the game. With about 6 min or so left Wyo fumbled and CSU recovered on about the Wyo 35. It was hard to tell because it was snowing the hardest. CSU was up by 3 and for some reason they didn't even try to run any offense just gave it on a straight ahead run into the middle three straight times. On fourth down and about 6 or 7 they did the same thing and by then Wyo knew what they were going to do and stuffed it. No idea why if they were not going to try to make it they didn't punt. They acted like they though because it was snowing nothing they had no choice but to just run into the middle even though Wyo knew that's what they were going to do. A strange attitude for a team located at high altitude.

Wyoming got the ball and did the opposite. They started attacking immediately and marched down the field and won the game.

Not sure what the mental state of CSU will be this week after the coaches gave up on the team in their biggest rivalry game, but I won't be on them.

Thanks Tahoe.

Yeah I saw them do that. Think they ran it on 4th and 6 and gained 4. At first I thought a prior error on the earlier FG made them gun shy, but that was too far for a FG. Kind of was watching out of the corner of my eye, but certainly seemed odd how they handled it and agree it cost them the game. Thanks for bringing attention to that.

I'm not going to get SEC recaps outside of the nonconference ones already posted. Since it is the best conference everybody probably knows what happens in their games. ;)

Sun Belt coming up

24-21 Troy - Idaho missed a FG on their opening drive then after a Silvers fumble, ID drove 50y for TD. 7-0. Silvers then threw INT at the ID3, but Idaho punted back and Troy went 6p 59y to tie 7-7. GaSo went on another epic drive, 15p 80y (converted 4th down 2x) to lead 17-7. Manning connected with Hart on a 70y pass and had TD 2 plays later. 17-14 Eagles end of 3rd. Good post.

Chalk up another 'downvote' for CSU coaching, in my book.
