From what I first saw to now

UC Davis was -17.5 to 13.5
Monmouth was -20.5 to 16.5
Not sure what NAU line was but I took -166 now -205

So looks like they are doing 4 pt jumps on sides now. A few weeks ago I noticed the default move was a 3 pt jump. They did 3 on DSU/NSU but the others were 4

I wanted to go back and look on the Brown - Penn game and I pulled the trigger too soon or in error on Brown +9.5. It's not an ideal matchup for Brown, but historically it's not necessarily always a bad one. Consider vs what I'd call the big 3 in the Ivy: Harvard, Yale and Dartmouth. Brown generally doesn't compete with those teams well. Brown has won only 1 out of the last 14 vs Havard. Brown has won only 3 of the last 14 vs Yale and just 2 of the last 14 vs Dartmouth. Brown has won 5 of the last 14 vs Penn including 2 of the last 3.

The biggest thing for this Penn team vs Brown is going to be the WRs Penn has and if O'Brien plays good enough that is going to be a touch matchup.

I was on Penn last week vs Yale, and liked it quite a bit partially for some reasons I thought Yale had shown up to the Stonehill game and partially for some expectations I had for this Penn team. Watching in disbelief Penn play like shit against Yale made me realize that I had been ignorning red flags in all the Penn games up to this point.

The week prior Penn played Columbia and while they won 35-21, what I thought was a fluke, Columbia had their best offensive game of the year...21 pts when Columbia avg 10.6 in their other 5 games this year. 366y (5.2) allowed when Columbia avg 279 (4.38) in their other games. 40% 3rd down when Columbia previous avg vs everyone else is 29%. It was a different QB, I thought maybe Columbia found something on O, but then the next week the Lions reverted back to their norm or worse vs Dartmouth. So this reflects poorly on the Penn D.

I did not see the Marist - Penn game and it looks like a solid enough of a win...28-9 isn't a lot of pts for gaining 463y, in fact it's pretty inefficient. Penn had 12 penalties for 137y hmm. This showed up again last week as Penn was called for 10 penalties 110y. Yale was penalized heavily too, Penn had 7 of their 24 FDs by penalty, a very high rate.

Penn's win vs Dartmouth is a misleading final as Dartmouth led 14-3 before a comedy of errors flipped that game and Penn won by 12 despite being slightly outgained. Lehigh outgained them by 194y in Ivy week 2 and in Ivy opening week Penn barely escaped vs Stonehill needing a FG :09 to escape with the win.

Recreating all of that now, I am upset I was so bullish on Penn last week.

Brown is a bottom Ivy team and almost always is. They still have had some competitive games vs Penn. Last year Penn was -3 at Brown and won by 10. Two years ago, also on Friday night, Brown was +10.5 and won at Penn 30-26 (Penn -3 TOs). 2022 Brown was +13 and beat Penn 34-31 depsite starting QB being knocked out in the 1Q. So Brown has competed with Penn recently as DD dogs.

Brown usually brings some O to the table. First year starting QB and it has been inconsistent this year, they just passed for 471, 9.6ypa 63% 2-1 ratio on Cornell last week. A game they led 17-6 4Q but lost in OT. Princeton handled the Brown O pretty well forcing them into 4 TOs. Brown's O was MIA 1H vs Bryant, but turned in a strong 2H. Brown O was 'good enough' vs URI but that is not the reason they won that game.

Acknowledge if Penn's passing game is hitting on all cylinders this is going to be a tough game for Brown. But the Penn D and Penn running game have been pretty weak and in some categories Brown is actually the better D statistically.

So that is the case for Brown. Don't feel great on it. Penn's ceiling is higher for sure. Maybe I misread Penn one way or the other or maybe I'm overly influenced by what I saw out of them last week. I don't think the official box score stats on QB hurries are accurate and I don't know what the 'pressure rate' was by Yale last week vs Penn (box score only shows 2 hurries and I saw 2 hurries about every possession), but that Penn OL was bad last week. Brown D has 16 sacks on the year although 8 game in 1 game (Gtown).

I actually had Brown on my short list when I saw the 13.5 but passed because I could see a blow out happening after I crashed and burned with Penn last week. Actually if it hits 14.5 I might take it as I’m not sure Penn should be laying 2 TDs to anyone at this point, but not a fan of 13.5 in general.

I would assume it is mostly a fade of Brown off the Cornell loss, but Brown losing to Cornell is nothing new and actually the last 2 times that Brown beat Penn, they lost to Cornell that same year. I just feel bad that I lost money on Penn last week. Yale has really turned a corner on their season and Penn is not living up to what I thought they were or could be. Penn could blow them out. I would not expect this Brown team to beat them, but they were not expected to do so in '23 or '22 either and they did. If a Columbia O that had passed for just 172.8ypg in their other games could pass for 311 on Penn D I think Brown has a chance at succeeding as well in moving the ball.

Limits are more like novelty stuff like who will be next Disney CEO or will play Ozzy in bopic. Amazing how FD has destroyed the FCS market in a couple of weeks. Time for these losers to step a side and let some one else give it a go.

Wow that is really rough. I remember you had super low limits at BetRivers too. Now I understand the impact.

Really need some competition. What can we do about this? Obviously not something we control, but is messaging or suggesting to other books a good route? Does anyone actually care? You would think that any book would want more business, more revenue especially if it takes away from a competitor.

And I think you are right, back in September everything was normal, I think? As you have stated before, the higher juice, the limits, the way they move the lines, how they release them, it all sucks.

Yeah definitely makes sense as I’m not sold on Penn at all and as long as Brown doesn’t hand Penn opportunities I wouldn’t be surprised if it was a one score game either way so anything over 7.5 is solid in that scenario.

Yeah it’s getting old fast as I only have so many options at this point given all the limit bs I had to deal with last year at various books. May just start waiting til Saturday and giving BM my money vs splitting between them and FD. Thing is the fcs limits may end up causing me to just do everything at BM not just fcs, but I know FD doesn’t care as they are getting all that casual 10 leg parlay action from randoms.

I submitted a thoughtful suggestion to DK to release FCS earlier based off of them being the first to offer NDSU-SDSU last week and the fact they are the only US book I know who will have Championship odds. I know DK in the end is not any better or some will say worse than FD, but it was worth a try especially since they had that marker game last Monday night I think it was. Got a canned response back.

Appreciate you giving it a shot man. DK cut me off at the knees less than one year after they opened up shop here in NC and wouldn’t engage in a discussion about easing up on my limits so I haven’t used them since March Madness I think.

I would go back to Mybookie if they offered some early competition on fcs, as they took away the bonus option from me but at least didn’t limit me so at least that’s something haha

nothing is motivating to me off the bat without a more thorough review of recent performance

Took Morehead -9.5 113 as one of these days they are gonna finally blow out a bottom feeder

best of the worst line of thinking? Davidson was competitive with San Diego last week though? Tied 7-7, 14-14, 28-28... where Morehead struggled to get past Valpo. Valpo had leads of 7-0, 13-7 and 13-10 before MH prevailed 17-13.

A lot of teams I would've liked are favored high, like Towson. They put in Kent last week and benched the tFr Indorf. Kent is a former starter going back to 2023. Credit to him for sticking around. Joke would be he isn't good enough to transfer anywhere else. Don't believe that is the case. If I were to bet Towson I would hope they close out the year with Kent at QB. He has limitations, and sure Indorf is the future, but Kent can make this offense better which hasn't performed as good as it should.

A&T is getting better. I benefitted from those kick and punt return TDs last week vs Camel, but not sure A&T was actually the better team.

But they line Towson -11.5, hard to justify laying that even though I'd rather have them than A&T

Yep, Morehead has under performed every time they have faced a bottom feeder it seems but I think this is a case of right place right time with Davidson coming into town. I told myself I would play this at single digits so don’t want to hesitate as I think it will cross 10 sooner vs later and probably land around 12.5 or so.

Yeah was hoping for 6.5 but knew it wouldn’t happen so I passed

I took SFU +7.5. RM was -3 at SFU last week and that game was only 17-14 mid 4Q before RM won 24-14. SFU +20y despite losing by 10. It was actually one of the better offensive games for SFU this year. 6.1ypp. SFU -2 TOs including a muffed punt which RM turned into a 3p14y TD drive. Wagner did beat Duquesne last week, and that deserves respect. Rare for Wagner to be a favorite, especially on the road by over a TD? Wagner was favored once this year and lost straight up (Marist).

Tennessee Tech has outgained every opponent this year to an average of 253ypg. SEMO outgained them 401-299. YPP same. But that is a lot of offense production to put up on TTU.
