Flava's thread is a bit better than mine at dissecting this matchup. I'll say it more concisely (or shorter? lol)....

Navy likes to run the option. Actually, that's like saying that I "like" Kaley Cuoco.

One problem. Pitt is very stout against the run. Giving them extra prep time won't help the Naval Academy.

On the other hand, Pitt's Bostick is a very green (true) freshman. He's got a long way to go but his ceiling is unlimited and I expect him to gradually improve as the season progresses. He only has to manage this game and I expect the Pitt running game to wear down Navy. The Middie defense is far from intimidating, as semi-pedestrian offenses like Ball State, Duke and AFA were all able to go to Annapolis and move the ball.

This price should be about a touchdown. At four, I'll bite.

The play: Pitt -4 for a medium bet.

GL!

Good Luck tonight Rex, what do you think about the TOTAL? I have a play on the Under, and just wondering what your thoughts were on it.

Thanks fellas. I would only have UNDER in this game, as I forsee it being something about 27-17 or so. No real strong opinion on the total though, and the offenses might be able to get it in gear...

GL Rex - I think this line is kind of cheap tonight, but then again Pitt has been terrible the last two weeks. Their D has two weeks to prepare for a team that won't throw more than a handful of passes tonight so they ought to be able to devote full resourced to stop the option. I would expect a good effort from them in this spot after two bad losses. Also Navy pass D is awful, which should help the young QB get off a little bit tonight.

wanstadt is to dumb to know what embarrassed means -- what he should be is fired. i haven't seen the guy win a game for his squad in 3 years, they always lose to competition that is close to their level. now he recruits better than harris ever did, so bring on the new coach (or bring back the old one)!
