3:05 : SFG @ Colorado

Probably a game which says value in SFG but if you look closely its actually Colorado who has value. First thing that stands out is these two SP squared off @ SF with the Giants winning 3-2 . The next thing was the price as it was a Pkem . So right away knowing how more likely SF is to win at home then away coupled with COL having similiar traits we can guessestimate a fair line is closer to the 180 range . If you would argue home field is worth 30 to 35 cents then the simple switching of venues would be worth 60 to 70 cents so automatically COL would be in the 150 to 160 range but I think its worth more with these teams and SF probably closed at + 100 rather then -110 . Sanchez has definetly been better at home which might not show in price but clearly helps find value.

So really if DeLaRosa can be 150 to Misch this clearly should have opened higher .

Basically Jiminez seems to be improving of late and despite losing 8 of his 9 starts he seems to allow COL to hang around. He is better statisically at home and in day games.....

He was solid @ SF earlier this year going 5 + plus allowing 2 runs which is basically what Sanchez did. Here I think COL pen has turned it around and become more reliable the SF at the moment. Before today 6.08 SF pen ERA vs COL 1.69 pen ERA past 10 . Rocks left about 12 MOB as Sanchez allowed 10 baserunners in 5 2/3 innings Walker has struggled last few appearances and Valdez has been DLed.

Rockies are 10-12 (45% ish)at home facing a SF team who is 7-14 or 33%. Col is 5-8 in day games vs SF 6-13. One edge SF has is divisional record but we know COL is about 1-9 vs Zona. SF has thrown 3 LHP @ COl since 07 losing all three games Misch this year and Zito and Lowry last.

Barnes , Atkins , Holliday and to a lesser degree Helton all have very sound day splits. SFG has a nice 257 day avg but allows nearly 6 runs per day game. SF though avgd just 2.5 runs in there division , 3 per road game and 3.2 vs RHP so far .

Sanche has been tough on LHB but walked aton of RHBs. If you see his 3 road starts he lost badly @ Pitt and Milw suffering from the long ball. He was spotted an 8-0 lead and couldnt go more then 5 scoreless innings @ STL cause he throw a 101 pitches . Clear indication he labored.

He has won just 2 of 7 away starts in his career , 1-2 in 08 , 0-2 in 07 and 1-1 in 06 winning @ CIncy losing badly @ Milw. Atkins , Baker an Iannettta have limited success 7-14 3doubs 1 hr 7 rbi 6bbs 2ks.

Rocks are 3-1 at home vs LHP only losing 7-6 to Chi and rich Hill who lasted 5 innings but Rocks pen couldnt hold a 5-3 lead late and they lost in extras but defeated Misch , James and Glavine so far .

So like COL to take the series on Wed . Jiminez doesnt have to face many LHBs with power probably only Bowker and Lewis , Duham , Winn & Vizquel . Today barmes hit a 9th inning 2 run shot off Wilson and Atkins usually a key stranded 7 MOB in a 1 run game.

I have won with Oak 1st 5 innings past 2 days and lost the game ML as well. Oak pissed away another win with a 3 run 2 out error in the 8th ! Al after losing in extras on Monday. Before Today TBhit just 209 vs LHP away and well they didnt score an earned run as you have to navigate Upton , Longoria and Gomes for the most part. Eveland has been very solid at home allowing 1 run in each of 3 home starts vs weak lineups vs LHP and goin 7 , 5.2 inn and 7 inn. His day splits were also solid and Sonnastine for as good as he has been only registered 1 day start and it was the lackluster effort vs LAA last weekend. A's are 17-12 vs RHSP so far . As have scored 5.8 vs RHP compared to 3.8 for TB vs LHSP......Big Hurt showing life with a 9th inning HR after 2 Hrs yesterday......

Jimenez's one walk set a season low, which tells you exactly the source of his struggles this year. He has a 98 mph fastball, and if he could get consistent control of it, he could really become something special, as his 11 strikeouts in his last start at San Diego show.
 
Interested in looking at Under @ Minny maybe Texas , maybe an under @ Boston since the previous 5 no-no saw the 2nd game be a shutout but trusting Colon ? , Yanks wakeup call in what was a fake loss and AROD helps vs LHSP and Olsen cant get any luckier , maybe Wsox , SD and over Washington.....:cheers:
 
i like the Twins tomorrow as i think Blackburn is heating up. As for the totals i'm intrigued by the DET-SEA Under but i'm gonna back off cuz of gas can rogers, and i like the LAA-TOR Under
 
i would agree that colorado is the play. there are a few things which will keep me off of it. hawpe is out, holliday 0-7 against sanchez, public is about 85% on colorado ML, colorado is a frustrating team to bet on becuz they do leave so many men on base. colorado has had trouble hitting lefties this year, but have been much better recently. side note: im fuckin pist robby ginepri (self-proclaimed clay hater) beat my guy mario ancic (-880) which would have finished off a 4 team parlay which i had to wait on for a couple days becuz it got postponed due to rain in austria. luckily i hedged a lot, but i would have hit a big one if mario hooked me.
 
Spilborghs hits lefties better anyway, having Hawpe out is an advantage if he were going to start.
 
Rocks have lost 9 of Jiminez last 10 starts as well. That's a tough number to lay a heavy price like this on - no matter what the rest of the stats say. I say this is a San Fran play or nothing..... Good luck
 
Like the price on the A's at home. Tampa doesn't hit LHP all that well and Eveland has been great at home thus far. Also the first time Tampa will see him, I usually like that angle. A's offense blows, but perhaps can squeek out a few runs to get the W.
 
oakland appears to be an easy play on the surface. tb struggles against lefties, especially on the road. eveland has been excellent in his 3 starts at home this year. oakland trying to avoid what would be a heartbreaking sweep. i've heard people say they still think sonnastine sucks becuz of what they know of him from last year. i highly disagree with this thinking, becuz this year is new and he is pitching VERY well. another guy who comes to mind for me is contreras. ive heard people say they still have him on autofade, which is fucking ridiculous. he is pitching better than he ever has and he has so much confidence in that forkball. i've bet on contreras in 3 str8 starts and ive been cashing happily. i like tb bats much more than oakland and i don't really follow these team that closely so i'm not gonna force a play here.
 
i agree herm, i actually first thought to myself it is better for colorado that hawpe is out becuz he has been fucking horse shit lately. i looked at last nights box score and he was like 0-5 with a shitload of men left on base
 
Sheets was beat up with 3 runs in his last outing, today he makes up for it in my mind...

You also have to factor in Sanchez's terrible road numbers. You have to think the Rockies will put up some runs today.
 
his road numbers might be exaggerated imo. it was only three starts and one of them was 5 innings of shut out ball against st lou., he only gave up 2 hits. the only two starts he gave up 7 ER in each but only gave up 6-7 hits so the other team was getting all the timely hits to knock those guys in. pit and mil bats must have been on that day becuz they crushed cisco's bullpen as well. just playing devils advocate.
 
as a native to the bay area, id like to make it clear that I strongly believe the giants are a terrible team. especially this year. Who do you have? Really. Lincecum, Ortmeier, Bowker, maybe rowand, and that's about it. The rest are a bunch of old guys that used to be pretty good. In a sport like baseball, you want to keep at least a few veterans around to teach and develop the young guns, but this is way out of hand. Need to make some smart moves. IE, not picking up a gazillion$ pitcher with an 84mph fastball.

bad road away pitcher, hot temperature, hitters park, and subpar sophomore home pitcher usually is not a good recipe for an under no matter how slumping the teams bats are.. Ump is neutral too. I think it'd take a lot for this to stay under. gl though with the total, ill probably go with rockies -1.
 
i'm not necessarily playing it becuz unders in coors are always fucking scary, but i do believe sanchez is going to pitch pretty decent.

I could be wrong but I seriously doubt 80% of the people are backing Colorado here . Thats just my feeling and I see all the split percentages that you guys see I just dont buy it personally. I am not saying they are lying I just dont think they flow they see from 5 minor books is all that representative of the action. I sort of use logic to to guess what numbers might be accurate . I care more about the cant lose attitude or look of a game ratherthen real %s. If your looking to fade the public it might be best to get a read on the your local bookies since the avg joe bettor isnt online. Thats just my opinion though

Any LH not playing IMO for COL is a plus since that is Sanchez's strength although the Pirate LH did get to him abit. Think LaRoche HR'd.

The problem I have with looking Jiminez's last 10 starts and saying COL is 1-9 is simple first COL is notorious for struggling on the road and second I have been saying this all year when you see a young SP both in terms of age and experience at near even money then its almost an automatic ROAD fade . Perfect example Minnesota last night . Young SP are gonna struggle on the road . So I am talking about road games because of his 9 starts this year 6 have been away. At home he went 6 innings defeating ATL 4-3 , he went 5 innings to which STL won 6-5 but the pen lost it in the 9th , and recently Minny beat him 4-2 but he went 7 innings. On the road he lost 3 times by 1 run including @ SF where outpitched Sanchez , once by 2 runs and the other games COL was shutout . COL scored 15 runs in his 6 road starts and 7 came in one game at home they scored 11 in 3 starts. Tough to win when your team scores 26 times in 9 starts for you . The good news is Jiminez is starting to pitch better of late which means he needs less run support then he did at the beginning of the season to be successful and just as important COL pen has been doing well of late . The flip is Sanchez has had issues on the road and I dont think he EVER has gone 6 complete innings away so that leaves 3 innings for a shorthanded struggling pen . Tyler Walker was MONEY for awhile but struggling last few and Merkin Valdez went on the DL. These are so key because if you look at pitchers game logs you can get a feel for who the manager calls on when he is winning or close and who the manager calls on when he is losing and trying to keep it close. So with Valdez out and Walker struggling it throws a big question mark into who is doing what for SF at the moment until they get to closer Brain Wilson who has been inconsistent of late.

So what I did why highlight his home starts in his career. Including the postseason start he has made 13 at home. COl is only 6-7 in those starts. However in those starts he went 6 INN or better in 9 of them (of 13) . He lasted only 5 innings twice which his team lost both times but clearly had a chance to win. In the other two which were last year he was terrible vs CHI and FLA. In those 9 high quality starts he never allowed more then 3 runs

So 5 starts he went 6 + innings- his team is 5-0 .

31 inn 19 hits 10 runs all earned 3 Hrs 18bbs 22Ks

So that leaves 4 starts he went 7 or better which amazingly his team is 1-3

28 inn 20 hits 8 runs all earned 1Hr 5 bbs 18 Ks

So the longer he lasts depend solely on his command

Anyway in these 9 quality starts he allowed 39hits and 23 walks in 59 innings for a WHIP of slightily above 1.00 with an ERA of 2.75

So basically my play is this . I see Jiminez improving of late but still not getting WINS so he faces a team he pitched well against on the road this year which is where he has has not been anywhere the same quality. So I think he can be successful and when he has been successfully in the past its been a 6 or 7 inning start with a 2.75 ERA . The COL pen has an ERA 2.02 the past 10 games and 3.08 all season according to covers and 3.58 on scoresandodds but its issues where at home for them so far mostly Corpas.. Bucholz and Fuentes should get at least the last 6 outs maybe more but maybe less depending on Jiminez. Bucholz has allowed just 2 hits in 8 day innings and 1 run. Fuentes has allowed 1 run at home in11 innings..

SF is a team who has won just 33% of the time away 7-14. They have a SP who in 7 career chances has failed to complete 6 innings and a bullpen in a disarray . The SP has been very good at home but failed like most yung SP to translate that into consistency and success on the road. The Giants might be hitting better of late then Col but again COL is home and SF is not . COL has the edge in facing its opponents pitching ....

Simply put I 'll take my chances Jimine coontinues to show he can be quality SP and keep the Ginats to 3 runs or less which I think COl can find a way to score 4 or 5 here at a minmum.....

I am not saying they are lying I just dont think they flow they see from 5 minor books is all that representative of the action. I sort of use logic to to guess what numbers might be accurate . I care more about the cant lose attitude or look of a game ratherthen real %s. If your looking to fade the public it might be best to get a read on the your local bookies since the avg joe bettor isnt online. Thats just my opinion though

at the least, i think 65% are on colorado. But how many times have we made plays against the SFG and STILL cashed with huge public tilt? I can't even count.
 
I mostly think SF won't be able to generate much offense today. Ubaldo had the benefit of starting the season last year about half way through. I am sure he is figuring things out at this point and perhaps it is starting to click. SF averages 3.5 RPG and less than that on the road. Their batters haven't done anything in the past vs. Ubaldo...the lineup they throw out there probably will have around a .150 BA against him in circa 30 abs.

I dont mind there lineup that much but they all battled injuries which are more likely as you get older. Viz and Durham sounds solid and I wonder how many games they have played let alone together granted Viz recently returned. Really they need a upgrade at 3rd base if your gonna play Aurilia and Bowker at 1st that should be decent with some upside. ight now there pen is ahuge concern in my eyes. They have young SP who labor with high pich counts , Zito and Misch two pesky LH...pen is getting worn thin already IMo...:shake:
 
I'm thinking if the over in Beantown might be a decent play. Colon has apparently been lighting up the minors, but...
 
A's have the advantage in every split:

Eveland (home) / Sonnanstine (away)
Batting vs Righties (home) / Batting vs. Lefties (away)
A's pen (home) / Rays' pen (away)


Marcum has been a beast at home. Sub 1 WHIP, and averaging about 7 IP per start. Wish the Jays could hit a little.

Also, Byrd has given up 7 dingers in 4 road starts. Way better pen for Sox.
 
Toronto looks like a pretty solid play to me. If you run an ESPN batter vs pitcher, you'll see the Jays have .282 against Garland. Ironically, you pull out their best hitter Wells, Eckstein, McDonald and Burnett...you get up to .301 w/ an OPS somewhere around .900(if Matt Stairs sits that will go up even more). Garland is also a bit streaky & historically better at home.

Marcum is still underrated and pitching very well. The Angels bats do not have a great history against him(.224 BA w/ 8 of 11 hits singles). He also has dramatic day/night splits favoring the evening. This year the only non quality start he pitched was a day game loss. Over the past few years he was 11-5 in night games(3.40 ERA/.245 BAA/161 IP) and 4-5 in day games(6.02/.280/83.2 IP). Hard to ignore those splits, kind of reverse of one of my favorite day pitchers Francis.
 
GOod points SportsNut. I still say there's value on San Fran at anything above +150....

Latest forecast has wind blowing OUT at 17 with anticipated winds up to 22 during the game. I still like this over quite a bit.
 
Note they have put the real players in at third base and shortstop for Pitt. tonight.
