"UFC 98: Evans vs. Machida" televised main card officially set

UFC 98 is headlined by a UFC light-heavyweight championship bout between title-holder Rashad Evans (13-0-1 MMA, 8-0-1) and top contender Lyoto Machida (14-0 MMA, 6-0 UFC), and "The Ultimate Fighter 6" coaches Matt Hughes (42-7 MMA, 15-5 UFC) and Matt Serra (9-5 MMA, 6-5 UFC) meet in the co-main event.

Also guaranteed time on the broadcast is a middleweight bout between top contender Yushin Okami (23-4 MMA, 7-1 UFC) and Dan Miller (11-1 MMA, 3-0 UFC). So, too, is a lightweight bout between former champ Sean Sherk (33-3-1 MMA, 7-3 UFC) and contender Frankie Edgar (9-1 MMA, 4-1 UFC).

Larson official for UFC 98; Irvin vs. McFedries promoted to main card

"UFC 98: Evans vs. Machida" is once again complete, as Brock Larson (25-2 MMA, 2-1 UFC) has officially been announced as a replacement opponent for Chris Wilson (14-5 MMA, 1-2 UFC).

The UFC made the announcement overnight on its official website.

UFC 98 is scheduled for May 23 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Wilson was originally scheduled to face Josh Koscheck, but a training injury forced the American Kickboxing Academy fighter out of the bout.

Larson fought earlier this month, earning an impressive first-round submission win over Jesse Sanders at UFC Fight Night 18. Currently riding a four-fight win streak, the bout was Larson's first bout in the UFC since a December 2006 unanimous-decision win over Keita Nakamura.

Wilson, a former Team Quest member now representing Team Nogueira in Brazil, will be returning for the first time since a January split-decision loss to John Howard at UFC 94 - a bout that was awarded the evening's co-"Fight of the Night."

With the change in opponent, the UFC has moved the bout to the preliminary card in favor of a bout between sluggers James Irvin (14-5 MMA, 4-4 UFC) and Drew McFedries (7-5 MMA, 3-4 UFC). With 14 of the pair's 21 combined wins coming by knockout or TKO, the bout is expected to be a stand-up brawl.

I am liking Serra--

reason is that the old militech fighters are all almost out of UFc and retired--

NOt that serra is a spring chicken, but the old fighters, Couture, Liddell, Ortiz, Hughes cant win in todays UFC---

If Hughes was fighting anyone else he would get crippled-- Because he is not athletic anymore-

guys like Hughes have NO FIRE< he is ready to retire, I think this will be his last fight-

I have no idea what Serra is like of late, BUt I do think Hughes cannot be favored that muc over anyone-
I think Serrra can win this match and it should be a pick at worst-
 
After Matt Hughes lost his last fight to Thiago Alves, he said he has one more fight AND that he wanted to fight Matt Serra. During the TUF, these 2 hated each other and lot of trash talking exchange. It's going to be an all out grudge match; in which the fight can go either way.

I like Machida to win the title. A lot of people dont like his style, but his skills cannot be overlooked. He's patient and brings in an intellegent game plan. He K.O. a surging fighter in Thiago Silva and made a statement in that fight. However, Greg Jackson's camp always bring a good game plan also. This might be "snooze" fest as both fighters are probably going to be patient and counter strike.
 
Might have to lay the heavy number with Sherk. Really like him here.

Probably not going to touch the Serra/Hughes fight. It has the same feeling to me as Liddell/Rua - which one of these guys is on his way out? I don't know and don't particularly care. Not a fan of either of these guys.

I think Machida probably wins but I'm gonna have to play the champ as a dog.

I like Irvin over McFedries but not at that price.

Don't see anything I like on the undercard at first glance.
 
Like Serra at that price as I believe this fight is close to 50/50

Never ever do I lay that much juice in mma but I see no way edgar(and I love frankie) taking this fight . Sherk is a lot stronger and way better in stand up the edgar. As long as he avoids some silly sub he should dominate this entire fight. Sherk has looked good since his return from the roids situation. Wish I could get this line closer to -220 but i dought it. Maybe parlay this with Koschek???

No thoughts about the main event. Think evans loses but dont like the price either way. Gun to my head I take evans here with the positve money.

Krzysztof likes the submissions. I haven't looked but I think the line will probably make this fight unbettable except in a parlay.
 
Don't think the number is high enough on machida.. I think -200 still presents value. I think his unique style gonna presents all sorts of problems for Shad. Granted, I'm a big anti-rashad guy so I am admittedly biased

I'm shocked! Another Koscheck fight where he is -400+.. Is he gonna fight somebody soon?
