Minnesota Twins vs. Seattle Mariners
Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at 4:10 p.m. ET at T-Mobile Park in Seattle

Who Pitches for Minnesota?

Minnesota starts Sonny Gray today.

The Gray-led Twins have been a solid bet lately.

They've won the last five games in which he started.

He hasn't started in a bit because he is coming off the injured list

But he looked just fine in his extended bullpen session, so he is ready to go.

Great Spot for Gray

Today is a great spot for Gray.

He gets to pitch during the daytime, which favors him because his career daytime ERA is .44 better than his career nighttime ERA.

Moreover, he owns a superb 1.58 ERA in six career starts in Seattle.

Who Starts for Seattle?

Seattle starts southpaw Marco Gonzales.

His ERA looks nice, but it masks a 5.64 FIP (like ERA but factors out fielding), which reflects how poorly he's actually been performing.

Gonzales looks particularly unreliable today because he matches up poorly against Twin batters.

Primarily, he throws a sinker and changeup.

Minnesota, however, ranks sixth in slugging against his favorite pitches from lefties.

Baltimore Orioles vs. Toronto Blue Jays
Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at 7:07 p.m. ET at Rogers Centre in Toronto

Toronto's Situation

While the Blue Jays are chalked rather heavily, they are in a uniquely strong situation today.

They are enjoying a solid run of bouncing back after losses.

Specifically, they are 4-0 in their last four games following a defeat.

Pertinently to my favorite bet for this game, all four of those wins were utter blowouts.

In those four games, they beat St. Louis 8-1, dominated Minnesota 12-3, blew out Detroit 10-1, and shut out the Tigers 6-0.

Who Starts for Toronto?

Toronto starts Jose Berrios whose current ERA looks ugly.

But remember that ERA is a season-long statistic, and it is a long season.

ERA reflects how a pitcher has performed over the course of an entire season, but it may mislead one as to how a pitcher is performing in a given stretch of the season.

In this current stretch of the season, Berrios is performing well.

He has yielded a sub-three FIP in four of his last five starts.

Berrios vs. Oriole Batters

Berrios looks particularly promising tonight because he matches up well against Oriole batters.

Primarily, Berrios throws a fastball, curveball, and sinker.

Oriole batters, however, rank 26thin slugging against Berrios' favorite pitches from righties.

Who Starts for Baltimore?

Baltimore starts regular catastrophe Bruce Zimmermann today

Zimmermann's performances have been worse than ever in his most recent starts.

He has allowed a combined total of 18 runs in his last three starts and 27 runs in his last five starts.

Given his catastrophic tendencies and Toronto's strong situation, the Blue Jays are my favorite team total over bet today -- keep that in mind when deciding which straight wagers to place on today's games.

Plus, the Blue Jays match up superbly with Zimmermann, ranking sixth in slugging against his favorite pitches from lefties.

Milwaukee Brewers vs. New York Mets
Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at 7:10 p.m. ET (FS1) at Citi Field in Queens, New York

Who Starts for Milwaukee?

The Brewers start the normally reliable Corbin Burnes.

Burnes has yielded a sub-2.50 FIP in three of his last four starts.

Given the consistency with which he thrives, he is a strong "under" pitcher.

This is particularly true on the road as the "under" is 4-1-1 in his road starts.

Plus, the Mets match up poorly against him, ranking 22nd in slugging against his favorite pitches from lefties.

Who Starts for the Mets?

The Mets start David Peterson who is most known for the variety of his pitch selection.

He promises to thrive tonight because the Brewers routinely struggle against lefties.

In June, they managed one run against San Diego's Sean Manaea in six innings, were shut out by Padre MacKenzie Gore, mustered two runs against Philadelphia's Ranger Suarez in seven innings, and scored four runs against Washington's Patrick Corbin with all four of those runs coming in the seventh inning when Corbin was stretched beyond his limit.

Best Bet: Parlay Twins ML at -135, Blue Jays RL at -140, and Brewers/Mets Under 7.5 at -125 at +437 odds

I‘ve done it before. Sometimes I just find it a more effective way of filling up space, because I don‘t need a lot of words to explain why I like an individual baseball game
