his numbers this year look a bit like his numbers last year. I'll be surprised if an over trend doesn't materialize this year. ...and I'm not sure 8 is high enough for these two pitchers.

wind blowing out to CF too...or so goes the prediction.

there sure are a lot of recent under trends for these teams tho.......
 
I really like the possibilities of the NYY-TB Under 8.5, and the BOS-BAL OVER 8.

...Houston's been hitting well, and Matt Cain has a tendency to pitch well until he tires and then he gives up runs in bunches. I would lean over there, too.

On another note, I'm now 4-0 since I began this ump stalking, so thanks again red for all that you post each day.
 
Sup fellas...

Of the guys RED has listed so far, DAVIS is an honorary OVER member. At 22-12 last year, his smallish strike zone finally paid off for some higher-scoring games. The percentages aren't all that high, but they have been skewed by some games he called where the guys just flat out always threw strikes (Paul Byrd, Maddux, etc) - so the percentage isn't to be taken as the gospel. I lean OVER with the aforementioned stats, and yes, the way Houston has been hitting. Don't want to lay juice on OVER 8 (-120) so will wait to grab OVER 8.5 (-105 or so) or back when it goes to 8-flat...

BARRETT is a clubber (see strike percentages in 2003, 2005, 2006) to the UNDER. Senators put up a 10-spot last night in the frigid NY winds, much to the ire of "E" and his faithful backers. Didn't see anything after the first inning (scoreless), as I was knee-deep in basketball, hockey, the Twins/Sox, Janks/Tampon and Fish/Reds...

KULPA is an honorary member to the UNDER (85-108 last six years) but I see he is calling just 60.8 percent strikes thus far and is 5-1 through six games. When I get a minute to examine those pitching matchups, I will be able to note whether that is a fradulent rate that will eventually even itself out and he will regress back to his UNDER-happy ways, or not... My notes are a little behind on this guy as I've missed his last two games behind the dish.

That's it for now. Back in a bit and rooting for a Shorty appearance with the extremely-helpful color-coded "UMP GUIDE"... If you're stuck stalking, it's always nice to know which creatures you're examining in their natural habitat!
 
Rex..agree w/ your call on Barrett and he should be a nice fit in this match-up . Maine has beeen much better of late as he apears to have ironed out his control issues and i always give him a boost at home. Wash should come back to earth here and continue there weak hitting on the road.Lannan is an extreme GB/Control pitcher who i like to back in certain spots. of note here is that in his first start at Shea he K'd 11 mets in 6ip w/ 0 Walks. wind blowing in from left should help Maine as well , looks like a strong under to me.

Molina complained about the call and was ejected by home plate umpire Paul Schrieber as La Russa was walking out of the dugout.


“Everything was OK,” Molina said. “It was that pitch. I asked him where it was. He didn’t like it, and he threw me out.”


Molina protested his ejection by taking off his gear and leaving it in a pile at Schrieber’s feet.


“That was awesome,” Wainwright said. “If you’re going to get tossed, you might as well make it a good one. That was one of the better ones I’ve seen.”


La Russa continued to argue and eventually was thrown out himself.

good points gents on the NYM-WAS under. I'm just glad i messed up and didn't get it in yesterday so i could take the CHC-SD OVER.

...as for my early leans, the juice is bad on the BOS-BAL OVER, which sucks, but the TB-NYY is still at -110. i'm wondering if the under in that one is NOT such a good idea though because of all the Yanks lefties facing Jackson, a RHP.

i will be staying away from the toatal in the LAA/CWS, however i really like the Sox as a small dog. not a fan of weaver at all but i really like the way Danks is developing . his control has been elite of late while his SO's are still excellent, couple that w/ an improved GB rate and you have a top level SP in the making. he is only 23 and a LHP, get him now while he still has some value. a strong play here.

under in balti then i guess... guthrie with good history vs the sox. Only worry is his current pitching pattern. He is prone to give up the long ball in the 3-5 inning, nullifying his good pitching beforehand. If he can keep the ball down, 8 is a fair number.
 
i have no interest in the OVER between BOS-BAL now with Diaz behind the plate. I guess that is good news because of the juice... and also i have no interest in the TB-NYY under cuz the Yanks are facing a RHP, and Kulpa seems to be an over clubber.

...on the other hand, Guccione seems to be good for the way i was leaning on the LAA-CHW game, so i think the UNDER there is the strongest play, imo. Maybe the UNDER between NYM & WAS is another good play though

DARLING in Cleveland. He's an honorary club member, with strike percentages well over the 63.5 percent needed to be an "UNDER" ump in three of the last six years. He's been calling some overs this year (six of eight) but that should even out over time. I'll be there on the UNDER in that one.

in 2005, 16-16 o/u with 64.18% strikes. 12.8 SOs/5.6 walks = 2.30
in 2004, 18-18 o/u with 62.59% strikes. 13.2 SOs/6.3 walks = 2.11
in 2003, 23-14 o/u with 63.82% strikes. 13.3 SOs/6.4 walks = 2.08
in 2002, 16-16 o/u with 63.65% strikes. 13.5 SOs/5.7 walks = 2.37
in 1999, 16-10 o/u with 61.91% strikes. 12.5 SOs/7.1 walks = 1.76

I wouldn't expect this year's over trend to continue.

KULPA 5-1 O/U this year (60.85 percentage) this year but an old dog doesn't change his stripes... he's been at the 63.5 percent UNDER threshold a couple of times (including last year) and was 85-108 O/U last six years before this season.

If you like UNDER in Tampa, he won't hurt you.

HERNANDEZ has been an UNDER guy at times, and his percentage back in 2002 and 2003 was over 64... he's still an UNDER guy but his strike zone is too inconsistent to get a good read on it. This year, he's 3-6 O/U but at less than 61 percent, with these two pitchers, I won't have anything to do with the total...
 
GIBSON just 4-4 this season and and has traditionally been NEUTRAL, but it's hard to ignore his 59.23 strike percentage, which is the lowest in baseball...

in 04, 21-15 o/u with 62.38% strikes. 12.1 SOs/6.2 walks = 1.94
in 03, 22-15 o/u with 62.50% strikes. 13.4 SOs/6.9 walks = 1.95
in 02, 11-18 o/u with 62.95% strikes. 13.8 SOs/6.4 walks = 2.14

this is somehow an over guy with several stats that suggest unders. but he's done the shit for years.....
 
WOLF in Kansas City. He was a CLUBBER last year, and has a large, vertical strike zone. He's just 61.32 strikes this year, and 5-2 O/U... but those things tend to even out.

i also have a play on the Dodgers, but its more of a play against Villenueva and Milw, i really think this is a new Penny though but i hope your right and he delivers a bounce back.GL

i already had an 1h under here and i think this assignment helps, i think wolf has too much history and those walks need to normalize as you suggest.
