I dont have all stats yet and have to wait todays games, but first leans are:
-Pirates
Cardinals lost vs Brewers and they played with 6 players from their bullpen. Snell for -106 is ok for me.
-Phillies RL
Brewers with Bush on the mound and they will face Phillies on other side Hamels with ERA 1.86. Brewers could also have problems with bullpen. They used 7 relievers (or 8?, no matter). The only concern is Philadelphias trip back from Colorado. Have to wait, hope, that Phillieas will rest some guys and do not play some extra innings.
-Giants
Definitly go with this nice line on Cain again. Still have to wait todays games and see some other stats.
-LAA
Dice-K overrated again or I just don't like him? Don't know yet.

I would be cautious with Philly. Hamels is great no doubt but remember this team also beat Santana at Shea. Bush is the Kyle Lohse of the Brewers see the drastic differences in his home and away splits since coming to Milw. Also the guy is pitching for a rotation and roster spot of Sheets goes on the DL. There PEN is toast but Bush is capable of 7 maybe 8 innings at home. Philly just played 3 tough games and have to travel again Philly to COL late Sunday and now COL to Milw after another late ending..

Agree with Pitt and Snell as well..top of the rotation guy vs what amounts to a spot starter at even money...Cards actually seem to do well vs Pitts LH SP...

Some other quick thoughts without research...

over @ Fenway maybe 1st 5 innings...depends on what rest Dice K is on if 5 days then leaning that way if 6 or so then passing...much better stats on 6+days rest...

The Rangers look like absolute crap and Mendoza hasnt shown much so why not Rogers and Texas? Kenny always better at home...Rangers alot of LHB which he tends to do well against...

Braves just lost to Wash andAndrew Miller has just looked terrible so what has changed? Bennett is a decent spot starter....maybe an over

Nats finally scored some today but it took to the 9th inning maybe Johan -1.5 RL....

The matchup in CIncy screams offense...

Tribe seems reasonable seeing its Carmona vs Tomko...

Milw seems attractive as a decent dog. They are also 5-0 vs LHP. Agree with your angle on Philly traveling Sportsnut they will be a bit out of it. Still no Rollins or Victorino unless I hear otherwise. I've been riding crappy pitchers at home all year and cashing on them to finally get their home win so I'm gonna keep riding it.

Wednesday AL thoughts :

Cleveland @ KC : The Tribe bats really wokeup yesterday OR did they ? I talk alot about deep lineups and how they wear out pitchers. The Tribe has a pretty deep lineup but the problem is its heavily RH and all started in a funk. You see 15 RUNS and one thinks Sizemore , Hafner , Martinez , Garko. ReRead the boxscore finally the bottom of the lineup hit. The top 5 hitters went 6 for 24 with 4 RBI and Dellucci was the guy with 2 hits , 2rbi and a HR in that top 5 not exactly the guy we are thinking of. So the bottom 4 hitters all RHB by the way went 11 for 16 with 11RBI and 2 HRs. Thats Peralta , Cabrera , Gutierrez , and Blake. Two had 3 hits , Blake a perfect 4 for 4 with 6 RBI and Cabrera went 1 /3 . Even after that explosion Peralta hitting 257 , Cabrera 200 , Gutierrez 234 and Blake 233 so most of these guys were in the 170-190 range before this game and we were 20 games deep. The RBI well Blake had 10 coming into the game so 6 more 60% of his season , Gutierrez had 5 coming in and 3 more was also 60% of what he had done all YEAR to date. So a GREAT SIGN for the TRIBE IMO.

KC has lost 5 straight and seems to be struggling on offense 15 runs past 6 games since they left Seattle. Now the face Fausto Carmona who was more like himself last time out vs DET but was definetly aided by so much offense. His first 2 starts were pretty good outside of some command issues were he walked 9 guys vs 7 K's. He allowed just 8 hits and 1earned in 13 innings. Then he signed teh contract extension and was terrible that next outing a few days later. My belief is like most athletes he tried to show he was worth that new contract and it usually goes down badly for those players. The only plus out if that game was it was his command betraying him as he walked good. To me thats better then seeing a guy allow line drive aftre line drive to which he allowed only 2 hits in 3.1 aided by some DP grounders.

At this point I am more concerned with his low STRIKEOUT totals then him issuing to many walks. He is not a strikeout pitcher relying mostly on a 93-96 MPH 2 seamer but like every pitcher you need the ability to make batters swing and miss while also wiggling out of trouble with a K. He owned KC at home but in both road starts allowed 3 runs in 6 innings. With each having a day off the pens should be okay minus Peralta and Yabuta for KC.

Behind the dish with Joyce he is doing a 180 so far as home teams and under are 4-0 . Usually a higer scoring ump who doesnt have a home team bias. Tomko has pitched well and he always had a good arm and looked good at times. Do I wantto believe that going from the NL to the AL at 35 and worse to a hitters park is gonna benefit him? Twins havent hit much and that was 2 of his starts and the other was @ LAA in which Vlad sat out , Kendrick missed due to injury ..and really no stud LH batters..

KC not hiiting lately as I said which makes me wonder if after going 0-4 with 4 Ks does Jose Guillen get a day off in favor Gathright? DeJesus is in and out with injuries only 4/9 Last7 games , Gordon 7 /20 350 but no Hrs 1 Rbi , Teahen 6/22 .273 0hr 1 rbi and 6/23 2 rbi . 261 so not much from there big guns. The rest 18 for 104 2hrs 7 rbi in 7 games! Carmona had some issues at KC 12 inn 19 hits 6 runs 2bb 2ks. The 4 core LHB were 18/41 plus Gathright was 5/10...

I really like the Tribe here but considering its now 150/160 ish which where I thought it should be not sure there is any value in it . Especially seeing Carmona does have some struggles vs there LHB and it showed in his starts @ Kauffman. I think I actually prefer the Over. With Carmona still seemingly trying to get into a groove based on lack of command first few starts which was corrected some but the hits per inning increase vs DET probably says he is still not putting the ball where he wants. So far he hasnt faced a team built on LHB yet. He had WSOX game 1 which i keep saying this team will struggle vs good RHP , then LAA what power bats do they have from the side ? , the Oak fiasco after the contract signing and then recently DET mostly RHB...so an interesting test here and despite the slumps after a beatdown I would think KC can score at least 3 maybe 4 runs..Tomko same deal he faced Minny twice a weak offense and then @ LAA w/o Vlad and still allowed 5 runs...So would think Cle can get 5 or 6...Tomko limited splist 3 for 6 combined Martinez and Sizemore and 2/14 for Dellucci...

Lean Over 8.5 and small lean Cle...

NYY @ WSox - Said about all I could on this game in VKs thread. Bottomline is Mussina needs to stop being a stubborn baby and say I need to make adjustments and get help from others in reinventing myself. He needs to say I dont have the answers for once. His velocity is decreasing and thats scary based on WSOX deep power lineup , the amount of near misses they had vs a sinkerballer yesterday as I thought 5 or 6 balls they hit had a shot but wound up outs , his reluctance to throw more 2 seamers inside to RHs...

So hard to see much value in NY because the pen is stretched and really Moose is a question mark. Hopefully he learned from the Boston starts and yes he can walk Manny like they would Barry Bonds in the NL for 5 years or so. The power potential of WSOX scares me most here. Mix in some nice weather and the ball come be jumping out of that park. Vazquez has been solid but interesting to see if NYY increased patience carries over today. Just read the other thread...Also Miller scares me some because he seems like an UNDER ump which means both SP could greatly benefit from an expanded zone due to there control...last 6-3 over with 9.5s but 12-1 UNDER the previous 2 years and 10-4 UNDER with 10 totals past 3....

LAA @ Boston : real quick the over interests me most . Dice K not as effective on just 5 days rest.

Red Sox are hitting and Garland has struggled vs the better lineups he faced so far and the Sox last season. he is worse thenMussina with JUST 3 KS in 4 starts and RHB are hitting 375 vs him so far.....LAA 6-17 last 23 @ Fenway hard to not like Boston cause it would seem that they have the edges...

Seems like both SP on shaky ground which means over and maybe 1st 5 innings over....manny and Ortiz kill garland 17/41 5 Hrs 12bbs ...Dice K struggled vs LAA in the playoffs...LAA 297 away vs RHP and Bos 317 at home so far..LAA 6-2-2 over away vs RHP and last 5 all went over...Sox 4-4 over ta home vs RHP but 4 of the past 5 went over in that situation...

Texas offense hasnt done much off Loewen , Burres , Lester and Bedard so far. Rogers tends to be much better at his age at home. He tends to be real tough on LHB and Rangers tends to have a few in there lineup . So just dont see where the edge comes in for them. Mendoza has been okay to date but he hasnt been good either and Tex middle relief is inconsistent....at 10.5 the under seems enticing hard to imagine the Rangers getting more then 4 runs looking at how they fared vs LH SP to date and Rogers track record. Tiger bats are better but still inconsistent and could struggle with someone they havent seen yet who happens tothrow fairly hard and is RH...

Interested in TB as Hammel has faced some tough lineups and steadily improved IMO. Halladay has owned TB but they finally hit him and hard in the last meeting of 2007 3.1 inn 12 hits and 8runs , 7 earned . He was okay in the 1st meeting at TB allowing 3 runs in 7 innings. Halladay has been sharp his 1st two road starts but has slipped some on the road last season. I think they let Halladay take one for the team last outing with a depleted pen throwing 117 pitches.

Right now TB probably has a better lineup as jays 255 L 10 vs RHP while TB is 289 and sports some tough LHs at the top. .Jays with Stairs , Overbay and Zaun are getting singles from that group but not much else. Wells has hit well vs RHP as have Rios and Hill but not much run production. Hammel was okay last year vs Tor an dI think he made nice strides and continue sto improve...both real solid pens and this could be a 1 run ball game so looking at TB +1.5 and the under .....

Minny @ Oak: Gaudin off two solid home starts vs a slumping offense looks good especially in a home dominanted series. Boonser struggled badly vs LHB last year around 350 and this year it s been an improvement but the jury is still out on the subject.....Lean A's

Balt @ Sea: cabrera has been solid so far and before 07 was actually tough on Seattle. Decent outing the 1st time vs SEA 4 runs in 6 inn but 2 Hrs hurt . Silva is also throwing real well and was solid @ Balt . Silva always been much better at home...so thinking Mariners and now with the total dropping to 8.5 thinking over...alot of missed opps last night and Guthrie vs hernadez much better SPmatchup and that was an 8 total...Sea pen still unsettled although it has pitched just 6 innings this year in Silva starts plus both teams seeing these guys for teh second time already...

Really havent zeroed in on any plays yet will try to post if anything sticks out alot....

Leaning towards Pitt , Over Cincy , Reds to some degree , Brewers (maybe +1.5) and over Milw possibly , most probably Col , SF , Under SF and really like LAD ...mostly because RH sinkerballers should give RH heavy lineups fits...enter Derek Lowe ! :cheers:

Crazy that I spent so much time on the Tribe game and it was rained out , then DiceK gets scratched negating the work on that game and spent a ton of time on the Yanks today and all I did was play 1st 5 innings under for 3/4 unit.....at least that won...

Wednesday AL thoughts :

Cleveland @ KC : The Tribe bats really wokeup yesterday OR did they ? I talk alot about deep lineups and how they wear out pitchers. The Tribe has a pretty deep lineup but the problem is its heavily RH and all started in a funk. You see 15 RUNS and one thinks Sizemore , Hafner , Martinez , Garko. ReRead the boxscore finally the bottom of the lineup hit. The top 5 hitters went 6 for 24 with 4 RBI and Dellucci was the guy with 2 hits , 2rbi and a HR in that top 5 not exactly the guy we are thinking of. So the bottom 4 hitters all RHB by the way went 11 for 16 with 11RBI and 2 HRs. Thats Peralta , Cabrera , Gutierrez , and Blake. Two had 3 hits , Blake a perfect 4 for 4 with 6 RBI and Cabrera went 1 /3 . Even after that explosion Peralta hitting 257 , Cabrera 200 , Gutierrez 234 and Blake 233 so most of these guys were in the 170-190 range before this game and we were 20 games deep. The RBI well Blake had 10 coming into the game so 6 more 60% of his season , Gutierrez had 5 coming in and 3 more was also 60% of what he had done all YEAR to date. So a GREAT SIGN for the TRIBE IMO.

KC has lost 5 straight and seems to be struggling on offense 15 runs past 6 games since they left Seattle. Now the face Fausto Carmona who was more like himself last time out vs DET but was definetly aided by so much offense. His first 2 starts were pretty good outside of some command issues were he walked 9 guys vs 7 K's. He allowed just 8 hits and 1earned in 13 innings. Then he signed teh contract extension and was terrible that next outing a few days later. My belief is like most athletes he tried to show he was worth that new contract and it usually goes down badly for those players. The only plus out if that game was it was his command betraying him as he walked good. To me thats better then seeing a guy allow line drive aftre line drive to which he allowed only 2 hits in 3.1 aided by some DP grounders.

At this point I am more concerned with his low STRIKEOUT totals then him issuing to many walks. He is not a strikeout pitcher relying mostly on a 93-96 MPH 2 seamer but like every pitcher you need the ability to make batters swing and miss while also wiggling out of trouble with a K. He owned KC at home but in both road starts allowed 3 runs in 6 innings. With each having a day off the pens should be okay minus Peralta and Yabuta for KC.

Behind the dish with Joyce he is doing a 180 so far as home teams and under are 4-0 . Usually a higer scoring ump who doesnt have a home team bias. Tomko has pitched well and he always had a good arm and looked good at times. Do I wantto believe that going from the NL to the AL at 35 and worse to a hitters park is gonna benefit him? Twins havent hit much and that was 2 of his starts and the other was @ LAA in which Vlad sat out , Kendrick missed due to injury ..and really no stud LH batters..

KC not hiiting lately as I said which makes me wonder if after going 0-4 with 4 Ks does Jose Guillen get a day off in favor Gathright? DeJesus is in and out with injuries only 4/9 Last7 games , Gordon 7 /20 350 but no Hrs 1 Rbi , Teahen 6/22 .273 0hr 1 rbi and 6/23 2 rbi . 261 so not much from there big guns. The rest 18 for 104 2hrs 7 rbi in 7 games! Carmona had some issues at KC 12 inn 19 hits 6 runs 2bb 2ks. The 4 core LHB were 18/41 plus Gathright was 5/10...

I really like the Tribe here but considering its now 150/160 ish which where I thought it should be not sure there is any value in it . Especially seeing Carmona does have some struggles vs there LHB and it showed in his starts @ Kauffman. I think I actually prefer the Over. With Carmona still seemingly trying to get into a groove based on lack of command first few starts which was corrected some but the hits per inning increase vs DET probably says he is still not putting the ball where he wants. So far he hasnt faced a team built on LHB yet. He had WSOX game 1 which i keep saying this team will struggle vs good RHP , then LAA what power bats do they have from the side ? , the Oak fiasco after the contract signing and then recently DET mostly RHB...so an interesting test here and despite the slumps after a beatdown I would think KC can score at least 3 maybe 4 runs..Tomko same deal he faced Minny twice a weak offense and then @ LAA w/o Vlad and still allowed 5 runs...So would think Cle can get 5 or 6...Tomko limited splist 3 for 6 combined Martinez and Sizemore and 2/14 for Dellucci...

Lean Over 8.5 and small lean Cle...

NYY @ WSox - Said about all I could on this game in VKs thread. Bottomline is Mussina needs to stop being a stubborn baby and say I need to make adjustments and get help from others in reinventing myself. He needs to say I dont have the answers for once. His velocity is decreasing and thats scary based on WSOX deep power lineup , the amount of near misses they had vs a sinkerballer yesterday as I thought 5 or 6 balls they hit had a shot but wound up outs , his reluctance to throw more 2 seamers inside to RHs...

So hard to see much value in NY because the pen is stretched and really Moose is a question mark. Hopefully he learned from the Boston starts and yes he can walk Manny like they would Barry Bonds in the NL for 5 years or so. The power potential of WSOX scares me most here. Mix in some nice weather and the ball come be jumping out of that park. Vazquez has been solid but interesting to see if NYY increased patience carries over today. Just read the other thread...Also Miller scares me some because he seems like an UNDER ump which means both SP could greatly benefit from an expanded zone due to there control...last 6-3 over with 9.5s but 12-1 UNDER the previous 2 years and 10-4 UNDER with 10 totals past 3....

LAA @ Boston : real quick the over interests me most . Dice K not as effective on just 5 days rest.

Played all my leans so 11-3 not so bad..Dodgers were sweet...actually dropped Pitt for SFG though.....
