I think I'll be on Boston. Without Horford, ATL is lost inside. They got out-rebounded against Orlando in their last game, and I think it happens again today.

Also not a great spot for ATL...New Years Eve and they have to travel to Boston for a 1pm start.

My numbers say ATL, SACTO, UNDER Orl/Gs, and UNDER Bk/SA. Will need further investigation.

atl comes into the garden to play boston without horford having played 4 in 7 while boston has played 1 in 5….travel to boston to play at 1 o'clock…boston defends the outside shot well and atl will take more with horford out and very well may come in and figure they can turn it up a notch in the second half and pull away….boston has a reputation of playing as hard as any team in the league and playing team ball to maximize their lack of talent….boston's defense helps their offense tremendously and when they commit to defense and play hard they almost always start fast and pull out to an early lead….they have covered the first half in 6 of 7 and this game and matchup fits that trend continuing

boston -1.5 first half….strong play…..i got it at this number earlier….currently at -2

the Atlanta guards can run riot vs Celtics though.

agree that Nets/Spurs under, unless the nets are really really really so bad and just want Spurs to score 120 on them, can see Popp just saying win the game and fuck the 4th q.

Thunder -5 and Thunder/Blazers o213.5, Aldridge had a field day last time out and he also wasn't stopped by The Brow. I also think the absence of Westbrook hurts the Thunder on the defensive end, especially when you have Lillard to guard. Both offences match up really well against anothers Defence, Blazers can stretch the floor so not to have to deal with Perkins or Ibaka as much, Durant will have a field day picking any Blazer he wants to play against. I think the key here will be how effective Sefolosha and Lamb, Reggie Jackson should score and distribute well but it's Sefolosha/Lamb combo that will be vital for this over.

I am almost confident that the Thunder will hit at least 100pts tonight, Blazers have allowed opponents to score over 100 in 9 straight games this is a back to back game where Blazers are 6-0 on overs with no rest days.

Considering the starting 5 play heavy minutes I think they will gas out in the end. Won't be surprised if the Thunder hit 120 themselves

@WojYahooNBA: The NBA issues a statement that Minnesota's Kevin Love was fouled on arm, should've been awarded two free throws at end of loss to Dallas.

is it me or am I seeing a lot of these types of things lately, in the NFL, NBA, probably NHL too

ATL 13-1 OVER last 14

Sweet Lou has stepped up big time, seeing more 3 point attempts front he Hawks, had 39 vs orlando, 39 vs charlotte, 34 vs cleveland, 34 vs heat, 26 vs Jazz, 25 vs Kings. Keep in mind though they played OT vs Charlotte, Heat, and Cavs. Pace will be faster with Horford off. Playing Lou, Teague and Korvar to start you will see tons of shots, not like Celtics really have good perimeter defenders.

I think as a whole, there are a lot more "league reviews" and then press releases. I don't recall the leagues every really doing this. I would imagine with all the technology teams, fans, etc are pointing out all the mistakes...

i recall there was one moment a fan actually posted a video of the game and sent it to the league office and they actually reviewed it? forgot which league it was.
hilarious really.

But that KC situation really fucking sucked for the Steelers but end of the day no guarantee that it would of changed the outcome just can only use it as a measuring tool for officiating.

Golf..

As far as the KC situation or any other situation the press likes to put in bold letters. i tis only one play throughout the course of the game, there are many other calls that could change the outcome these are just hightened.. my .02

^^^ that is true to an extent but come on. That KC situation was a joke. Pitt haters finally got to see the steelers get screwed over for a change I guess

You're seeing it more because the leagues are being more transparent IMO. They know that with today's technology everybody already knows and sees the mistakes by refs and the leagues know that people understand refs make mistakes... So why not be 100% up front... Much better for PR purposes to admit the mistakes.

That should work. Would not make many assumptions on Spurs game. Spurs at home have been a disaster for some time. 3-7 ATS last 10 and that has to concern him so would not be surprised if this was the day they really go after opposition.
Houston game who has even a clue. Houston still on 5 in 7 off a terrible beating and Kings last 2 beating Miami last 2 and coming close at Spurs

A little slow today but relating to Spurs game Nets next game is at OKC and can be described as a walk through hell as they won there last time. Today would be the time to fight. Not excited with under bets here.

The difference in the level of execution between the nets and the spurs is astronomical. If you want go play the nets, you can only play them first half IMO.

Im leaning on the spurs 3q

tailed cashman on PHilly team total and phoenix team total .. last two nights for nice sized bets.. thx dawg

If Divol shows would like input on possible effects on OKC with their off charts shooting last game
Papa Shango picks today. Orlando and Kings. Can understand Kings bet and am thinking about it. Orlando? GS playing with triple revenge and have been going win, lose, win on ATS. Can at least see arguments for both sides here

Starting to lean Nets
Reasoning is on a seriously terrible season last game of this year the Nets are a 12 point dog

I realize most of this is not from this season but why not just put it out there. 0 to lose.

Toronto. Team should know they get killed tomorrow very likely. Long term they owe Bulls pain. They did beat them at Bulls by 22 recently. Just find this hard to understand
Think on days like this there is a lot of emotion to the games that is hard to handicap and just watching a good play frequently

[h=2]TRAIL BLAZERS AT THUNDER, 8 P.M. ET[/h] December 31, 2013 · 6:54PM
TV: NBA-TV

  • Oklahoma City is hosting a New Year’s Eve game for the sixth straight year. The Thunder are 5-0 in those previous games. The Trail Blazers are coming in on the second night of a back-to-back, the Thunder are 7-0 when playing teams in that situation.
  • The OKC offense has been up and down in games without All-Star point guard Russell Westbrook. The Thunder scored just 89 points at Charlotte last Friday in the first game Westbrook missed after his most recent knee surgery but came back to score 117 Sunday night in a rout of the Rockets. In both games the defense was suffocating, allowing the Bobcats and Rockets to shoot a combined 37.0 percent.
  • Portland has lost two straight for the first time this season and defense has been the problem. The Trail Blazers allowed Miami and New Orleans to shoot a combined 52.8 percent. “We’re concerned about our defense,” said Blazers head coach Terry Stotts before the game, “it’s kind of trending in the wrong direction. We’ve lost two in a row and now we’ve gotta find a way to get a win.”
  • When these two teams played in Portland earlier this season LaMarcus Aldridge scored 38 points in the Trail Blazers’ 111-104 win. “We didn’t give him anything easy that night,” Thunder head coach Scott Brooks said in the back hallway, “we made him earn it, but still we have to do a better job and hopefully he misses some shots tonight.”

[h=2]NETS AT SPURS, 7 P.M. ET[/h] December 31, 2013 · 6:05PM
TV: League Pass

  • The Nets expect Andrei Kirilenko to play for the first time since Nov. 8. He’s missed 26 games due to back spasms. “He’ll give it a try,” coach Jason Kidd said. “We’ll probably give him about 10 to 12 minutes tonight. It’s kind of like training camp tonight, trying to get his legs under him. But he’ll be himself in the sense of slashing and doing what he does. But we can’t do too many minutes.”
  • Tony Parker played 35 minutes Sunday in the team’s home victory over Sacramento (three minutes short of a season-high), and he’s the only Spurs player to average 30 minutes per game (30.7 per game) this season. Considering that Parker played during the summer to lead France to the European championship, coach Gregg Popovich admitted he has some concerns over his workload. “We’ll keep our eye on that, but so far him being tired has not shown itself,” Popovich said.

[h=2]KINGS AT ROCKETS, 7 P.M. ET[/h] December 31, 2013 · 5:59PM
TV: League Pass

  • The Kings will look to put a difficult defeat in their previous game behind them when they square off against the Rockets on Tuesday at Toyota Center. Sacramento (9-20) was outscored 23-8 in the closing minutes of its 112-104 loss in San Antonio on Sunday, and the frustration boiled over after the final buzzer as shouting that came from inside the locker room could be heard in a nearby hallway. “Guys are still figuring out how to play with each other, even toward the end of games,” coach Mike Malone said. “As opposed to … guys going one-on-one, we have to try to make plays for each other. … I thought the San Antonio game was a great example of a team that’s been together for a decade with a core and a group that’s been together for nine games. You saw the difference.”

  • The Rockets (21-12), meanwhile, are attempting to move past their own tough setback after spending Sunday evening suffering a thorough 117-86 beatdown in Oklahoma City. Coach Kevin McHale emphasized the need for his team to play with great energy and conclude an inconsistent month on a high note. “Oklahoma City just beat the living [expletive] out of us,” McHale said. “We’ve got to come out defending and pushing the ball up and down [the court]. … Our shots affect us too much in our energy, our ability to run, our ability to rebound, our ability to do everything.”

  • With Houston leading the NBA in 3-point attempts per game this season, December’s perimeter shooting slump is a serious cause for concern. The Rockets’ shooting percentage from behind the arc for the season has slipped into the bottom 10 of the league’s rankings thanks to their NBA-worst 30.2-percent performance through 15 games this month.

  • The Kings’ Isaiah Thomas has been on quite a roll since joining Sacramento’s starting five, but Malone would like to see the third-year player develop his identity as a floor general. The 5-foot-9 point guard has scored at least 20 points in nine of his 11 starts, and he has shot 14-for-26 (53.8 percent) from 3-point range over his last four outings. Thomas’ streak of 23 consecutive games with at least one trey is the fourth longest in Kings’ history, leaving him 16 shy of Mitch Richmond‘s franchise record. “Isaiah has got to be an extension of me on the court,” Malone said. “He’s got to be able to make sure he’s getting guys looks, knowing what plays to call, what matchups and what to exploit, and how to get guys the ball where they’re most effective. That’s part of his maturation of going from a scoring guard off the bench to becoming a point guard and thinking as a play-making guard not only for himself, but also his teammates.”

Stan Van Gundy on the nets organization...

[h=1]Stan Van Gundy lays out Nets situation… and it’s not pretty[/h] Kurt Helin

Getty Images You can’t just buy an NBA title anymore.
You can spend a lot of money on stars but you need to do it wisely (see the Miami Heat), but you can’t just throw a random roster of stars together. Mark Cuban tried it and learned he needed to build a team differently, one with parts that meshed.
Mikhail Prokorov and the Nets are learning that this season — and will pay the price for that lesson for years to come.
Stan Van Gundy was on the Amani and Eytan show on NBC Sports Radio Monday night and summed up the situation well. He was asked if Brook Lopez’s season-ending injury could save Jason Kidd’s job as coach.
“I think with all the injuries it’s been hard to evaluate Jason Kidd. It’s been easy to jump on him not just because of the record, but the things coming out of their locker room, the situation with Lawrence Frank, the incident of spilling the drink on the floor. I mean this has looked like a bush league organization much of the year, they don’t play with much effort at all, a very uninspired team. But at the same time they had so many people hurt you just don’t know. And now they are not they are not going to be healthy all year…

“You can do whatever you want with the coaching situation but it is not going to change the situation with their roster. They just don’t have a lot of options — they don’t have draft picks, they are way over the salary cap. They are probably in the worst situation of any team in the NBA right now.”

There already have been reports that Kidd could be gone by the All-Star break if the Nets do not turn things around.
Two thoughts to add.
First, this quote comes from Stan Van Gundy, one of the NBA’s best available free agent coaches — you think you are going to get an elite coach to replace Kidd?
Second, as I have said before, if the Nets fire Kidd management needs to step up to the podium at the press conference and own this was their mistake. Jason Kidd may or may not pan out to be a good NBA coach, but any first-time coach is going to go through a learning curve. The Nets put Kidd in charge of a team with a one (maybe two) year window to really do some damage, then be retooled. There was no time for a learning curve, and we are talking about one of the most intense media markets in the nation. That’s not all on Kidd, it’s on the choice of putting him in there in the first place.

They really did a number on Toronto.
Toronto just wants them to lose games and not make the playoffs.
Toronto 5-1 ATS last 6 on the road.

This Nets team is an interesting specimen. They don't play anything resembling defense, but they also have absolutely no ability to create shots or score...

I don't see why anyone would bet on the nets. The spurs are just too fucking good. The nets team is still a mess and cannot compete with the spurs system if they come to play. After the brook injury I feel like the team lost out hope of being able to turn it on midseason. They very well may cover but it's just one of those matchups that can be a 20-30 point blowout

May just pass Toronto. Still have a problem with betting on the road when they know Indiana is on the way to Toronto. Tough day.

Probably right. Spurs are much better team.
Nets are showing some signs of life though.

they HAVE managed to get several open 5 footers, some layups, a handful of wide open looks at 3...just bricked all of them

Well it looks like my fears concerning OKC super shooting last game are coming true. Could have gone for a middle minus 4.5 plus 6

! minute and about 20 seconds and OKC has a full 12 points in the 4th quarter. Outstanding

Off topic but if i lived in Chicago I would NEVER buy a Bulls ticket
Today
Deng 33.16 minutes 6-14 no assists 4 turnover
Hinrich 27.57 minutes 1-9 3 assists and 1 turnover
Augustin 20 minutes 3 of 4 3 assists and no turnovers
Its not hard. Take a gun and shoot the manager

OKC ends with 3 3's
The day I learn to just run off games when I see my team shooting 57% in the earlier game I will be a better capper.
