i wouldn't say he's underrated at all.
Basketball pundits have been raving the way he plays, its just that when you play for Pop the ENTIRE team is involved.
When you think of the Spurs you know this is a unit.

Heck if we look at Lebron and the Heat, if people don't pay enough attention, they wouldn't realize Chris Bosh is actually having one of his best seasons but hey
when you are playing next to LJ you're going to always play second fiddle.

But I really think he doesn't get enough attention because well...in the media's view he's boring. The guy doesn't have crazy antics, tattoos, or a bad rap. He's just a simple guy that is fundamentally sound. Crazy how that doesn't get him enough attention.

It would be a joke if TP doesn't get MVP, looks at the injuries the Spurs dealt with all year. They are still 1st in the NBA. TP 2nd most points in the paint behind D-wade...wtf? This is a damn PG. Sure they still got old Tim Duncan, aging Ginobilli, and bunch of bench players.

LBJ has D-wade and Chris Bosh whom are both in their prime, tackle it with the best three point shooter of all time

Comparing the strength of the Eastern and Western conferences is not the fair way to judge the value of these two players. Parker has had the same teammates with the same coach, who is by the way the best coach in the league. Parker and Pop are completely in tune with each other, and Parker gets added value from playing under his tutelage that few other players in the league have the benefit of. He's a phenomenal player, and I've even gone as far as saying that I think he's the 4th best player in the league right now, so it's not like I'm hating on him. That said, the Spurs win all of these games more because of their coaching than anything. You don't play a road b2b in Chicago without Parker Duncan Ginobili and Jackson and win by 15 points, that just doesn't happen unless you are a well oiled machine.

Everything the Heat do well is because of Lebron. It's not the system, it's not the roster continuity. Nobody in the league is better at guarding point guards, shooting guards, small forwards, or power forwards than Lebron right now. He can guard the other team's best player, regardless of position, and do it better than anybody else in the NBA regardless of who it is he has to guard that night. He is averaging 27 points on 55% shooting while orchestrating the rest of the entire offense. Every single night, he analyzes the matchup, and makes the unique decision for that particular night to play a particular way to help his team win specifically on that night. It's not a system that is just better than other teams, it's like every team that plays the Heat just gets a nuclear bomb called Lebron dropped on them. Parker is a phenomenal, EXTREMELY valuable player, but to compare his value to Lebron's is simply disrespectful. We're witnessing what will ultimately go down as without debate, at the very least a top 5 all time player, in his athletic prime, completely dominating. Different altogether from what Parker has to offer.
