That showing by WVU...

Cherry Picker

Pretty much a regular
Let me first start by saying that I had zero action on the game.

I have never seen such a misguided approach to a game in my entire life. Bill Stewart is a fucking moron. That clock management late in the fourth quarter was some of the worst I've ever seen. Their kicker, McAfee, has range (I know, I know, he missed a 23 yarder at the end), how do you not at least try to give him a chance there?

All that, plus watching WVU is literally like watching pee-wee football. All they do is run. I honestly don't think that they could throw a pass 10 yards if their lives depended on it.

Very sad, pathetic showing. Stewart is a waste, any one of us here could do a better job on the sidelines than him, and to think he just signed a six year deal for all that money is nauseating.

:hang:Rant over.

ETG, it just blows my mind... there are honestly thousands and thousands of better options out there, at the HIGH SCHOOL LEVEL! Unreal...

I was on Colorado heavy, but I totally agree. The players will start doubting the new coach. They are now aware of what they had last year. The game could have gone either way and the Colorado defense did its job. The coaching was obvious that they were playing not to lose , instead of trying to win. How do you NOT make one throw in the end zone????????.

how with 2 timeouts and 1 minute, do you use your first timeout w/ 4 seconds left. Why do you want to go to OT on the road? Why do you keep pounding your 170lb RB's up the middle all game when they run wide as they please?

Tough 2 watch and I was watching w/ 1 kid who bet WV and 1 kid who just graduated from there

you just pulled this out of your ass because the players have known Stewart for years. The play calling sucked but the coaching isnt being doubted. In fact the reason White stayed this year was because of Stewart, no one is doubting the coaching and he is a player coached and loved

ETG - love your statement, its bullshit. He isnt fired unless they have a losing season, and they wont have a losing season.

cmon, if this team loses 2 more games, its a terrible yr. This coach is a nobody who has no idea what is going on in the game. Would you want him coaching Pitt, ehh that might be a tie anyway

I wouldn't be surprised if we see another lawsuit against Michigan, for RR leaving.

Another round of liquidated damages, and punitive damages for hiring Mrs. Stewart.

And I hit CU +3 and WVU -3 2h. No sour grapes here.

No, hes worse then the idiot in Pittsburgh. Stewart is a terrible coach, but there is no way they fire him on a whim because of a down season. Especially since the Big East is way way way way down, they will put together a decent season. This team doesnt have to much anyway. Slaton never knew how to throw and they lost all their WR. The school looks pathetic if they fire him after on year.

This is all on the COACHES.

This team had 2 WEEKS to prepare themselves for this game.

Piss poor performance

that contract is weak though, they can get outa it. im just saying, if ur WVU and you want to save ur program, you get rid of him, otherwise the seasons and performances are going to get worse from here on out for a program thats been consistent force for 5-6 yrs

If you ever played sports with a coach who removed your ability to win because he second guessed the player potentials or never realized them, then you would have never made that statement to me. The coaches are the under-achievers in this game tonight... Not the players! Right now the only thing being pulled out - was a loss by WV because of coaching inadequacies...Not one shot at the end zone???

cmon, no one is worse than Mr. Porn stache (Pitt's Dave Wannabe)
Just look at his face
Bill Callahan-2nd place
Art Shell-3rd place
Joe Bungle,etc
I think you know where this is going

This game did wonders for their recruiting, LOL. Somebody above said it not sure who but how the hell can you not throw the ball? They better hope they never get down 3 td's or it's definately over for them.

Everyone is hitting on the Offense/Coaching , How about that defense !!!! I knew they were bad but damn.

If Cu came out the 2nd half and played , This game wouldve been a blowout. CU offense was playing like they were up 40 after the half.

Ill be on Marshall next week !!!

I had WVU last night but it goes way beyond that. I have never played football in my entire life but last night's game was one of the most ridiculous things I have ever seen in my life. Colorado should have taken WVU to the woodshed in the 1st half. Why they stopped throwing is beyond me? They would have been up by 28 in the 1st half had they stuck to their gameplan. I am not even going to start on Stewart. I think there are plenty of responses in this thread to make up for his JV coaching. The sad thing is that I am not even mad I lost the bet. I feel bad for the millions across the country that had to watch that atrocity last night. The "Blackout" was cool though. This just made things a whole lot better for my Bulls in the Big East.

They finish 6-6 or so. Which means ECU victory over them isn't all that impressive.

Precisely...EC isnt as good as people think. Its going to take a few more games for the bettors to realize it. Im all over NC state this week...

Player's coaches are immensly popular... until they lose. Very rare is the player's coach who succeeds consistently (Pete Carroll, Mack Brown).

BTW, your statement COMPLETELY answers why Stewart was HIRED... AND why he will be FIRED once the season is over. This year, Pat White could stay. Next year, he'll be gone regardless.

So will Stewart.

West Virginia saw the success Stewart had against OU and felt that, by keeping White, that Stewart could continue that magic one year.

Wrong. He's SO bad that he completely fucked up everything that RR built AND was able to do it BEFORE CONFERENCE PLAY!

they were so much better than Colorado too...

if he was at OSU, Florida, USC, and any real program he would be lucky to make it the whole year...

I have no problem with the last TO though...Chris Fowler is an arrogant prick. I used to really like him untill I started hearing him on these weekday games. Why would you call a TO with 14 secs left on 4th down? So you get stopped (they did on several 3rd and shorts) and then give colorado a play or 2 from the 50? The first TO should have come with about 40 seconds left though...

It is amazing how these coaches (high school, college, and pros) are so bad with clock management! That is the difference in 2-3 games a year!

UWV took an extremely patient approach at the end of the 4th quarter but still were aggressive enough to almost steal the win at Colorado. They only had 43 yards passing in their "new and improved," passing game but I think the coach had his reasons for this. The passing attack was back firing at very critical junctures all night long. For example there was that fumble (after the catch)that Colorado converted for a touchdown. There also was plenty of penalties on 3rd down and long(passing situations) leading to a 3 of 13 conversion rate. Still UWV came up with a brilliant and dare I say gutsy play midway through the 4th quarter. Inside the Colorado 40 Pat White threw a lateral to Bradley Starks, who looked downfield and saw a wide-open Jock Sanders. Sadly for Starks the pass was short but they were still near field goal range until the 2 penalties on the 2nd and 3rd down plays forced a punt.
Yes I question the play-calling on West Virginia's final possession in regulation facing a tired Colorado secondary. I guess he decided to play for overtime unless someone just messed everything up. He hoped he could rush it in O.T.but who knew Colorado was so tough on 3rd or 4th and short. Then there is that overtime 3rd and one play for -2 yards from the Colorado 4. Again the call is a bit baffling but I guess coach Stewart was thinking he would hold the buffalos to a tying field goal since they hadn't scored for 3 quarters. I guess what I am saying is it's one game that could have gone either way and coach Stewart will not be fired. Sure he has work to do but with over 300+ yards rushing and a pretty strong defense with a pretty solid Q.B. he can do better. I'm betting they will!
PS If I had bet on UWV I admit I might view it somewhat differently

You will ahve a hard time convincing me that any coach could step in after Rich Rodriguez and succeed. Rich doesn't recruit football players, he recruits athletes. Then he plugs them into a system that allows for incompetince as long as you have the speed to make up for it. Bill Stewart has no chance of succeeding with such a band of idiots with very very low football IQs. He has a QB that has no ability to throw the ball. In fact he threw a hail mary to the ten yard line from the 50! Every year Rodriguez was here, he had at least one receiver that could stretch the field. They have nobody this year.

This is Bill Stewart's fault to a point, but if you don't run Rodriguez's system to a T then all you have is a bunch of fast retards that can't execute in the clutch. I do agree with his miserable playcalling in the final minute of regulation. Pat McAfee is an animal from distance. He shares the record for lngest FG at Heinz Field with Adam Vinatieri at 49 yards. And that is probably the hardest place to kick in all of football.

I agree the coaching was terrible. I cant understand why there wasnt one play action pass play called. They would of killed the buffs with that, look how open the guy was with the pitch and pass if only that 3rd string qb had an arm.

It's the same old thing with Pat White .... he is great when they are dominating a team but when he gets hit in the mouth and the going gets tough ... he chokes.

i think they are a miserable 3-5 in games decided by ten or less since the start of 2006
