I don't know if I am actually betting any of these games but I did break some down so I figured I would post the writeups here rather than start my own thread. There is no opinion involved here, just straight facts and numbers. I think a problem I am having is that I making up my mind before capping the game and then finding the numbers to support it so I'm going to try switching things up a little maybe.

2:05pm....Cubs +101 / White Sox -111.....O 8.5 -125 / U 8.5 +105:

Cubs have taken the first two games of the series and have won 4/5 in the series this yr. Cubs are 12-10 in June, WS are 5-16 in the month and losers of 4 straight. Cubs are 19-19 on the road, WS are 16-20 at home.

Marshall L3 = 2-0 (3-0), 3.50era, 18ip, 16h, 1.17whip, 9k, 5bb.
Marshall Road = 1-1, 3.71era, 17ip, 13h, 1.18whip, 16k, 7bb.
Marshall Career vs. Sox = 0-1, 6.00era, 1g, 6ip, 8h, 4er, 6k, 3bb.
Overall OBP of .276 on the yr.

Contreras L3 = 1-2 (1-2), 6.75era, 17.1ip, 19h, 1.44whip, 8k, 6bb.
Contreras Home = 3-3, 6.03era, 34.1ip, 40h, 23k, 12bb.
Contreras Career vs. Cubs = 1-1, 4.79era, 3g, 20.2ip, 18h, 3bb, 11k.
Overall OBP of .340 on the yr.

Other SP notes on Contreras:"It hasn't hurt that he has an average of 6.47 runs of support on those starts. But what the Sox are more focused on is his 5-7 record this season. The right-hander admitted after his latest win that he has been having trouble commanding his fastball, and his velocity is down a bit. He maintained that he is healthy, but wants to change his workout to focus less on upper-body work and more in his legs to try and get more push. " - sportsline.com

Marshall Last Start = ND, 4ip, 5h, 4er, 4hr @ Tex w/ 76pitches. (Kinsler hit 2 and Wilkerson hit 1hr)
Contreras Last Start = W, 6.2ip, 8h, 5er @ Flor w/ 103pitches.

Dempster is doubtful for Sundays game and did miss Saturdays game. Howry closed for the Cubs and has 3.89era in 34innings this season. Erstad just went to the DL. Dye was resting in Saturdays game and is questionable for Sunday..

Umpire = Bucknor and the home team is 11-3 and 8-5 O/U this yr

Other Notes: Cubs will go for the sweep on Sunday and the last time they swept was 5/4 - 5/6 vs. the Nationals. Last time WS were swept was 6/11 - 6/13 vs. Philly. WS were also swept on 5/28 - 5/30 vs. Minny. WS are 1-9 in their last 10games vs. LHP. Cubs are 5-5 in their last 10games vs. RHP.

2:05pm....Royals +163 / Brewers -173....O 10 -105 / U 10 -115:

Brewers have taken the first 2 games of this series and would be going for a sweep of the Royals. Royals are 10-11 in the month of June and losers of 4 straight games. Brewers are 13-7 in June and winners of 9 of last 10 games. Royals on the road are 14-22 and the Brewers are 28-12 at home this season.

***Perez vs. Brewers = Counsell (.44 in 9ab), Estrada (.000 in 7ab), Hall (.143 in 7ab), Jenkins (.571 in 7ab)
Overall OBP of .377 on the yr

Perez last start: W, 6ip, 6h, 3er, 3bb, 1k, 91pitches **avenged a loss a weak earlier to the Cards where he lasted 3ip-10h-6er..

Galardo this yr: 1-0, 4.26era, 6.1ip, 4h, 4k, 3bb, 102pitches, 1.11whip, and .269obp

That was Galardo's first and only start of the yr and in came at home. He gave up 1er in the first inning and 2er in the 7th.

Other SP notes: "Gallardo will be pitching for his rotation spot every time out" -sportsline.com

Royals vs. RHP: .259overall, .254away, .276 in L10
Brewers vs. LHP: .279overall, .311home, .324 in L10

Royal Bullpen: 3.38overall, 2.81 in L3

Umpire = Schrieber and the home team is 8-6 as well as the O/U at 8-6.

Other Notes: Last time the Brewers swept a team was last series at home vs. the Giants. Brewers have done this twice before at home when they swept Pitt and Washington in back to back series from 5/4 - 5/9. Last time the Royals were swept was by the Mariners and Orioles in back to back series from 5/25 - 5/30..Brewers are 7-3 in their L10 vs. LHP and 9-1 at home in their L10 vs. LHP. Royals are 3-7 in their L10 vs. RHP and 3-7 in their L10 on the road vs. RHP.

Chicago White Sox:
3-5 vs. LHP @ home, 5-12 vs. LHP overall

New York Yankees @ San Francisco Giants UNDER 9 +108

1-8 vs. LHP on the road. Facing Noah Lowry tomorrow.
11-13 vs. RHP @ home, 20-31 vs. RHP overall. Facing Mike Mussina tomorrow. Day game so Bonds playing is in question.

Yankees hit .275 vs. LHP, but Damon and Giambi both hit .296 and .283 respectively.

Giants hit .252 vs. RHP

Cuzzi does call a higher % of strikes than the avg umpire, on a year to year basis.

Wind is projected to be blowing out to RF @ 18 mph so that is a negative, otherwise stats indicate an Under

The examples of sweeps above were away for WS and at home for Cubs. I am not happy at the idea of betting on WS since they suck but currently seeing at least 4 angles pointing to that bet so we will see what else is available. By the way when is someone going to mention Milwaukee facing an average leftie?

Detriot Tigers -118 (Miller v. James)
Braves are 7-11 v. LHP @ home.
Tigers are 9-4 vs. LHP away.
Do I really have to go into stats here that would say why I would prefer to back the Tigers at this price?

Guccione seems to hover around avg near 63% strikes called over the past several years.

no line offered on this game yet but check this out

Tampa Bay Devil Rays
12-3 vs LHP @ home facing Hong-Chih Kuo tomorrow
but EDWIN JACKSON is pitching, but again...
Los Angeles Dodgers are 11-13 vs RHP on the road.

Milwaukee Brewers
13-3 vs. LHP @ home

Boston Red Sox
20-6 vs. RHP away

St Louis Cardinals
2-7 vs. LHP @ home

2:15pm....Phillies -169 / Cards +159.... O/U 9.5 -110

Series is split 1-1 right now with the Cards taking the game on Saturday. Phillies are 12-9 in the month of June and 19-19 on the road this season. Cards are 11-9 in June and 17-18 at home.

Hamels L3 = 1-1 (2-1), 4.95era, 20ip, 24h, 17k, 2bb, 6HR, 1.30whip.

Other News on Hamels:"Hamels said he struggled to throw his fastball inside and couldn't locate his curveball, leaving the Indians to sit on his changeup." -sportsline.com

Hamels Last start = L, 5ip, 8h, 6er, 0bb, 4k @ Clev

Other News on Wells: "The St. Louis Cardinals sent struggling Kip Wells to the bullpen to give him time to clear his head. But they were out of arms, and the right-hander responded with two scoreless innings in a 7-6 victory over the Kansas City Royals on Wednesday night. "You don't really want to use him in that kind of a game unless you have to, and we had to," pitching coach Dave Duncan said. "He responded and gave us two great innings....Wells, who has the most losses in the major leagues, was scratched from his start on Tuesday only three hours before the game. "You're sitting down there most of the game knowing you're probably not going to get in unless this kind of situation transpires," Wells said. "To have a good result is a pretty good feeling." - sportsline.com

Wells Last Start = L, 1.1ip, 3h, 6er, 1k @ KC

Phillies vs. RHP: .275overall, .268road, .304 L10 games.
Cards vs. LHP: .257overall, .274home, .322 L10 games.

Phillies Bullpen: 4.67era overall, 9.55era L3 games.
Cards Bullpen: 3.08era overall, 3.71era L3 games.

Umpire = Randy Marsh who is 11-6 for the home team and 6-11 O/U this yr.

Other Notes: Hamels has given up 17hr this season and 6 in his last 3 games. Hamels gave up 5er to Houston and than gave up 1er in the next start to Cinci, he gave up 5er to Florida and than gave up 3er the next start to ATL. It will be interesting to see how he responds after giving up 6runs to the Indians, a season high, last start. Cards are 5-5 in their last 10 games vs. LHP. Phillies are 6-4 in their last 10 games vs. RHP. Wells success vs. the Phillies is something to pay attention to as well.

The examples of sweeps above were away for WS and at home for Cubs. I am not happy at the idea of betting on WS since they suck but currently seeing at least 4 angles pointing to that bet so we will see what else is available. By the way when is someone going to mention Milwaukee facing an average leftie?

I did.

Brewers are 7-3 in their L10 vs. LHP and 9-1 at home in their L10 vs. LHP

I see. Can hardly blame you for wanting to bet against the WS since Marshal does look like the better pitcher and has a much better day era. I am going to go on to other games but I will say again that there are at least 4 clear angles pointing in the other direction and am now done with that subject.

no idea, thats what I just saw on bodogs site (shows who's a Lefty and who's a Righty, dont judge me), unless Penny was a recent change that I'm not aware of.

BoSox might be 20-6 vs. RHP but they are prob facing the best RHP in the game. The offense hasn't shown up this road trip in SD because they have faced some good pitching as well w/ Maddux and Young

I dunno, I just saw Penny on the sportsline probable pitchers thats why I asked.

Won't see Beckett as a dog often...

Penny is getting an extra days rest to face the Diamondbacks on Monday. Kuo had a short outting Wednesday lasting 1 2/3 innings so he is starting on 3 days rest.

The under in the Giants game I liked at first but man those bullpens got crushed today. Have to think the Yanks don't have much available besides Mo. Giants used even more than the Yanks

Thank you Renew...To counter, won't see Peavy -124 often either.

:an_roll_laugh:What am I supposed to say? lol I'd rather take a dog, but that's just how I bet. If it was SD @ Bos I'd probably take SD if Peavy was a dog. That's just my style.

I will though, probably back EDWIN and the D-RAYS. That 13-3 mark vs. LHP @ home, INSANE and we all know about the Dodgers troubles in interleague play. He might actually be favored again, I think Jackson was favored one time before, that's pretty sad.

nah i'm not touching that game, my luck the sox score 5 off him while they score 2 off maddux and 0 off young

Is Montague a club member. Really like the Over for the A's game. Kennedy is a walking machine. 78 IP/34BB/30SO

Last year Monty was 15-6 O/U and this year 5-10 O/U

from my understand its based on percentage of strikes called or strikes vs balls... im not too familiar with the # shortline uses because they are different than the ones I see on covers. you have to ask him who a club member is.

Out of the teams going for Sweeps tomorrow, who do you feel is most likely..

Tigers
BlueJays
Mets
Brewers
Angels
Cubs
Rangers

I think maybe the Brewers are my #1

why havnet they opened the dodgers tampa bay game line yet cuz im gonna pound the fuck outta over like every square alive!

1:10pm....A's +135 / Mets -145....O/U 8.5 -110:

Mets lead the series 2-0 after pulling Saturdays game out in the 9th inning. The Mets are just 3-8 in their L11 as favorites. Mets are 20-18 at home and the A's are 18-16 on the road. A's are 6-3 in their last 9 IL road games. A's are 13-8 in the month of June and the Mets are 6-15 in June.

Kennedy L3: 1-0, 4.76era, 17ip, 20h, 9k, 8bb, 1.65whip, .368obp
Kennedy Road: 1-3, 4.54era, 33.2ip, 30h, 15k, 17bb, 1.40whip, .343obp
Overall OBP is .343 on the yr w/ a whip of 1.42

Maine L3: 1-1, 3.20era, 19.2ip, 17h, 8k, 4bb, 3hr, 1.07whip, .266obp
Maine Home: 2-3, 3.38era, 42.2ip, 42h, 30k, 16bb, 1.36whip, .320obp

Other SP Notes: Maine last 3 home starts = 1-1, 20.1ip, 15h, 5er, 13k, 2bb

A's vs. RHP: .253overall, .268away, .285 L10
Mets vs. LHP: .302overall, .293home, .235 L10

A's Bullpen: 4.55overall, 4.91 L3
Mets Bullpen: 3.76overall, 4.63 L3

Umpire = Montague is 10-5 for the home team and 5-10 O/U this yr.

Other notes: Mets will be going for the sweep at home but have come upon hard times in June. Mets hit LHP at .302 on the yr overall but are just 2-8 in their L10 vs. LHP. Mets have not swept a team since the Florida Marlins on 5/25-5/27 and they have not swept at home this yr. A's have not been swept once this yr and have lost 3 games in a row twice this yr (4/25-4/27 vs.Sea and TB) and (5/20-5/22 vs. SF and CHW), those numbers surprised me a lot. A's are 5-5 vs. RHP in their L10 games. Oakland is 3-10 when Kennedy starts for them

1:05pm...Rockies +105 / Jays -115....O 10.5 +100 / U 10.5 -120:

Blue Jays have won the first two games and both teams have combined for a lot of runs. Rockies are 17-18 away and 13-7 in June. Blue Jays are 23-18 at home and 11-9 in June.

Fogg L3: 1-1 (3-0), 4.76era, 17ip, 22h, 11k, 3bb, .333obp, 1.47whip.
Fogg Road: 2-2, 3.89era, 39.1ip, 44h, 25k, 16bb, 6hr, .356obp, 1.53whip.
**Fogg has given up 8hr total, 6 on the road. Rockies are 6-6 when he pitches.

McGowan L3: 1-1 (1-2), 6.14era, 14.2ip, 19h, 12k, 6bb, .373obp, 1.70whip.
McGowan Home: 2-1, 6.14era, 22ip, 26h, 20k, 7bb, .337obp, 1.50whip.

Rockies vs. RHP: .272overall, .259away, .325 L10
Jays vs. RHP: .249overall, .244home, .281 L10

Rockies Bullpen: 3.84era overall, 3.32era L3
Jays Bullpen: 2.86era overall, 6.17era L3

Umpire = Gorman and the home team is 7-8, the O/U is 9-5.

Other notes: Jays will be going for the Sweep here and the last time they did that was 5/14-5/16 at home vs. Baltimore. Rockies have not been swept this yr and have lost three straight games since 5/30-6/1..Prior to that it did not occur since 4/19-4/21... McGowan was torched last start but put together 5 straight starts of 3er or less before that. His first three starts of the yr were 5-4-5 earned runs.

Now for my opinion.. I have decided I am going to bet but I am going to do it much smaller than my normal bets. I am going to goto sleep on these picks, wakeup and decide if I still want to bet them.

Brewers -1:

They win at home, they don't lose to LHP very often, they are hot right now and capable of the sweep. Gallardo was sharp last start minus the 7th inning when he prob should of been pulled anyway. Have to play -1 here to bring it out to -131 rather than lay all that juice.

Mets -1:

This play comes out to even money and that to me is value. I don't have a problem backing Maine and although the A's have not been swept yet this yr, there is a first for everything. Maine really hasn't pitched all that bad in his last 3, just had some tough breaks and the A's are 3-10 when Kennedy throws. Mets need this game to start turning around June.

Rockies +110:

They got me today but going with the opposite logic as above, I like the Rockies to avoid the sweep here since they have been able to do that all yr. Fogg needs to keep the ball in the park, not sold on McGowan keeping the Rockie hitters under control.

i agrre with the rockies.. i m a big jays fan... but the rockies hit good fastball pitchers (schill and beckett) well, a TT over is also an intriguing bet

These are where my plays will come from, in order of preference:

SD -121 While it is true you won't get Beckett as a dog often, neither will you see Peavey being this low. Not having a DH is severely limiting the BoSox offense. Oakland is in the same boat, but I had to lose 2 units to figure that out. Anyway, I am going to stab on the Padres here, but will wait and hope that some Sox Money will push this down a little. If it doesn't go my way, I may still get involved depending on where it lands. Under tempts me too here, but it seems too logical.

Det -116 Figure this should come down as the rookie was beaten in his last outing. Braves are hurting offensively as of late, but they could turn it around, once the Jones boys get in a groove. Miller was not the problem in his last outing vs Philly. If a SP I am on gives up 3 ER, I am not displeased. Braves his righties better than they do lefties, but they ain't really hitting much right now. Will see what Troutman offers as the resident Braves info guy.

Cubs +103 & u9 Took Marshall under 10.5 his last time out vs the Rangers. Looking at it again here as the White Sox are still not putting up and runs with any amount of frequency. This being a hometown rivalry makes me wonder about the possible sweep aspect, but not overly so. I just can't find any good reason to not back the Cubs and/or under here.

Milw -174 Isn't it a bit early for Gallardo to be this big of fav against a team that usually pulls out an unsuspecting win when one least expects it. KC has been decent enough in June, but Milw is the only way I can go here, if anything. That big price on Gallardo is keeping me away for now, but I do think he pitches good again, I just hate this big price. Maybe a RL is in order.

I like Tampa again today. I hate that it is edwin Jackson on the hill, but I like Tampa again. Will see how much I like them when the line finally comes out.

Pit +151 Probably one of my favorite pitchers to bet on is Gorzelanny. If he can get a little run support, and facing COlon that is a possibility, I think he has a pretty good shot here. Will see if the Bucs bullpen is in decent shape to see if this could be a 5 inning play.

Florida +205 Fading Johan has been profitable thus far. I haven't been doing it, I am just saying it has been. It should be close to when he "turns it on", but this could be the situation where he isn't quite there yet. Scores are so low when he pitches that a 2-1 dog is always attractive to me.

Outside of those, I am open to be talked into something.

Just noticed something a little odd. Most of you are aware that the Cardinals going into Saturday were 6-0 after being shut out. I asked myself what happens after the win. The first 6 times they lost the next game by 2 or more runs and then won the game after that in 5 of the 6 cases. So the script would be bet against them tomorrow and then consider them seriously on the first game vs the Mets if you trust the trend.

You guys are bringing it today!!!

This is by far the most informative thread that I have read in a long time.....Thanks for the info Hope it pays!!!!!!! GL with your plays

Just fade whatever the hell I pick. Not only am I cold as hell, I haven't won on Sunday in the whole season..

Any1 got thoughts on the Mutts/A's? I just don't know if I can pass up the Mets -1 which is even money. A's haven't been swept this yr but they are hurting w/out a DH and that offense disappears for streaks.

Excellent thread guys. I like several for today, even though Pinny's down and it's very likely I won't be able to place any bets.

I will do writeups later in my thread, these are leans, some of them plays already:

SD ML
MIL -1
Mets ML
Cubs ML

Btw I hate whining but... nah nevermind. Jesus Christ. :D

Best game available. Kennedy is a walking machine=Runs scored today.

Best game available. Kennedy is a walking machine=Runs scored today.

I wouldn't go that far to say that he is a walking machine. There are guys much worse in baseball than him at that.

5/20 = 7.1ip-3er-1bb
5/26 = 4.2ip-7er-5bb
6/1 = 8ip - 1er - 4bb
6/6 = 7ip - 2er - 2bb
6/12 = 5ip - 4er - 2bb
5/17 = 5ip - 3er -4bb

Yea he walks some guys but he has only real paid for it once on 5/26 vs. Balt.

Want to throw another lean out there..

Mariners -130:

Arroyo has been terrible so far, the sad part is that he beat me 2 starts ago vs. the Angels when he only gave up 3er. He has however given up 6er or more in 5 of his last 6 starts and has lost his last 6 games.

"According to The Sports Xchange notes: RHP Bronson Arroyo is taking his recent struggles seriously -- six consecutive losses -- by canceling his scheduled singing/guitar "Perfect Pitch" concert July 1. "The timing isn't good right now," he said. "My body is a little banged up, and I'm trying to help us win baseball games." - sportsline.com

Bautista is 3-4 w/ 5.72era at home and those numbers I don't like to back usually but he has pitched pretty solid over his last 3 games. His last game was at home vs Pitt (5.1ip-2er) prior to that was on 6/1 vs. Texas (6.1ip-2er) and prior to that was on 5/18 vs. SD (6.2ip-1er) so I don't feel that those number are too accurate, they are inflated due to a bad start vs. NYY and Oakland the first game of the yr.

GL on the one ETG - I like the Mets here.

Interesting side note about the Mariners/Reds - Arroyo has something like a 0.54 ERA in 17 career innings against the Ms. Don't normally put much stock into this stuff, just an interesting stat.

I saw that as well but these are the only #'s I got as far as Arroyo vs. Mariners...

Guillen = .000 in 8ab
Beltre = .600 in 5ab
Ichiro = .143 in 7ab
Vidro = .750 in 4ab
Sexson = .250 in 4ab
Ibanez = .333 in 3ab
Broussard = .000 in 9ab

No Prince Fielder or Hardy in the Brewer lineup..ouch no bet there for me, not with that line
