Stupid question

The o/u for the game is 57. But each qtr o/u when aggregated only adds up to 52 (10.5, 17, 10, 14.5). How can this be?

Where there are hooks, they're basically saying 10 or 13/14 for the 1st quarter and 14 or 17/20/21 quarter for key numbers...obviously they are shading overs on both because of the hooks, 10 and 17 are just flat key numbers for the other 2 quarters

Because oddsmakers know there will be variance from every quarter total. Basically what KJ said
