SO...How'd Your Team Do First Half?!

And What Do you see after all star break?!

A's- Listened to Sunday's game on the radio. Nothing happened till the 9th...Then Street Came In...:4_6_202v: At least the A's made some noise in the bottom, but to no avail.

First half thoughts...Good season so far...I never look at an A's season like a bad one before the season starts...I'm one of those fans that just wants to see that...

1.The guys are trying.
2.Managment cares bout the team...

Good and Good.

Pitching has been good, except for Street. Harden looks like he's lost 4-5 MPH on his fast ball so looks like Beane traded him at the right time. A's needs more runs scored...(Only getting those two in the first hurt, as well as 0 Runs after loading the bases with one out B O 9.) Frank Thomas was heating up big before he went down, and Cust is hitting HR's all over the place...But...Well...

Overall, couldn't ask for much more than - the injuries...Those ALWAYS seem to hurt the A's...

What I see for Second Half Of Season...A's keeping it close and keeping it real...Get some bats back from injury, and pitching needs to stay stellar.
Oh yeah...How long till Street is traded?!

PHILLIES- I've never been more pissed at this team than I am at the moment. They had a chance to run away with it, faced pretty much no adversity and are barely ahead over teams that had to deal with more problems.

Having said that, the Phillies are the posterboys for a second half team. If you told me in March this would be where they're at before the All Star game, I'd be thrilled. However there is always context and I just don't like how they've played in the last month. Maybe they need time to refocus during the break.

Howard is picking his game up and might carry the team. Rollins is the key though. He has been extremely disappointing thus far.If Rollins puts it together the Phillies are a playoff lock. If not, then who knows.

The team needs another starter and a right handed bat. Honestly I think the right handed bat is the bigger need because the Phillies are going to have to out-hit teams to win anyway. You might as well maximize a strength.

My team is the Reds....

Fun team to watch....

Bad mgr and GM (jury is still out on jocketty) douchebag Dusty.......

Getting ready for the annual "right after All Star game Cinci dump cool players"........and especiallly where Jr Griffey will end up......

Hoping Tampa or the Cubs and then be back with sweet Lou Piniella. :D

If Ken Griffey ended up with the Cubs id shit myself, but that would never happen

I dunno Bubba.........

He has a short list of where he wants to go, it has to be a contender, and Wrigley is on that list......

Goodness knows that Piniella loves him.

Griffey has that no trade clause that he says he's willing to waive.....The Reds are obligated to pay him 16.7 million dollars next year if he doesn't........They sure as shit don't want any part of that....He's been there long enough....

Seattle wants him, but that just doesn't seem like anywhere he really wants to go.........

Tampa is 85 miles from his house.............

I think your Cubs are fine without him, and it's not like Wrigley Field is a place that needs him for a ticket draw seeing as how they sell out every game........

He is better then Mark De Rosa, I just dont think that the Reds would trade him inside the division

I am pleased with the showing of my A's. I think the trade with the Cubs brings in some young talent, as usual per a Beane trade, and I hope these new guys can contribute (Gallagher had a nice start).

LAA spent money like a fiend to revamp their roster, but Oakland is hanging tough. I think the division boils down to these two in the end. I just hope Oakland has the depth to continue to compete, as injuries can cause a late-season dropoff in Oakland.

I'm sure Street is on Beane's radar. When he reaches the tipping point, Beane will take action. What I like about rooting for a team like Oakland is that I have confidence in management's ability.

Great management + effort from players = good chance for success

GL to our boys in the second half of the season, Vap!

the white sox are the shit... im so happy after what i had to live through last year w/ the sox, bulls, and bears.

The marlins have been such a pleasant surprise. hopefully when annibel and jj get it back together look out.. the staff will be loaded.. Still weak at catcher and closer but those issues will be addressed. (i hope) Never count the fish out they are young and scrappy and will fight the mets ad phils all the way down the stretch

The Orioles are doin what they do every year around this time. They start out great then all of a sudden the bullpen shits the bed. I hope they can get back on track because theyre starters have not done too bad

Pretty excited about the Reds honestly...

Only four games under and alot has gone wrong for them...injuries at the SS position with multiple players going down..

Harang hurt for over a month really, etc.

Positives:

Volquez obviously - future legitimate number 1

Cueto - started well, then hit rough patch, but he has his see legs again (two years younger than Volquez and ahead of Volquez pace from timeframe)

Votto - up and down put you can see the potential

Bruce - second month through the league has been an eye opener but reeks superstar

Hairston, Jr - little light has kicked on in his prime

Jared Burton - closer of the future

Negatives:

Harang - needs to lose those 20 lbs again and has been overworked last few years...rest him

Corey Patterson - LMFAO @ Dusty

Getting rid of GM for no reason - very raw deal after proving himself after the Majeski/Bray/Clayton disaster

Things like bright for the future honestly. A rotation of Volquez, Harang, Cueto, Thompson, etc looks pretty darn good. Good young core players in Phillips, Votto, Bruce, Kepp, Edwin, etc. Bullpen is improved. And will have money to spend. Will have 20 million to work w/ after Griffey and Dunn are gone and may be able to make a move at another top of the line starter (hopefully)

reds have done well.. harriston has really made that offense go he has been great so far.. i agree with u about time to get rid of griff and dunn.. alonso is going to hit the cover off the ball when he makes it to the bigs in 2 years

Yup..many people see Votto as a left fielder anyways...so him blocking Alonso at first base isn't a problem at all really.
