Road teams are 6 - 2 ATS and 5 - 3 SU in Game 1 and could have easily went 7 - 1 or even 8 - 0 ATS wise...

Monday/Tuesday NBA system:
First 2 rounds of NBA playoffs, game #2 for home team if that team lost game #1 by 4-8 points: 14-0 SU/ATS. Won all games by 6+, 13/14 by double digits, last 10 by 13+.
Two games from this system last season, both times home team covered by 20+pts.
PLAY ON: Clippers -8, Indiana -7, Toronto-4.5. (big plays)

On the other hand, GSW are 13 - 1 ATS in the first round of the playoffs in the last 10 years (2 - 0 in the series).

I expect Hibbert to play a lot less.

I also expect them to play a lot more small ball.

On top of that, I think that Hawks had a really good day from outside, forcing Pacers to spread and Teague used it to the fullest driving to the hoop.

I also really like Hill. I think he is the toughest player in the league at the moment. I think he can play much better defense than he did in Game 1.

We saw that btw already in the fourth quarter, with Hibbert getting benched.

Vogel agrees with me (hopefully):

Frank Vogel said that during Saturday's Game 1 defeat the Pacers "didn't trust the passes well enough, didn't move the ball well enough."

A lack of ball movement has characterized the Pacers' late-season collapse, but the problems weren't contained to the offensive end. Vogel also highlighted breakdowns in one-on-one defense and the Hawks' relentless ability to get into the paint, which is largely due to Jeff Teague's penetration and the Hawks' frontcourt spreading the court out to the 3-point line.

will disagree with you on Hill, he has struggled the last 3 months, they need CJ watson to step up... btw your reasoning helps my lean to the over..
reality is - don't think either of them can stop teague,, he has become that good of a player

I agree. He really used Smith's departure and Horford's injury to become the main go to guy for the Hawks.

Oh and I don't expect Korver to block Hibbert twice again... :)

I think that this stat alone - proves just how crazy that game was.

Since 1995 the home team is 38-6 SU (.864) and 26-17-1 ATS (.605) in game two of the NBA playoffs after losing game 1.

The pacers need a good point guard. And hibbert is a pussy.

its only natural for the away team to get a little lax in game 2 if they win game 1

I think the Clips win the game but not sure if they cover. 8 points is a lot against a team that can score in bunches. I also think Mark Jackson will implement the hack-a-Jordan today more and you'll see him out of the game in crunch time. We'll see.

The home team in game two after a loss is a strong play, no doubt. But I don't like that he had to narrow his search down to only the first two rounds and also by that 5-point margin, just to make his "system" undefeated. Especially since he then goes on to recommend "big plays" on all that chalk. It is an interesting trend, and props to that guy for narrowing it down like that though.

I'm gonna look for a Blake Griffen prop tonight. After sitting most of game 1, you know he'll be motivated and will be in scoring mode. Plus the refs will probably let things go when it comes to him since they called him real tight game 1.

Player props are sucker plays for sure but it's so hard to resist sometimes.

NBA issues statement on Houston-Portland Game 1: Foul on Dwight Howard w/ 10.8 seconds left in OT should've been called on Joel Freeland.

Adrian Wojnarowski ‏@WojYahooNBA 10m
Dwight Howard should've been awarded two free throws, NBA says. As it turned out, Howard fouled out and Blazers secured Game 1, 122-120.

Adrian Wojnarowski ‏@WojYahooNBA 3m
Rockets were trailing by point, and Howard would've been shooting two free throws. Freeland made one of two FT's. Harden missed J at buzzer.

Zach Lowe ‏@ZachLowe_NBA 10m
The missed call league just announced -- Freeland boxing out Dwight while facing away from hoop -- was point of emphasis from preseason.

hard to see a couple of the game 1 home losers go down 0-2..
On Indi-Chicago ML parlay -120
Indi-Houston ML parlay -125

Did they address the non travel call that was missed in the 4th quarter that instead led to 2 free throws for Houston? It was either a travel, or at the very least a jump ball...there is no way Houston should have been shooting 2 free throws. Those 2 calls (the non-travel, and then the phantom call on Howard evened out so no biggie)

  • The Grizzlies will have forward Tayshaun Prince back tonight. He played only four minutes in Saturday’s Game 1 before having to leave with an illness. “He’s a lot closer to 100 percent tonight,” said Grizzlies head coach Dave Joerger before the game. “he’s done a great job against the premier (small forwards) in the league this season.” Prince will defend Kevin Durant who now has the fourth highest playoff scoring average (28.7 points) in NBA history. Durant led all scorers with 33 points in Game 1. However, when Tony Allen guarded Durant in Game 1 KD was just 4-for-11 overall and 1-for-4 on threes. He was 2-for-3 when Prince was on him.
  • The Thunder got off to a blazing start Saturday, leading by as many as 25 points in the first half. Durant said today he and his teammates must do that again, “They wanna start stronger than what they did last game and we know that,” he told reporters after the team’s shootaround. “We gotta be able to punch them first, instead of just layin back and waiting for them to punch us. We’ve gotta be the first hitter.”
  • The Thunder had 32 fast break points Saturday. Memphis head coach Dave Joerger said his players, “have gotta do a better job of getting back early,” to slow down some of those transition plays. They managed to do that in regular season. In the four games they played against each other the Thunder averaged 11.5 points in transition.
  • Tonight’s magic number may be 100. The Grizzlies are 63-8 over the last two seasons when scoring at least 100 points. On the other hand when opponents get to triple digits the Grizz were just 7-20 in the regular season and with the Thunder scoring exactly 100 points in Game 1 Memphis is 0-1 in this season’s playoffs when an opponent hits that number.
  • The Thunder are 21-8 in playoff games at OKC’s Chesapeake Energy Arena.

We called that Blake Griffen prop. I think another prop that needs to be looked at in game 2 is a an L Aldridge prop. Terrence Jones isn't big enough or strong enough to check LA. And if they try and put DH on him, he's too slow and Aldridge can take him outside then either pop the jumper or blow by him. He's the best big guy in this series by far.

Great point.

Hunt and I will be all over Harden that game. It is a must win just like the Clippers tonight and while I wouldn't expect a 40 pt blowout it could be a comfortable game which could minimize LA floor time. Blake only played 30 tonight, he just happened to be beast mode and Doc went for the kill in the third.

That Tay quote is funny. He was great against Tmac in 2003 and solid in next two years against different guys but has been horrid for 8-9 years in playoffs on defense(1-on-1).

:shake:

Hou +110 for the series now. Taking them and will play Port +$ after Hou wins tonight. Still think Hou will have a chance if they go down 0-2 but the idea here is to get + on both sides.

I also really like Hill. I think he is the toughest player in the league at the moment.

Where do you get the idea that George Hill is the toughest player in the NBA? To be fair, I haven't been watching all Pacer games so I might be missing something but I haven't heard of him being referred to as this.

Maybe toughest was too strong of a word, but very tough. I just always liked the way he stood his ground, even back in SA days.

he is not the same person/type of player anymore- he has lost his mojo...

Paul Pierce thinks certain players are inherently more clutch than others.
In one of the better quotes of the young postseason, Pierce spoke briefly about being clutch, "Everybody don’t have it. Everybody is not born with it. You can’t buy it at Costco or Walgreens." Pierce had a solid performance in Brooklyn's Game 1 win over Toronto and his 36 minutes played should come as good sign for a Nets team that will likely need The Truth's clutch genes sooner or later.
