Is Webb gonna right the ship for the D-Backs or do the Dodgers see blood and first place and take it?

The LA Dodgers are 13-3 SU their last 16 home games w/Manny on board, having scored at least 3 runs in every game (overall average of 5.31 runs a game).

Early games -

Key @ Toronto IMO is Marcum's health . The price seems high but dont think it is especially if Marcum is not right and cant imagine he is . Marcum incredible career splits vs TB 17.2 inn only 4 hits allowed !! Is he healthy ??

Despite the pitching might have to look at UNDER @ Balt with the weather and wind plus the DH . Two LHSP as well ..vs two poor lineups vs LHP

Maybe an UNDER @ MINNY . Real flat spot I think for Twins after the MUST IWN FRI GAME after the disasterous ending to the trip. All crazy time zones and the early start . Earlier this matchup was DET -110 which Baket and CO won 4-1 ...so while I like Twins think the price is high for them . Verlander looks terrible lately which makes an under scary....

Webb is another guy who looks like crap lately and has the ribcage issue...either fade him or pass ....looking to fade him.......

Lean towards Pedro at home vs Moyer.....

Just a few thoughts ....BOL

SN, how about an over in LA?

Billingsley 1-3, 6.00 ERA v Arizona this season, .314 BA.

overall they're 53 for 197 off him (.269)

Webb ribcage issue + command control lately:

last two starts:

Code:
DATE	OPP	RESULT	IP	H	R	ER	HR	BB	SO	GB	FB	TBF	#Pit	Dec.	Rel.	ERA
8/31	LAD	L 1-8	3.1	8	8	6	2	5	3	8	5	23	90	L(19-6)	--	3.19
8/26	@SD	L 2-9	4.2	9	6	6	1	1	4	9	5	25	82	L(19-5)	--	2.96

they are .232 off him but .282 this season.

Webb perhaps not himself and the number is 7,5.

Thinking Arizona, slumping or not, will score something after being shutout last night. Billinsgley hasn't fared that well against them anyways.

People are so high on the Dodgers now (so am I to be honest, they are tearing it up at home, 13-3 last 16, averaging 5.30 RPG), but the SAME, the EXACT same thing happened last week, Arizona was the hot team and LA in a prolonged slump. Arizona took first two of the series, had them on the ropes basically, then LAD goes on to win the next two.

Not saying it has to happen here just caveat emptor before anyone unloads on the Dodgers without turning that coin three times.

I'm pretty sure Webb won't be in his Webblike mode, expecting more of what we've seen in his last 2 starts, more or less and Chad isn't unhittable, these Zona guys know it.

Btw, one would expect Webb, the king of the NL, to be correlating with a lot of under trends right? Well he is 15-11 to the over this season actually.

Usually Webb carries the team to a win but this time I think they know they have to carry him, he's been slumping and the Dodgers at home, a scary thought.

Well not deal of the year or anything, just thinking 7.5 may be too low, and we have plus money on the over side...

of course sides wise it's LAD or nothing. A slumping pitcher + a slumping team against a sizzling hot team at this price, I am leaning LAD as well, but currently liking the over more.

last night after the screwers game i was so decided i was going to be on the screwers/pads over whatever it was...both pens are severely depleted and milwaukee is due for a big offensive output

then i see whos pitching and it pisses me off....
BUT sheets did have a tightness in his groin on monday, and only threw 54 pitches becuase of it, will that bother him today?
the red hot giles hits sheets well too (4-6 today).... is batting .462 (12-for-26) with five doubles, two home runs and six RBIs against Sheets

its all about how long you tihnk either SP will go.
PV is coming off a 121 and 114 pitch outings, BUT he's on 6 days of rest.
how long will he go? in his last 2 road outings hes been hittable and hasnt gone more then 6 innings.

who will they even bring in in relief? (this was my point for the over after watching tonights game)

bell pitched last night and also tonight. cla meredith 2 innings tonight. hensley pitched 1 inning tonight. falkenborg pitched 2 innings tonight @ 40 pitches.
hoffman will be available to close, and adams will be available probaly for 1 inning (pitching 3 innings last 4 days), and also gave up a HR the other day to hardy. hensley would be available for limited relief as well.

for the screwers salomon torres pitched 2 innings tonight @ 40 pitches. gagne got SHELLED giving up a HR and double back to back. a 21 pitch inning, and even that he MAY be available tomorrow, its safe to say SD hits him well.
mota will be available tomorrow.. and gas cans riske and stetter.
shouse has pitched the last two nights but got lucky and only had to throw one pitch tonight. who knows how yost will manage the pen... but i think its safe to say yost ill save shouse for sunday

this is a 4 game series so even if the over doenst hit tonight, with parra and young on the mound sunday you can still chase and hit the over on sunday.

first 2 games went under youve got to think ONE of the games in this series the screwers bats will finally wake up.

jody gerut will definitely hope the over and should be back tomorrow... he came in to pinch-run tonight which was a good sign

Regarding Peavy
1. 7 inning 1 earned run at home vs Giants 08. 02, 2008
2. 8 innings, 3 runs at Anaheim 06/ 17/ 2006
3. 7 innings, 2 runs at Atlanta 04/ 15/2006
4. 7 innings 1 run at Arizona 04/23/ 2005
This is the list of the 4 times Peavy has lost in his last 20 Saturday starts
The over under was 4-14-2

These are Garrett Olson pitching at home in the day this season
1. 7 innings 0 runs vs Yankees 5-26- 2008
2. The second one was at home vs Anaheim on 7, 27, 2008.
First 6 innings 1 run. These were his only home games in the day.
By the way Webb is 15-5 last 20 on Saturday and 5-0 on Saturday this season.
I am going to guess that in the Mets game SportsNut thinks it is unlucky to pitch 6 times in 1 season to a team

Have played the Mets. Mets 6-2 at home in second game off a loss and this is the third time this pattern has come up with Philies at Mets this year. Phillies 18-23 in the day to Mets 27-20.

Topic worth discussion. Cleveland at KC. First thought is KC first 5. Zach not a good leftie vs Meche and an excellent lefty hitting KC team. KC 6-19 in game 2 off loss. Meche on 5 days rest which is not so good. Cleveland a road giant now. How many negatives can an otherwise reasonble action endure. Not sure.

Have played Minn. Ump better than 3-1 for home fav. Almost every angle points to Minn. Nut may be right about the under though.
When first 5s up at 5d will be playing Baltimore first game and maybe under. See no reason why Smith's knack for no support shoud change here.
Small bet on WS. Anaheim 4-8 last 12 on road. Have said starters are going to start going shorter and clearly they are vastly more interested in Yankee series coming up than this while WS deadly serious while afraid of next game because Danks has been so bad.
Joined the gang on the Cards. Boring game.
Got my Padres at 43. Looks like I am supposed to play Boston. Boston on the road in game 2 after a win 7-3. They clearly want to win today and dump tomorrow to set up the loss before Tampa and Lester. I still have to decide if they will be abe to win today. Wake not the most reliable road warrior.
When 5d first put up the first half bets they had the morning game in Baltimore and I tried to get down. They did not accept and took it down and it still is not back.

Fucking Chris Perez killed my five teamer last night and a two teamer and my straight up bet on STL. Love those $2000 swings.

Tough game with lots of angles. Any time KC faces a lefty I have to give it a look because their splits are so slanted. Cleveland's away win % and KC home win % both 44%. Meche has faced CLE 4 times this year. Last time out 7 strong innings, 2 hits against, 9 ks. He got killed in his first outing, a fairly dominant 2nd outing, very average third. He's about .60 pts lower in BAA on the road and close to a run and a half of ERA better on the road, though 5-5 record both h/a. Meche's K numbers have been way up this month, about 33% better than any other month. He also had a couple of games where his walks got very out of control. Mixed bag here, I think I lean over.

I guess it is worth noting that CLE is towards the top in K/G and the middle of BB/G statistics for the league.

Marcum in AAA starts did do well . I guess he needs to face weaker lineups as the tougher ones hit him in the majors being he is less then 100%...

On the fence still here but lean TB but hate when I feel almost priced in ...
-110 now most places

With the Purcey / Garza rematch tmrw still leaning Rays here . There pen concerns me and Shields drops off production wise away though was good vs a weaker Jays lineup recently ...think we see a game of extremes but cant decide which one to b ehonest...either very tight low scoring game or an over type game say 6-4 again thats nmever in much doubt ...

Small pays On Rays 1st 5 inn ML and Rays 1st score of the game ...

be back to answer the questions posted..

At the Yankee blog today Peter Abraham was mentioning that for the first time he got the sense that the players had accepted no playoffs. Seems likely then that Moose tomorrow and the Angel series are really all that concern them now.
This will be Wakefield's 500th appearance for Boston. First player in team history with 500 appearances and 350 starts. Down for Boston for 1 unit minus 37 cents.

I read in a recent post of yours where you said you would offer thoughts/ideas on ML parlays....do you have any for today...ncaa foots included?? Thanks!!

Todays a bit hectic with CFB and NFL ondeck feel like every 30 minutes its time to make more plays ...

Problem with ML parlays today in MLB is there are few high home chalks which is more what I meant about the ML parlays . I tend to do well figuring out which high priced games will win but hate parlaying them for that even(ish) payout ..plus I am usually rushed and get to look atthe card more in fragments then whole..

As of yet nothing exceptional really standing out in MLB ..truth ishavent given bases much thought ...

Nothinh more then a glimpse try to get back my 3:30 to be abit more clear if I like something but early..

Twins / LAD (Webb's health?) seems okay with Minny being the stronger of the two . Only drawback to Twins is there recent travel and time zone switches.. with two CFB MLs that seem to have alot attention of those in CFB are Wyoming and Texas A&M...KC ML looks of interest later on as does COL , Seattle and even Pitt ...

Just very preliminary leans to maybe give you something to look at ...

Try to get back here when I finish up the 3 or 3:30 stuff in CFB...

I usually keep my parlays around 20-30-40 bux and try to hit 4 teamers around 8 or 10 to 1...otherwise I prefer since I am playing at a credit book to play the ML favs that I like ....if I relly like something of a 2 team vairiety with normalish juice then I throw it in a reverse and if I really have 4 solid plays lately being going with round robins and risking more in those .....

Like the feeling of risking 30 or 40 bucks and getting 300 or 400 back...well who wouldnt I guess

Love Auburn 2nd H if you can get that in...

also SJ ST +13 somewhat like the under 27 (have the game under so this gives you u50 instead of 56 ...)

Sorry but scratch the Twins ML from consideration. Its not anywhere near as strong as I thought . Verlander off probably his worst career start could be in bounce back mode seeing his quality work vs Twins so far in 2008 . Just think -160 is very high ...would have been interested in an under if the vig was reversed on the total...

so nothing yet for ML as possible parlays...

Hey SN, what do you think about over 9.5 NYY/Sea? I think the Mariners can get to Fat Syd for some runs but will the Yanks score here? They seem to go on some droughts and with the playoffs so far away, I don't even know if they care.

When do the cubs win? Line down to -118 at matchbook, and that scares me.
