If Toronto wins tonight I'm doubling down on Colorado tomorrow and fading Ty Taubenheim. He doesn't belong in the majors. Followed his career for years...

You'd think that Oswalt would be able to shut down that Rangers line up as well.

Look at these career numbers in that matchup...

OSWALT
is 4-2 when starting against TEXAS with an ERA of 3.45 and a WHIP of 1.204.His team's record is 6-2 (+3.9 units) in these starts. The UNDER is 6-2. (+3.7 units)

WRIGHT is 1-12 when starting against HOUSTON with an ERA of 7.57 and a WHIP of 1.868.His team's record is 2-14 (-12.0 units) in these starts. The UNDER is 7-9. (-3.2 units)

Eaton has been pretty good for sometime (only 1 bad inning vs the high flying Tiggers), Phils 6-2 his last 8 starts.

Cards bats continue to suck, left shitloads on last game out vs KC, left enough on tonight. Philly had the luxury of using Jose Mesa to close out and still win (thats saying something).

problem is I like the Phils for game 3 as well, but the cards have been playing just well enough to suggest they wont be swept.

Random Injury/News Updates:

The Royals called off the Milton Bradley deal with the A's after learning that the outfielder suffered an oblique strain in his final game with the club on Tuesday.
The A's reportedly did not know of the injury when they designated Bradley for assignment on Thursday. "The A's were not at fault," Royals GM Dayton Moore said. Perhaps Bradley didn't want to play for the Royals so he made up the injury? If he becomes a free agent, he'll be able to choose his team, something he might find preferable. The Royals agreed to give up Leo Nunez and pay the remainder of Bradley's $4 million salary before the trade fell through. Jun. 22 - 11:21 pm et

Justin Morneau was taken to the hospital following a collision with Miguel Olivo in Friday's game.
It didn't seem very serious at the time, but Morneau was coughing up blood afterwards and may have suffered a broken sternum. If so, it'd be a crushing blow to the Twins' hopes. Garrett Jones would likely be called up to play first base in his place. The Twins could step up their efforts to bring in Ty Wigginton. Jun. 22 - 10:13 pm et

Magglio Ordonez left Friday's game in the eighth inning after being hit on the back of his left hand by a pitch.
Ordonez seemed to be OK, but with the Tigers up 5-0 in the eighth, he was removed as a precaution. If he can't go tomorrow, then Craig Monroe will get a start. Jun. 22 - 9:43 pm et

Darin Erstad
was sent for an MRI after aggravating his ankle during Friday's game.
Manager Ozzie Guillen said he was told by trainer Herm Schneider there was no discoloration or inflammation in the ankle. The results of the MRI are expected Saturday. A second DL stint is a possibility. Jun. 22 - 8:56 pm et

Leans:

Colorado -113 (Cook v. Taubenheim)
Well Fondy said he's followed Taubenheim his entire career, don't know much about him, what he throws, but this years stats in Triple A.

11 starts and 2 relief appearances - 3-5 record, 5.63 ERA

Now he's about to face a hot hitting team, and I doubt Holliday goes 0-6 again. The Rockies haven't lost back to back games since May 31-June 1st.

Cook has been much better on the road than @ home this year posting a 2.90 ERA, 1.23 WHIP, .257 OPP BA and allowing 47 H, 16 ER, 4 HR, 14 BB, 20 K in 7 games (2-1).

Might be a large play here.

Washington Nationals +145 (Chico v. Byrd)
Cleveland Indians @ Washington Nationals UNDER 10 -114
The Indians are 7-7 on the road vs. LHP
Chico got roughed up by a Tigers lineup which is En Fuego. Prior to that game he was pitching quite consistantly, and gave the Nats an opportunity to win. The Nats were 13-15 in May and 9-10 in June, which includes an 8 game losing streak to start out May. There was nothing they could do against the Tigers, but prior to being swept by the Tigers they were not swept by a team since May 7-9 @ Mil. I know that's kind of irrelevant since they won yesterday, but it shows the improvement of this team and Byrd is just not stopper material.

Laz Diaz is the UMP = Under consideration
Wind will be blowing out to right @ around 10mph

Kansas City Royals +141 (Bannister v. Bush)
I am a Bannister fan, a winner of his last 4 start. He did allow 4 runs against the Cards last week but they were putting up a lot more runs than they usually do. Bush has pitched better over the past month, but he doesn't scare me and Bannister is a nice sized dog.

San Diego Padres -122 (Young v. Wakefield)
Boston Red Sox @ San Diego Padres UNDER 7.5 -121
This is the "Chris Young @ Home" Theory. Just bet him at home. He has struggled against the Sox in the past, last facing them 2 years ago and he's only seen them twice, I don't know how relevant those #'s are. Run support is always an issue but you really can't go wrong with Young.

Eddings so UNDER is worth a look for sure, very high % of strikes called, misleading O/U record.
Wind is supposed to be blowing out to Right-Center @ 6 mph

Young was 0-6 when he last faced the dodgers @home, and look how that turned out. A game in which Young has pitched at home has not gone above 7 runs (last home game vs Sea was 4-3) in six starts.

The assumptions about Boston being limited by not having a DH are very helpful to an under/ Diego lean. Line is -118 @ 5 dimes reduced, and I will almost assuredly be on that before th night is out. Maybe the under smaller, but I like the side better.

Favorites that are high on the list, COlorado, TB, and Ariz. And the dogs would be, Florida, Oakland, Washington, and Philly.

Truthfully, I will probably play all eight games, but I know doing so is playing with fire. Let's see if anyone agrees or disagrees with my line of thinking.

I am going to write some stuff and copy it over here in a few minutes, have to finish some food prep for a bridal shower tomorrow. Anyone care to share some insight on my leans it would be appreciated.

I dont have problems w/Philly, except Wainright is easily their best pitcher going in this series, and I struggle to see them getting swept easily. I'd suggest leaving enough room to hop back on Philly Sunday should they fail here.

STL is 5-0 w/Wainright starting off a previous start of his they lost. They of course lost his last start prior to this coming one.

STL also 3-0 last 3 game 2s after losing game 1.

St. Louis is perfect after being shut out this season, I hope I didn't jinx it, knock on wood.

Also look at Chicago/Chicago over, Vazquez is awful aginst the cubs, very awful. Rich Hill hasn't been sharp lately either, Hickox is a slight over ump. I like the Over.

Like Cards at home in bounce back with best pitcher on the mound.. at a pick or better? Yep. 1st play for Saturday locked. Stl, pkish, 4 units..

Betcrime--your avatar is sick.

hey renew/.. i kinda like royals under... bannister has been pitching well.. and bush is a great pitcher at home... even though the balls seem to be jumping off the bats...

The 6-0 shutout trend interests me. Would definitely not play Houston not clear if I am interested in Texas. Last 10 for Wright vs Houston he had 5 good starts. Oz is not legal to play on the road right now and the Texas pen is in pretty good shape they could take Wright out after 3 innings and still be in the game.. over? Its just too soon for me. Going to study some and hopefully develop opinons.

It sounds as though Chpper will be out tomorrow as well. They are talking about another stint on the dl. Could not see team chemistry much worse right now so some action on Detroit seems required.

The last 41 NL interleague games (meaning, an IL game w/an NL home team) have seen...

Home teams win by 3+ runs ...... 14
Home teams win by 1-2 runs ..... 6
Away teams win by 1-2 runs ..... 3*
Away teams win by 3+ runs ...... 18

*2 of these 3 results have been wins by road favs. Only 1 road dog has registered a win by 1-2 runs during this stretch of games (and that was by 2 runs).

Teams are winning at a rate of 3+ runs...

....when at home - 70.0%
........when away - 85.7%

After the previous 30 NL games had produced a 24-5-1 to Over mark, the latest 13 games have produced a 6-5-2 to Under mark.

After the previous 27 AL games had produced a 19-8 to Over mark, the latest 18 games have produced a 10-8 to Under mark.

In other words, that strong period of Over domination from recent past days is well on its way to finding its short term stat correction, although thats presently much more prevalent in the AL then the NL. Therefore I'd be careful with any obvious looking NL Overs in the coming few days, as I'd expect we'll see at least 1 day of blanket Unders sooner rather than later - we had an 11-3 Under run just prior to that large 24-5-1 Over run, so it wouldnt suprise me to see the other side of this Over run bookended by a similar strong but short term set of Under results. This maybe too ungrounded for some, but this is how things work from my observation.

I won't mess w/ another RL this yr. My leans:

Rockies -112
Orioles +123
Tigers -1
Padres -124
Yankees -168
Nationals +145

Great Discussion Guys,

Lets not forget that the Braves have beeen shut out for 20+ innings now, I dont see it stopping with Verlander this afternoon...They are playing so poorly that even Smoltz got rung up for 5 in one inning, great managing by Bobby again, wtf! The braves will lose today mark my words.

I think so. Covers is showing the closers available for Colorado and the Dodgers. I would doubt this.

Rockies seem like a very popular play but you can't really hate on Cook's road #'s (2.90era, 1.23whip, 49 2/3ip) and I do like that Rockie offense vs a guy with a 5.63era in the minors who is only starting because they need to give Burnett a few more days to rest

I actually think Wainwright bounced back and the Cards win but man that fuker cost me vs. the Royals last start

Tigers line got hammered up but still def like them to win today, same with the Yankees and Wanger.

Getting Chris Young for -120 or less has to have value at home. The guy has a 1.10era in 6starts there and has given up 26hits in 41 innings. I don't like the Padre offense but Wakefield throws meatballs, maybe 3runs will be enough here.

SD is 10-3 their last 13 NL games

SD is 5-8 their last 13 IL games

SD is 7-5-1 to Under their last 13 NL games

SD is 9-4 to Over their last 13 IL games
